Whos NOT going to play WoW or EQ II?

SavvonSavvon Member Posts: 98

I am just wondering who is not going to play either of the two. I am not. I think they will both be fun games for a month maybe, but no way are going to make it in the long run becuase of the communitys they will attract.

If I had to choose between the 2, I would pick EQ II, only for the fact that I will not play with the B-Net brats, I refuse, those kids can ruin the best games period.

I liked L2, but again, the Chinese bots/adena inc, people have ruined it. There are alot of GREAT games out there right now, its just the people who have been ruining them.

Not me :) Bleah, I'm thoroughly sick of Elves and Trolls and spellcasters. After years of EQ, DAOC, Lineage 2 and the like, I discovered SWG due to the free trial and am having the time of my life skilling up my Scout to become a Ranger. I think it's turned into a fine game, and one that should last me a couple years.

I'd try WoW if I could get into beta, but don't see myself paying for it. And I'm burned clear out on the entire world of Norrath.....maybe I'm the only one? :D

I'm not sure.  I'm currently in the 14 day trial of EVE and I'm going to buy SWG tomorrow.

I won't be playing either of them, EQ2 is ugly and I've never liked Everquest, WoW doesn't sound all that interesting.

    Tabula Rasa 4 teh win.

WoW may be fantasy trolls, elves w/e it is warcraft that is it's own form of fantasy and is the coolest around, pretty much all MMORPG's running right now suck big time except for ..... none.

You all know you are going to play WoW or EQ2 (and if you're smart and want to dodge another SWG failure, it will be WoW). Once all the MMOs in the making are out there right now, you'll see how much these dominate the market and will eventually fold.

  • flabairflabair Member Posts: 188

if it comes down to those 2 i would take EQ2 over wow, with Guild Wars as a break from EQ2 sometimes

Ummm....no. I know I'm not going to, because the worlds they're set in no longer interest me. And calling SWG a failure is just nuts- it has more people playing than almost every MMO game out there. EQ, FFXI, and maybe DAOC are ahead, but what else is?

We've all heard about new games putting everyone else out of business. SWG and Eve were going to shut down AO. AO is still there. EQ and DAOC were going to put UO out of business. UO is still being expanded on. Horizons and AC2 were going to pull everyone away fron the other fantasy MMOGs....well, guess what. Horizons sucks and AC2 is barely a blip......

Of the two, I think WoW will be the bigger success because it's different. EQ2 is going to suffer from the fact that EQ players like what they have and scream bloody blue murder at the first hint of change. They'll do well, but a fantasy game will simply not take a sci-fi fan away from a sci-fi game.

Speaking of 14 year old brats, I find them in EVERY mmrpg ive played. While im sure WoW will have its share of them, I dont think it will be higher than EQ2 or other games of the type. Heck even 'hard core' games like EVE Online attracted plenty of super annoying children.

Ill be buying both the games on release day, ive played all the other mmorpgs, and trust me they all attract brats. And honestly the worste players i have ever met in my life are from eq. there something about eq players that drives me nuts. so saying these games will attract bnet kids is wrong all these games will, and ill bet you 80% of these kids as you call them are probably 20 year olds.

And to whoever said they are buying SWG DONT heh.. this is one of the worste mmorpgs ive ever baught. played maby 100 hours total. worste game ever. along with few of the other games being released ryzoms, risk your life, horizons, savage eden, shadowbane, swg, endless ages, wish, i could go on and on really. but these games are not worth your money then again thats my opinion.

im looking forward to WOW more then eq2 im guessing eq2 will be choppy style of gameplay like the original eq1 kind of is. just take a look at ebay if your wondering who will be playing wow. there is about 52 accounts for sale right now ranging from $300 at minmium to $600 ive seen it this high... i would pay like $25 if that hehe. nice beta testers they have eh?

Can everyone please stop referring to age when talking about annoying people. As far as I know, there are plenty of adults out there who never grow up and always act like children.

I am a 14 year old and I don't find people referring to ages very good. Some 10 year old could be more mature than YOU.

Well theres no other age group so well known for idiotic behavior...

Tabula Rasa is shaping up nicely... but still quiet a ways off from release.

I'm not.  Both of those games lack good PvP.

I'll be sticking with Lineage II until Dark and Light comes out.

Actually WOW looks like it's gonna have pretty good PvP.  Though it's still in pretty early testing, I think there's some seriously cool potential there.  As far as I've heard EQ2 really doesn't have anything to offer yet in terms of PvP, but who knows, that may change later in the game's development.

I am not planning on playing either of them. They're not my type. Plus, until I see something that may seem remotely interesting, I'm not going near any games. If I were about to die over the choice, I'd have to go with Everquest 2. EQ is one of the first games, one of the most populated games. Never on my life would I go with WoW. Only because it looks very boring. As for Blizzard Entertainment, I loved Diablo and Diablo II, and the expansion wasn't that bad. I think when I was really young, I used to play Warcraft but I can't remember.

Stop trying to be "non-conformist"...what are you, a goth fag?  You know you want to try at least one...give in.  I agree that the communities need help, but all the help they need lies in your ignore list.  Communities can't ruin the game for you, only you can (if they are both as good as they are hyped to be).

Don't worry Xzaro, the age ref is just a generalization towards the fact that when most players in that age group get offened or upset, the potty mouths go flying and they irrelivant flaming begins. It's not directed at you, and if your not one of those people then don't worry about it. Think of them as just refering to some ass you might now. If your called by name, then by all means get offeneded image

A new game will not fold older ones becuase people who have been playing it for a long time arent just going to let all the time and effort theyve invested in the game go to waste. Thats why i dont think youll see a massive drop in EQ subscriptions when EQ2 comes out, sure there will be alot move to it but many people wont because they have put so much time into their character(s) that they just dont want to start over again just because its something new. Same goes for WoW, dont expect MMORPG subscriptions to drop massively,  they WILL drop but most of the people who go on to play either of them will probably play them because they are A) not curretnly playing a MMOG or B) they just started/dont like the current one theyre playing.

Although I am a blizzard vet, I will not deign to play WoW should I find out that there is a level cap < 80.

The rest system is already an excise tax on your playing time and I'm also not the kind of person to contribute massive amounts of time without some sort of change.

In fact, I wouldn't even squander my time with a free trial (should the latter be the case).

Hmm... I would play EQ2 iff (if and only if) their cap was at >= 200, they lessened their hardware requirements and made their gameplay analogous to WoW's (secret of mana hybridish).

In any case, I will be playing GW. image
