Hmm.  WoW isn't expensive compared to most MMOs.   As for overrated, yeah - it probably is.

As for little kids, they're more likely to be found in the free-to-play MMOs than the pay-to-play ones.  A WoW server community can be immature at times, but there are some very good ones - check out EU-Earthern ring (Roleplaying) - probably more mature than most, or just avoid PvP servers.

Still waiting for your Holy Grail MMORPG? Interesting...

WOW is not that expensive and it is a great game its better tan other mmorpgs like GW and the commuity can be great fun to chat with most times

Uhm lol WoW better than GW? I played both, now i only play WoW but still i think GW is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better than WoW. Each player's skills differ a lot more than in WoW, in WoW it's just wasting time to get the best armor and the only difference between ppl is talents, which isn't that big of a difference. Though community in WoW is way better than in GW, i only talk in Guildchat there whilst in WoW i talk on each chat there is.

as ive said many many many times before

blizzard is not out there to make geat games. it is there to make easy games.

they saw that the MMORPG world had potential in it but people where driven away from it because of the difficulty to play.

take EVE online for example. some one that has never played an MMORPG intheir lives would quit 2 hours after installing EVE online.

SWG when it came out. the crafting system was more of think experiment test try mix match gather look hunt read harvest buildharvestor gather more think  (here is the punctuation that should be between each action ,,,,,,,,,,,,,). just to say that they where complicated enough that a 7 year old could not grasp the concept and fully play it.  also games like ultima online where to "hard" for younger players, since it was open PvP and you could get ALL your posessions stolen in an instant (get killed and looted (including your house key) and then hour house robbed).  anarchy online, that game has so many atribute points that you can choose from that you could litteraly screw up your character and only realize this after you are max lvl. 2 years after you started to play.

whoa i really would like to have that feeling of risk again. there is nothing like it when it is a video game. darkfall might be like that (sry went on a tangent there)

back on topic.: blizzard made it available to every one and their grandmothers. it was a no risk, easy to learn, easy to play, easy to lvl cartoony game based on a popular series that has been in existance for over 10 years.  THAT was their goal.  if any one can play, then any one can aford it, and ou dont even need a credit card. so a 13 year old could go to the mall after school and buy a card with  1 night of babysitting money. or 1 day of work at mcdonalds. also the working class have enough to think about at their work. they dont want to go home to do more thinking of guild organization, clan/corp/guild intra politics or guild to guild politics, or how is the economy doing in the game, should i sell my x ressources now or wait a bit more see if they will go up in price. lets do some reasearch see where can i get this ressrouces/item... they just want a mind numbing activity, click click click attack attack attack action1 action 1 fireball LOLZERS ROXOR YOU NOOB!!! fireball fireball bleed attack.

in my opinion BLIZZARD are geniuses! brilliant company, make it easy so every one can play it and not get driven away. so they get a gazillion subscriptions and a gazillion x 14,99$ per month, thats just genius. they got the perfect balance to, if it was to easy no one would play because they would not have that little oooonf of achievement when they get something. blizzard got it the easiest possible without going into "stupidly easy"

also in MY OPINION I HATE IT!!!!, i think the game is to easy, i played for a couple of months 2-3 cant remember and i got bored. you have to get to 60+ to be able to speak to some one (since i am not worthy or a /reply or a /whisper if i am only lvl 34) so i have to solo till im 60+ and then i have to grind/farm to get best armour etc...... i like to think about tactis, war strategies, business plans (ingame) game politics, factional wars, group templates, etc......

I'd rather p2p a game to avoid people like you and everyone else that would otherwise never p2p simply because they are the kind of people that ruins the experience for other players by cheating, scamming and whatnot, not to mention the excessive amount of people that doesn't speak english at all spamming the chat with different languages and not showing any respect to anyone but themselves.

I gotta tell you, I've seen hell of a lot of more immature brats in f2p games than in WoW simply because most of those if not all of them can't afford to p2p, one example of that is Silkroad.

I'll gladly pay a monthly fee to play a quality game by a serious company behind that supports the game both in customer service and the game itself with content updates etc.

I don't know how you  could say guild wars is better than wow....especially in terms of easy, I maxed out in like 2 weeks and was too simple for me, plus it really wasn't WoW.

Playing WoW as my first actual MMORPG I've tried many, many games but wow takes the cake for me.

It's easy to play and anyone can play it and I like that. However the only thing I agree with you about being a joke is how much easier they changed the game and changed it from an awesome game from 04-05 and early 06 to now giving clothies +armor on their arena set, hell i miss the days when diremaul was a new instance :( however it's still the best game on the market and with the most subscriptions, however I don't know about you but every game can have a bad community depending where you are, sure theres people wanting to help noobs in other games however I myself am a, generous player, but dont get me wrong I don't help out random noobs that I have no idea who they are, especially the ones that whisper "1g plz!!" However in my time I've come across immature jerks and a fair share of great people that I met over WoW and too this day still chat, play sometimes not as excessively as we use to but you just gotta meet people I guess.

Sure WoW sure isn't as fun as it use to be and people complaining about how it sucks still play, because your in fact addicted to one of the most brilliant ideas, this game is the best game I have ever played and the longest I've ever played a particular game, and I was never the MMO or RPG game player, or any computer games from that matter and before WoW came out I was interested, and thats coming from someone who never has played any previous blizzard titles, however as of lately I have took a break because with all the recent nerfing / buffing to classes I have no idea what to play and just need some time away from the game, I suggest if you think wow is a joke, just take a few months off and come back and you may be interested in playing again.

sorry to tell you, but your gonna find the same amount of jerks on almost any game. The bigger, the more likely, and after about 100,000 players, its impossible not to have jerks.

how can you judge a game if you havnt played many of them. Still my favorite is Earth and Beyond. There is a group trying to rebuild the server side. You can actually play a one person version right now.

    I still want War.
  • SioBabbleSioBabble Member Posts: 2,803

Blizzard makes games that have mass appeal.

Now, I know that doesn't sit well with many hardcore MMORPG gamers, but there it is.   The game may not be your cup of tea, but it is popular, even if it isn't terribly complex or deep, nor does it foster a strong community.

But it's expanded the market for MMOs even domestically, even if the figure Blizz throws at you tosses in the Asian numbers.

As a result, even if you can't stand the game, it may make it possible for the game you want to play to reach the market.

CH, Jedi, Commando, Smuggler, BH, Scout, Doctor, Chef, BE...yeah, lots of SWG time invested.

there is a alot to like about WoW.

It was something Not EQ or AO.

It was a pick up and play .. game. its amusing and a good way to relax kick back and do some quests and hang out with friends and co-workers.

    Thats what wow is.

it will never be and orginal as SWG (pre nge)  it will never be as intense as ultima or L2. it will never be as cheap as most free games with there lag filled cities and spammers and all that BS you get with free games.

but it has its good points and uses and you can play wow for a few hours her eand there, you dont need to dedicated your every waking hour and become some psycotic mushroom person talking to themself like golum to be competivtive.

Nope you can just play, and most ppl that get mad about wow are ussually upset that joe nobody plays 1 hour a day has better gear then them and they play 20 hours a day for the last 3 years.

    lol

I LOL when the 16 year old slags off a game for being full of kids. I'm more than twice his age and play WoW regularly.

Some of us have salaries instead of pocket money, and to many mature adults in the West, the cost of WoW really isn't significant (spent £7 visiting the cinema last night, a single film costs more than two weeks gaming!)

hehe, makes me feel old somtimes. My wow guild has joined made an alliance with another guild. Youngest player in either guild is late 20's, and a couple people in there mid 40's. You just have to weed out the idgets.

Yeah, I do have to think a lot in my job.  I Don't want a "simulation" or a SECOND JOB working.   I want a fun game that is deep yet rewarding and has challenge yet one that I can pick up and play.  NOT something that feels like my job.

If you want something that complicated, it's not a game but a simulator.  I want fantasy, I want depth and challenge, but I don't want to feel like I am working  or have to waste time or lose what I have accomplished because someone with no life kills me and they play 40 or 50 hours a week.

That does'nt mean it's a kiddies game far from it.,  I don't want to read a manual, I want immersion and I want it to be user friendly in interface, I don't want to go online and look at forums to "learn" how to play.  Nor do I want to spend 50 hours a week to feel like I am accomplishing something.

You think your hardcore but your just a loser.  If you want to spend that much time doing something do something. real.  It's called a GAME.  That's what the "G" is in MMORPG.
