Controls in World War 2 online

hi, I haven't played world war 2 online but it looks good and i think i will subscribe. Before I subscribe to the game, many people and many reviews said that controls in WW2 online are horrible and you will need joy stick to control tanks and etc. is it true?

There is a keymapper in game where You can change the keys as You like it.

WW II Online is more of a simulation that an arcade action game so there are several key functions to map...

A joystick is highly recommended to play this game...get a joystick with 3 axes and throttle. But You can play also without...in my opinion its much more complicated. Theres a .cfg-file somewhere to find on the official boards You can download to play without joystick...

You can download the game client for free from the official website and try it offline, use the keymapper, have a look at the vehicles etc...

    download section...latest full install client!

Another Free Trial to try the game online for free may come after July 15th...

thx for the info, if the control will be as complicated as the ones in IL2-strumovik(sounds like its as complicated as IL2), i will buy a joy stick. First, i am going to try the trial when it comes out.

Edit: I am not good at customizing keys, i always leave key controls out.

Edit 2: second question, will it run on my computer with good settings?

my comp is: windows XP pro

                        P4 1.9

                        512 ddr ram (2700)

                       Geforce fx 5700 ultra

                       Sound blaster Audigy 2

Actually I am guessing that those people where actually commenting negatively about the "Keymapper" which is what you use to setup your controls. It can take some getting used to because, ww2ol always you to setup very complex control setups for general types or specific vehicles themselves. There are tutorials and website offered by the community to help learn the ropes of the keymapper.

You don't Need a joystick, but its definately very good to have and prety much essential for some things. For isntance I don't care how good you are but you'll never outfly me using a mouse. =) But I do know people who play on laptops and they do quite well in tanks and trucks etc. Also there is always infantry play until you can find a joystick to use.

Ya there are a few number of controls to learn, the trick is to take it one thing at a time. And you can usually get help from others, even multicrew vehicles so that you don't have to learn how to do everything at once by yourself. Many units will train you in using equipment too if you need.

I don't think your system will have any trouble running the game. I have a 2.1g CPU, Gf4 ti4800, 1 gig DDR ram(400mhz), an onboard sound (I know it sucks oh well =) and I play at high resolutions (1024+) all detail turned up and AA on etc and the game runs just fine for me.

    Hope that helps.

thanks for the details but 2 more questions. any game breaking bugs? is the game laggy?

Short answer is no for both

There are bugs but most only noticible for veterans and u cak expect that there are a delay in actions because of the 1 server for all concept.

The game will defiantly run on your PC. You have pretty close to the same specs I have, your slightly higher then mine, and I do not have any problems running the game.
