Turning back time three years to reinstate the code as it was then is not possible, and there have been far too many improvements and additions made to the game since then to create a new shard without those!
We also have no current plans to get rid of the Trammel or Felucca ruleset.
I hope this helps.

If anyone is to blame for these "improvements" besides Electronic Arts, it is UO Stratics and the UO forums themselves - the shelters for gaming's feeble. Since these non-competitive kiss-ups fail at competing in-game, they use their forum powers to influence the development of the "game" and remove any opposition, while allowing complaints from newbies and the non-competitive to propogate, turning UO into non-competitive mush - a mere activity rather than a game.
If you do a search for freeshards, you will find hundreds of them, many set up to replicate pre-UOR, and many set up in people's basement. EA claims that they are incapable of creating a classic server, something that the general public can do with very little funding and in their spare time. That just goes to show how sorry the EA developers really are.

Exactly. Anyone here, with ten minutes of spare time, can make a pre-UO:R based freeshard. Why the hell EA themselves can't? But then again, we can understand them why, I guess. Because if they would make a classic shard, they would prove that 10 years of "improvements" were as good as nothing (or even worse).

I think you can also say, that a lot of players cheat in this game because it is too easy to cheat in it. Hell, I have run scripts to killing things for hours, while I watch movies. Though I am always around my computer. I used to love this game so much, I devoted all my time to it. Now I barely log in anymore, there is no challenge in this game.
Yep, in a game where your character is invulnerable to other players and the gear he is wearing is more important than ability and is rarely lost, even a simple AFK script robot can compete.
Invulnerability + Item based + No Loot = a "game" to run while you are AFK.
Hoping this thread would bring me something to look forward too, I really miss old school uo as much as the next guy, played uo when i was 8 year old,i was certainly a noob, but it was still the funnest experience of mmos for me. on my bros computer, tried lineage 2.... nothing takes me back to old-school uo..... bah
As much as we all like the old classic style of UO, we have to remember that the games prime was when Tram was released. Which is sad, because it showed right there that the MMo world would be plauged with people that talk, but show no action. Bank sitters. For the people that stuck with Felucca, I honor them. They made the game that was UO and I only wish I could go back to those days. Of course it will never be done. Like Semp said though, even unexperienced players can do it, I'm sure lazy ass EA can do it for cheap.

It's really sad they just dont listen to the players , they claim to run polls , questionaires, focus groups and state that it is not a popular request , but on the other hand most players think they cant talk about it or on UO Stratics your post gets deleted if you mention classic shards..Hmm go figure.

I wish it would finally die, and I think with KR, it just might.

No plans for a classic server.
One Mythic person said, it was a risk for DAOC and they have no plans for UO to repeat it.
