What you should play instead!
As most people on this forum i USED TO play RS,but have now moved on to other things. I liked this game because it had so many skills that you could level up and i think that i like trade skills in games. There were also a couple generous players out there too. The things i didn't like though were the way you had to level up. It was all gather and click over and over. The only difference between woodcutting and fishing was a different animation! The game was also very solo oriented as far as quests go, but their are several clans to join which have fun pointing and clicking together. I suggest that everyone take a month off of RS, just one month. Then go pick up a copy of Guild wars and play it. Tell me if you really didn't enjoy your month of Guild Wars. If you don't you obviously did something wrong or your computer is made to only be able to run runescape or ogre island.

I've already switched from RS to GW. About 2 months ago, but still occasionally go on RS.

Rs has me bound sadly.
I played Rs, then i went to Guild Wars for about a month.
Back to Rs, from there I went to Dofus.
Again, back to Rs about after a month.
Then went to WoW, and back to Rs.
Why?
Rs sucks!

I need a new game, seriously thinking of going to Guild Wars again.

for the people who r bound to play runescape STOP!!I played that shit when i was like a kid. If you wanna better lookin game and you don't have to pay but has the same field of rs go play metin2. way better graphics, you can fish, mine, make potions so sto and go download metin2 or some othr game cuz rs is just pathetic

I used to play this but then i moved up to games like WoW and Diablo II...This game isnt a total piece of shit they just need to fix up the animation and improve the graphics because even though its on java they can do it god damn it!They improved the Monsters and some animations now just fix up whats left and its an ok game.I had a lvl 84 then i quit and gave away my account

i also used to play this game but i quit like all others do , but i do like ow simple the game is and how easy it is to play it , i had lvl70 but then it gets too repetitive and boring so its hard to lvl up and i dont thin ill get GW because i simply dont want to go out and buy games when i could download them.....but this game is kinda fun to make a new char and lvl it up
who the hell would switch from RS to GW, 75% of people who play RS are poor or dont have the comps to play them... another large number I see playing RS in the library computers because they dont even have a comp at all.... Besides that, they are making a GW2, plus numerous other MMO's coming out that will outdo GW, i played GW, liked it, beat it, and PVP'd the living %#@% out of it but i half to say. dont switch from a OLD mmo, to a slowly reducing in popularity MMO..... its like moving from a dead home to a home that is falling apart. ((I dont play RS, but I have LOTS of good memories of when i did)) "I really half to say, you guys going into the forum trying toget players to quit playing RS, reminds me of christian missionaries down in africa, trying to convert... There are SOO many people playing RS, there prolly will be for quite some time, your not going to make "any difference" in the RS community, and there would be no point in trying in the first place. Jagex doesnt have plans for, nor is working on it currently. The've updated the game engines twice since 2006, and theyve updated graphics so well, rs2 practically IS rs3 because it looks NOTHING like rs2 at the launch of rs2...
i have a character on guild wars factions at my friends house. quitting rs is pretty hard took me a couple months...if u don't wanna play runescape u have a couple options

also, if u play guildwars, i hope u know that guildwars 2 is coming out in either late 2008 or early 2009, they're going to hand out beta keys in like march 08
I personally do not like GW. It looks great in the videos. But I only played it for like a day after I bought it. It was so boring.
I dont play RuneScape I havent for like a year. Me and my neighbor did 1 quest ran essence loaded up our new characters find all these people in the wild. Be friend them then gang some stalker/ go out and kill a high lvl xD.
same!!!!!! I played rs for about a year, went to Gw for about a month, went back to RS, went back to GW for about 7 months, went to a bunch of diff mmorpgs, quit those, ENDED UP GOING BACK TO RS!!

Yeah, as you say "Go pick up a copy of Guild Wars". No one wants to go buy a game when they can play a game like Rune Scape for free. That's the only reason I stopped major gaming.

I still play RS, and in my opinion, it is a great game, and only an idiot would judge a game soley on its graphics.
True, the F2P version on RS is full of macroers and annoying pre-teens, but it's not all that bad. If you go to the P2P version, you'll see that (most of) the players there are actually quite nice and pleasant to be around.
After all, no game is perfect.

You sure? 'Cause last time I checked, there were a bunch of P2P MMO with more subs than RS.
Why play a POS like RS when you can spend a small amount of money a month for a good game?
why pay any money at all when u can play a great game like last chaos?
Tried Last chaos sometime this summer but I wasnt that impressed.
GW is a great game and if you can pick up a box cheap its a good deal, at least if you like games like Diablo. Its not to compare with MMOs like WOW however but you get a lot for your money.
Want something free? Perfect world is starting up its english version soon. If youre willing to pay for a game but dont want to pay monthly fees, wait till GW2.
What GW have and few other MMOs, including both free and those with monthly cost is: Jeff Strain and the best programming I seen since the first Diablo. I havnt got one single bug in the year i played. Strain worked on Diablo, were chief programmer on games like Warcraft 3 and the first head programmer on WOW too.
And unlike RS, the quests are brilliant, particular in the last expansion of GW. Cant wait for GW2.
I bought and tried guild wars for about a month... i was really dissappointed with it. first off i log in and there a bunch of lil boys standing around playing with their pixel girl parts.. and hitting on me at the same time ... wow i really want to join that guild ... not =x. then i am thinking ok time to get out of here and do some quests .. well there is no way to see people doing quests unless they are in your party... I sure didn't want to ask any of those kids to accompany me so ... i set off on my own.. and was very bored very fast. soo I thought i would try dif character builds and all that .. to prolong my suffering. Yes i got plenty of spams to join guilds with lil boys I didn't want to know...but is very hard to meet people out doing things .. the ones i would not mind getting to know. in order to have my rl friends they would have to purchase the game as well or have me buy 10 copies of it. i didn't like how i had to choose what my player was instead of having one player that could do everything, nor did i like how isolated you are when you begin.. unlike runescape where from the beginning there are people out doing things everywhere that will give you pointers as to what to do. The only pointers I received on gws were in their pants.... just one girls observation.
