Problem that will probably happen in this game.

As with a lot of PvP only games, if everyone will be able to make the same spell builds, then some spell builds will be almost impossible to beat, or just plain out aggrivating. Then a good percentage of the people in game will use it, just so they can win. Every fan website and interview for the game doesn't mention anything being done to stop this. Anyone seen different?

Balancing a class/skill/build is pretty tough to do. In fact there's no real perfect method save lots of player testing, trial and error.

The only way to avoid this is to make everyone 100% the same, 100% same gear/stats/level/build, so that no one is different. Then and ONLY then would a player's skill be the only thing that makes a difference.

I can see your point.  Some team finds a really powerful combo that synergizes well with others and they end up dominating the scene.  Everyone else has to adapt and use the same thing or complain and wait until it's nerfed.  Usually this happens when there is class stacking involved.  One thing I've always thought competitive RPGs shouldn't allow.  One spell can be very powerful and if you stack 4 of that same class using that very spell it's overpowering and sometimes impossible to counter until it's toned down.  We've seen this in Guild Wars and you see it in WoW Arena play all the time.

Maybe the Fury team has already considered this maybe not but it's a good topic hardly anyone addresses.

Maybe by putting a limit on the build copies, like only 2% of the population of the game can use the same build. So like if the game had 100,000 players, 2,000 could use a completely identical build.

This would NEVER happen.  And IF put into play could easily be gotten around.  All I have to do to have the same type of build is change 1 skill.  I could add a skill that I would never use, and have a different build.

The history of gaming shows that people are prone to finding the "best" build.  It doesnt mean that everyone is going to use it.  Fury requires a lot of different roles.  Not to mention that people's play styles will come into play.  Just because the build is the "best" doesnt mean I am going to play it.  I may have an incarnation of it and it may be needed in order to have a successful match, but with the way the game is structured right now, I dont forsee this being a problem.

This sort fo thing is always happening in guild wars and apart from nerfing builds/skills, theres really nothing else that can be done to counter it

This isn't Street Fighter, unfortunately some classes are gonna outmatch others  and some builds are going to dominate others until they see the wrong end of the nerf bat, but thats just how it goes

I'm more or less concerned about class stacking.  As I said in my previous post these types of things usually come into play when you stack 4-5 of the same overpowered class or overpowered spell/skill.  Granted these type of gimick builds never really last long but for the time they are around they can be a real drag.  The Guild Wars team was usually good about getting rid of gimick builds however we still see an abundant amount of it in WoW Arena with Shadow Magic DOT stacking.

It's definitely a good topic.  Anyone remember back in the early days of Guild Wars class stacking Rangers and spirit spamming?  There really was no good counter to that unless you ran a few Rangers yourself to spirit spam back.

I just think class stacking is bad, not much will change my opinion on that.  However, I'm sure Fury will be a great game non the less.

There aren't really any defined classes in Fury, as you can take abilities from any school you like. Getting the actual ability balance right is going to be what's important for us.

*cough* roar of the renegade *cough*

Honestly my clan seriously expects there to be many changes to balance in the upcoming build.

To expand a little bit on what Alex said: We do plan on doing regular skill balancing, and will be paying attention to the community for their feedback on it. We also have access to very comprehensive server logging of abilities. We can see how often they are being used, how effective they are... and so on.

With all of this our number one goal is to keep a fun and balanced environment for our players.
