Suggestions for an Aspiring Miner

in EVE Online

I'm interested in rolling a miner character.  Any advice on what race, creed, etc I should pick?  What stats are most important to a miner? 

Also, can someone suggest like a set of skills in a certain order they think I should focus on?  I read around and saw that I should focus on getting to Mining IV ASAP...and was curious where to go before/during/after that.  I'd greatly appreciate ANY tips, hints, tricks, and builds anyone can suggest.  Thank you!

    The income from mining is so pathetic that you can make more running level 3 missions with a 2 month old combat character than you can mining with a 1+ year old maxed out mining character.

    Not true at all. Mining is a fantastic albeit boring but necessary way of making money.

    hourly income

    mining in 0.0(spoduman and arkonor for 3 hours-60-70mil isk

    missioning for 3 hours in lvl 4 mishes-40-50mil

    ratting for 3 hours in 0.0- 60-65

     

    mining is a better way to make money but boring i so it to make stuff an even bigger profit

    pls dont say teh profits of mining are small as they are in good areas the best you can get unless you are really really good at working the market

    Boy math is pretty solid, I know I mine 3700m3 of ore per 3 minutes. Ark is going for ab out 550-580isk per m3 so 2,146,000 isk per 3 minutes or 42mil a hour. now thats with out gang mods and only T1 crystals. Put in T2 crystals you get 60-70 mill easy. and the nice thing about it is its steady income. You know what your going to get each time you go out. If you rat out in 0.0 you could get anywhere from 5 mil a hour to 400. missions can be the same way though mostly you will not see them get above 20-30mil a hour

    Well like somone said you can make more isk running level 3 missions than mining, That is correct. However you will need the gear and the skills. It will take ages to make some decent isk with lev 1 and 2 missions with your cruiser. And also if you want to be a miner you can make a lot more than lev 3 misisons if you are mining bistot with some protection. If I started all overt again I would start as a miner which eve lets you start with mining and refining fairly high levels i guess lev 4 or even 5 but other skills will be low.

    What I would do is start a full on mining character. Train to a retriever. Find some folks or a corp does 0.0 mining. During making isk while mining train for a fighter. You will end up enough isk to buy a battleship and the skills and the implants if you are patient enough because this is a game you need to be patient.
