'nuff said. This game doesn't give any excuses.
If you can't beat a mission, go back out and do it again 'til you get good.
If you can't win in PvP, go back out and try a different build 'til you get good.
If you can't afford time to grind gear that may or may not drop for hours and hours of game play, go out into GW and play 'til you get good.
Because frankly, in the time that you spend in other games trying to grind gear for an edge in any kind of gameplay, you could be getting good at Guild Wars already.

Yeah, the majority of players want it easy and as such guild wars will fail because the players come from inferior games and ruin their attention spans by giving them everything they want
But I want to chase carrots on sticks!
Just kidding, recently quit WoW and going back to Guild Wars... I only own the original, but it's free so. Cool.
Yes that is a good thing about Guild Wars however.... my main problem is that most players will not let people play how they want. Meaning there is one build for this and if you don't have it that way you are a noob. I don't like people who think that way and it seems most people do. Other than that it's cool.
In what way does it rule the roost? I have never seen anyone suggest guild wars as the best pvp mmo. Its definitely not any good for pve considering its over in the blink of an eye, so in what way does it rule?
Guild Wars has the best PvP in the MMO genre (obviously understanding that GW is not and does not consider itself a MMO as it is a CORPG). You may not like how GW is set up and it's overall style, that is perfectly understandable as it is not a game for everyone. However, Guild Wars PvP is extremely deep and you sound like you are a person who is speaking of their 15-30 minute experience in Random Arena where, often the battle is over pretty quickly. Have you ever been in a see-saw GvG battle lasting 30 mins? I did not think so.
You might be coming from a game most likely where you are teh 1337 ganksta. It might not be as fun for you when someone else will always have a build that can destroy yours and you have to rely on your teammates to help you win. Guild Wars stands alone at the top of the PvP gaming world because it is not shear mob size / gear / level / class that determines who wins and loses, it is how teams are made up to compliment eachother and how the work together.
I hope this answers your question, "..., so in what way does it rule?"

definitely not, this game has plenty of excuses and is f2p which is a reason why it isnt all that great. the gear all looks the same and it has a trashy quest system. heroes were ok not much a help though when on large fights.

ROFLMAOBBQSAUCEALLOVERTHEPLACE!one11!!one!It is a good thing I was given another copy of "Sting", except my version starts to glow around trolls instead of orcs. Its glowing really brightly right now. I would ask what game you are comparing the quest system to...but I already know. Since you enjoy the other kind of quest system so much, I am sure you are going to work for FedEx when you grow up because you have had all that practice.
Remember people, it is okay to like two different games...
