It is official the game will not release in 2007 but it does not matter what the official release date is.   AoC will not release in March of 2008 rather late summer to winter 2008 is the earliest you will see this game release.  The same thing goes for War although War is reputed to be further ahead in development.  Both games will struggle to release in 2008. It normally takes close to 5 years to develop a MMO and nowadays as big as games are and with  the added expectations of polish and finish it should take at minimum 1 year of beta testing.  You can get by with less if you use paid beta testers to actually beta test the game prior to beta like WoW.  But that is not the norm.  This game will not release anytime soon.  Close release dates are just marketiung and attempt to make fanboys froth at the mouth in anticipation.  One of the goals of prerelease marketing is to keep fanboys in a constant state of anticipation and need.  We would be best served having the attitude  that we all are better off if they take their time and neither game is released until 2009.

Based on what exactly? they are only postponing the game becuase of lame people playing wow cant play aoc because the battle system was to complicated for them. <Mod Edit>

Good news for me. I haven't had a PC capable of Games since May of 06 and was worried about the October release date. Now I have a chance of being ready for it.

I am betting that Zippy is right I don't foresee this game out until after 2008.  With all the stuff they say they are putting into it: cutting edge music, MMO cutting edge graphics, snazzy combat, some sort of unexplained spell casting i.e. weaving, casting penalties are unexplained. Heck they haven't even filled out the assassin's role.  I just don't see it in March 2008.  They claim to have 4 years into it and have changed the way combo's work several times  according to the developers and they still don't have it right.   Heck we will all have double quad cores and GForce 10000s by the time it comes out so the game graphics will be a joke for our uber systems.   So woot on the delay.

They're postponing because the beta testers said that the learningcurve is too steep. They show that they're listening to their community, who found that something didn't work as well as Funcom had anticipated, so they're changing so the faults that people have found.

As far as I've gathered, "in the end" you'll have the same options as you had before, but they will be given to you gradually instead of all from level 1. This doesn't change the skill needed to play the endgame, it only makes the start of the game easier.. If you're "hardcore", you won't be at the first levels for very long, so you'll have the options that are removed from the lower levels soon enough..
