Blizzard is currently adding features in WoW that are in City of Heroes for a long time.
Is that good? Up to you, but Blizzard, as a reputation, of stealing the best design and ideas and to incorporate them...and they are working hard on the leading non-fantasy MMORPG in NA, which is CoH.

Its the easiest game to find teams in if you like to group, but only in the lower levels. after level 20 your mostly on your own. Freedom and virtue are the only heavily populated servers so i'd pick one of them.
Excuse me? On Guardian, my lvl 30 Defender can count on 1 or 2 invites even when I'm just on for a couple minutes checking out my template for a planned respec.

QFT -- I never have trouble finding groups at any level 1-50. Well, I never play my level 50, but you know what I mean.
That brings up another point -- do NOT play this game if you are in it for the "endgame." There isn't much of one. Luckily, I usually hate the endgame content of all MMOGs.

What is Blizzard adding that's been in CoH for a long time? New dances, hair styles and an unlockable AT? All have been done before in SWG.
CoH is the best game you've ever played in your life, for about a month. Then you get bored with it. But still, the month of nirvana is well worth the price of the download or the box.
I don't want to write this, and you don't want to read it. But now it's too late for both of us.
It's not easy to answer the question: is this game any good?
All depends what you want in a game. Personally i am a main fan of sandbox games, but at the same time i played CoH for a long time (my veteran rewards are near 27 months).
Pro:
. fast action and a nice diversity in powersets and archetypes, that give you a good feeling, especially in well formed teams.
. a Company (Cryptic) that never stop to put innovations and content into game, planning them much more before their release (now they added Issue 10 and already we have in game some new building constructions around Paragon that announce new misterious addictions).
. a decent community (altough it depends mostly by server, i can only speak about european community)
. a background totally different from the usual fantasy genre
. if u like comics super heroes, you have to try it.
Cons:
. quest-driven game (well not totally a cons, but being a sandbox fan, it is in my opinion)
. extremely repetitive gameplay. You can fix this for some time using different chars (this is why CoH is one of the most altish-char game ever seen). Some special mission (trials and task forces) can be very fun tho.
. no depth, altough some story (if u are one that actually read what the npc say ) is nice, just as a comic story.
. pvp with no reason to do. Altough pvp could be an interesting end-game feature with all the diversities in heroes and villains, it is not supported by any story. Furthermore, Cryptic emphasizes more the cooperative play, definitely leaving pvp just managed by group of players.
At the end, i think CoH/CoV worth a try, but after getting the first lvl 50 char, it is just a casual playtime or simply go over playing another mmo.
Of course, this can be completely different if you find in game a good group of friends. This is true for any MMO: if you stay with a group of good friends, you can find some decent fun at any time.
COV is a great game. Ill be play it till warhammer or AOC gets out.
End game for me is PVP (arena)
I suggest joining a SG/VG and PVP more. The best part of the game is the PVP rivalry. Even tho Villains are underpowered, there is great satisfaction when you defeat a whole hero team. I remember this one SG called LOTD. Whenever any LOTD was spotted in a PVP zone we would drop anything we were doing and fight them. It got so bad it spilled out to the COV forums, our own websites and eventually to our Teamspeak server. We went thru this several more times with at least 5 more SG's.
PVP is still active in zones, not as much as before. Base raids are back in style. Bugs are pretty much gone. I did a base raid last night. Kinda fun trashing someone elses base.

- EPIC classes, not in a way as in SWG where epic shaft evething else, but in a way where epic is neat and nice, yet most casuals won't care to play one since they are never the best at anything with these new guys.
- Grouping endgame (not of the scope of the RSF/STF, but getting there eventually, give it 3 expansions and it will be equal to raiding gear).
- Faster regen between fights.
- Faster travels.
- Less debt while grouped (they took the debt idea directly from CoH, and they are improving it just like CoH did).
I expect them to announce Sidekick, more instancing and more customisation anytime. I am pretty sure I forget many things they are copying, since my interest toward WoW is limited at best.

Fun for about a month then the wash and repeat hits hard... just becomes incredibly repetitive to the max.
I have been playing it for over 3 years and I still am having alot of fun. There have been a lot of improvements over the last 3 years and while there are some things that are repetive (which can be said for most games out there) it is still is a lot of fun to play.
CoH is the best game you've ever played in your life, for about a month. Then you get bored with it.
True, but then you just have to stop playing for a couple of days and it's fun all over again. I'll be playing CoH for a long time, but I'd never make it my only MMO.

I do the same thing in a way. I have fired it up for a month something like four different times. Always same deal, I dig it really hard for a few weeks and then get burned out. Still, a great game (in short bursts) overall.

It's definately not a hardcore gamer's game by any stretch.
First off, I'm new to this site. Been going here for awhile and finally took time to register. I've played many an MMO in my time, and until recently I haven't found anything that just gave me that feeling that I really was excited to be playing. The only game that had ever done that for me as a matter of fact was EQ Live, and then I started playing City of Heroes. If you enjoy comic books or even comic movies this game is for you. It very much has that Marvel or DC feel to it. Its a great break from the burnt out fantasy genre, and the customization is one of the best things about this game. I love running around and grouping and seeing all these different super hero/heroine ideas that I would never have thought of, yet are still downright awesome in their own right. The community is solid, haven't seen any childish activity going on that plagues WoW, no I'm 733T talk or any of that jazz. Grouping is actually fun in this game, and to have everyone's effects and powers going as you fight 10 or more mobs at once is a rush. This game is still going strong after 3 years (a problem that encouraged me to quit SWG), and the graphics and mechanics have aged well. No fighting for camp spots or raids, no "uber treasures" to speak of. Rather you upgrade your powers with drops from mobs replicated only for you, and there are also recipes which are easy and allow you to augment yourself even more. There are small rewards every time you level, whether it be pick a new power or augment a current one. Travel powers, capes, titles, all rewards that actually worth it. The classic archetypes are wonderfully covered up and put forth in a super hero light here. Tanks are still present in the form of Tankers (go figure), mages take on a whole new meaning by the archetype of Blaster, Defenders are more than simple healers. All and all I must say that I personally have found the MMO for me, after playing them for over 5 years.
