OK. I'm new to MMORPG Games

I've not even attempted a MMORPG game since Ultima Online.

and I quickly dropped out of that game due to the number of PK-ers

so. I am looking at a few games.

WOW / EQII / Lineage II

But I'm wanting something like Warcraft3 or NeverWinter. (Hack & Slash, Progressive play and leveling for characters, and cooperative skills)

I am wanting to have tasks or quests that I or a group can go and complete cooperativley without being drug down by some jerk who gets me outside a city and kills me when he offored to help image

So. What would you reccomend?

I'm willing to spend up to $15 a month plus standard game price.

I also am looking for something that my fiance can play simultaneously (yeah, I know, buy 2 copies) But something we can work together on and develop side by side... (yep, it's her idea.)

Any suggestions or warnings about what to or not to get?

I play Lineage 2 and if you left UO becouse of pkers you wont like this game its full of them

Lineage 2 is garbage.  Sounds like you would be more interested in games like City of Hero's or maybe Guild Wars.  They are more fast paced and action oriented.  If you want more of a roleplaying game then I suggest EQ2 or WoW.

The game I am most looking forward to is definitely WOW... I don't know much about Lineage II but most of the reviews I've read said it was pretty mediocre.  I personally don't care for EQ2 and I don't like SOE very much.

So my recommendation would definitely have to be WOW image

    Thanks all...

I don't really want to buy lineage2 mainly because of the reviews. (gotta love the elf's in thongs thoughimage)

But WOW and EQ2 are quite a ways off.

Would you reccomend the platinum EQ-1? or Asheron's call 2? to tide me over till WOW or EQ2 is published?

Yeah I started EQ1 again while waiting for EQ2 and WoW.  They have a free 30 trial no creditcard needed, all you gotta do is download it and make a free account at the website.  No need to even buy anything and you get EQ and first 2 expansions free, if you want to keep playing then you can purchase more and pay the monthly fee.  You will want to buy the SOL expansion if you want the new souped up graphics and char mods, till then its just basic models, but the gameplay is good.

    Hey thanks.

    I am downloading EQ-1

I shy'd away from it when all my friends started calling it "ever-CRACK" because I knew My marrage couldn't survive it.

Well... alot of good that did. I'm now divorced but back in the game with a sexy red-head (wonder how she'd look with pointy ears... anyone know how I can get ahold of the makeup artists from LOTR?!?)

    Anyways.

I'm going to take your advice and try EQ-1.

One question though. is the graphics update worth purchasing the new expantion copies?

Sorry to hear about your situation.  I basically went through the same thing.  I think the graphics improvement of SOL is HUGE.  Thats when the game really shines, I think you can buy it now for 20 dollars or so, maybe less.  See if you like the gameplay first and then decide.  If you want to look me up in game, my name is Birdiar, and I can help you get started.  command is /tell birdiar (then type message).  Hope that helps.

Well, on July 26th SOE is releasing EverQuest: Platinum, which includes Original Everquest and all 7 expansion packs.  And the price I saw was only $30 Canadian, and I assume you get a month free with that as well.  So you can't really argue with that price too much.

Well EQ2 i have no comment since it has not got much feedback yet.

WoW seems to have very mixed reviews .

L2 as far as i am concerned is just a notch better then shadowbane .Which makes it a horrible game in my view. Also you are tired of pkers then don't come there.

Some games you might want to try....

DAoC-Awesome RvR Realm vs realm.....you can pick from 3 different realms. Each with there set of races and classes. This game also has an awesome crafting skill which you can gain over 1000 level s in the main craft you pick.(have a rouge with 400+ skill in alchemy)

EQ-This is probably my favorite MMORPG...as I have all 7 expansions that are currently out and it is a fun game with alot to do. PvP, crafting, role-playing, adventureing......very fun game and alot of nice people to make up an awesome community.

City of Heros-Awesome costume and character customization, I mean literally billions of costume types and alot of action....not alot of content but it is fun with what you can do.

Lineage 2-I have heard good and bad things about this game......Good-Awesome graphics alot to do.
Bad-Adena famers, a bunch of pkers......
*I do not recommend this game if you hate open end pvp*

Star wars galaxies-One of my least favorite MMOS....to me was sorta boring and the whole job system i really did nto like.....but there is alot of content from what i remembers and now you can even be a jedi which looks cool....and the new expansion will add space flight so you cna have your own x-wings and all

Final Fantasy XI-This game was really cool...i had alot of fun playing it.....thing people hate about this game is after level 10-15..lyou basically need a group to level...but in my eyes thats cool because that makes it feel more like FF i mean in all FF you were always in a group no?

ShadowBane-I have not played this on in a bit....but from what i hear the game has gotten alot better and pvp is fun and you can own your own town(s) with your guild and stuff...when i played this game i had alot of fun. theres alot of things to do and stuff in this game.

Horizons-In this game there is over 15 crafting classes and over 15 adventure classes......the crafting system is the best i have ever seen and all in all the game was alot of fun.

Well I hope this list of mmorpgs has helped you or anyone else...and i;m sure there are soon other mmos i did not put on here but maybe someone else will
