Guild Wars looks dead (in prophecies)

SpungeXSpungeX Member Posts: 144

I played prophecies in 2005 and 2006, and probably my favourite only experience out of a lot of games, just re-installed did pre-searing and a mission or 2, quite fun again. But to my disappointment all the pve missions and getting groups for various quests is really hard as there is no-one around.

Ok i thought, everyone's done them and they are playing factions or nightfall, then i went to check out the pvp which was what i loved most about the game, especially hall of heroes (or hero's ascent). But hero's ascent is dead compared to what it was when i used to play, same with TA.

Im not really sure how the whole new chapters works. Is heroes ascent, TA and competitive the same in all the chapters? Is the turn-out im seeing there everyone who has any guild wars or is there different pvp things for each chapter. Also if i got nightfall or factions now would it be easy to get teams for quests and missions, unlike prophecies.

No, those areas are the same for all campaigns. So what you see is a massive decline in PvP players. Most are either playing GvG, have moved on to other games, or are farming in Alliance Battles. RA and TA is mostly used to test out or practice builds, and HA has been pretty slow for a long time already now.

Since the announcement of GW2, a lot of players left, because they felt like they were grinding for nothing. Don't really understand this, but ok. Also a lot of players left because they got bored after all this time. And some left because ANet diverged from the 'skill over time spent' path and introduced more and more grind gradually. It has become, in some cases, 'time spent for skill' path.

ive been playing since the first beta announced and i have seen no decline really. What you see is mainly players wanting to do more pvp since its the most competitive PvP out there for a online game. And why would GW2 drive ppl away...its a brand new game..new lands...new stuff...its evolution into the worlds history. They dont want to be dumb like other games and keep it in the same time setting everytime they make a new game. They want to tell a story of the world GW resides in and frankly they are doing the best job of that. I havent seen a game do any better.

Where did you look at HA? Go to international dists as most are there now days. HA is pretty active now that Anet made it 8 players teams again and have done lot of changes to map that players have been asking.

I can agree that prophecies isn't same what it used to be, but you can still find enough players during peak time at least on EU side. They should change it so that on default everyone meet at international dist if there isnt enough players.

HA is indeed dieing. Compared to what it was a year ago, it is quite empty. After anet screwed up big time  and introduced 6v6 and kill count into HA , a lot of the good players left and anet fixed it only recently after almost a year passed so I doubt many of the old PvPers will come back to Guild Wars.

As for PVE, its not that the the PVEr population decreased, its that its more spread apart now. Before you only had 1 continent with only so many outposts where people could meet. Now you have 3 and three times as many outposts/missions, so the population, while staying the same, is more thinned out then before.

It's a shame for HA. Fame is pretty much useless. Doesn't say much anymore.
