Just my openings line when I log into the game ........... 
Seeing more and more returning players in game and even some new ones, I like to give my opinion about the game. As monarch of one of the bigger guilds on Solclaim and as a player since 2001, I have seen the worst and the best, I think. I can tell for hours about the game or write many pages, but please believe me, AC is one of the best games available. In the years AC has developed a more or less social player base, where young and old can have fun but also have good relationships. A helping hand is easily found.
Besides the normal hunting, the game contains hundreds of quests and every month new content is added. Since the start in 1999, 2 major upgrades have taken place, the last in 2005 with the Throne of Destiny. This was the start of some very interesting story lines. AC has a small but dedicated developers team who earns much credit. Always busy to add content and to improve the game to modern standards. It is true the graphics are less then the ones of the later games, but they are more then acceptable. The hard core group of players is always saying: "Nice pictures are nice but content is more important".
Some people fear to be the only low level in game when they start. Simply not true. As I said many returning and new players start from scratch and older players have often lower playable characters (7 chars per account). Of course you can't become level 275 (the cap) in a few weeks or months time. But with some effort you can develope your chars rather quick to a nice level and will be abel to join the "big guys" on their quests. And those same big guys are often friendly and helpful for the lower ones and give much assistance in developing.

just logged in last night. was rather surprised to see players about and in global chat. Guess i've made the full circle. !st mmo other than text based I played back in the late 90's and now back again. Any good sites out there for newbs?
AC Vault is the best place for new quest write ups now. Also they have the most active forums.
Maggie's used to be good, but she doesn't update it anymore. Her site is good for older content though.
AC Maps is also good for dungeon maps. However, like Maggie's a lot of new stuff is missing.
Asheron's Guide has a nice character builder and other tools.
AC Heaven has a list of all the Decal plugins and some patch information.
