hello there i have recently been playing Vanguard again for the last few weeks and u ntill this weekend never really suffered from ctd's. over the weekend i seem to have one every 5 mins and i cant see what i have changed. i have a radeon x600 card that i think needs upgrading but i would like some advice for a cost friendly upgrade. i am looking at spending about £150.00 on a new one.
also can anyone give any advice on tweaks that may help for ctd's? or maybe a link for a stupid persons guide for VG tweaks?
thanks for any help you can offer

Something happened this weekend to cause a lot of people to crash more frequently. I had been on a crash free streak of about a week, but then had a number of crashes this weekend. I doubt it's your hardware, but if you use Vista your issue could be there.

ahh thanks for the reply i will go through that link and see what i can find. it was the same for me. i had been on a crash free streak but it became unplayable over the weekend. so maybe something happened global that they could be working on. i will see how it is tonight and post if it improves.
thanks again for the reply.
If you have been traveling around a lot, or doing certain specific things that are memory-intensive, you may just be triggering one of the known CTD causes. Crossing chunk lines, using the riftway and teleporters, and accessing the broker a lot have all been triggers for me. I can sometimes tell when a CTD is getting likely because my graphics get glitchy, I get weird hitches away from towns and chunk lines, and I have to use /flush a lot.
the strange thing is i am getting ctd's even if i leave my pc on the char select screen? i can run eq2 with nps. then last night i played for about 4 hours with no ctd's. this morning i turn my pc on and again every 3 to 5 mins a ctd. i'm just going to bear with it untill the next patch i think and see what happens. thanks for all the advice though
Bugs are one thing, but I don't understand these CTDs. That is just basic programming 101. Any half decent error handling scheme can prevent this. If even these basic rules are not followed I start to wonder how the code looks like and if there is any hope left barring a complete rewrite.
on my system VG plays well other than ctd's now! the thing is i love the game. i love the way my ranger plays, i love the crafting and i love the huge world i play in. i dont want packed content i want a game where it feels quiet in places. but CTD's can be game breaking. i wish they could just rewrite the code or something to get rid of them, the other bugs rct i can wait 12 months for i dont mind. hey i played eq from day one in europe and started the trueshot bow quest at level 7 and had to wait 6 months for them to get me past the bugged start. but blacked out screens stops it all please SOE fix this for me.
ok absolutely love the game but im afraid i just cant afford to buy a new pc to play it maybe i can try again in 6 months or so to see if the game can run. but the last week i have been having ctd's in under 2 mins a time which makes the game unplayable. i really do like this game and feel bad to have to let it go, but it seems i have no choice. hate myself for saying this but maybe soe could hire blizzard developers to sort the game out? not that i like WoW but you have to admit the game runs so smooth that maybe they could be hired to help VG?
sorry if this seems a rant but i am so dissapointed to be forced to leave VG
good luck all and hopefully i can come back when the games fixed!
