I thought it was a pretty decent movie, but the factual inaccuracies really ruined some of it for me. That and the language didn't sound right either. I hated the fact that they gave the Vikings that movie look. Real Vikings didn't have Horns on their helms. Nor were they as blood thirsty and ruthless as in this movie. Yes they raped, pillaged, and generally weren't nice guys but they weren't beasts as this movie made them out to be.
It just really bothers, especially after living in Iceland for 3 years and really experiencing their culture and rich history. Plus the language hasn't really changed and they speak the closest dialect to actually viking language.

i havnt seen it yet but read reviews for it and the best one i have found was on joehorror.com. its losely based on facts so thats where creative ownership comes in. i hate it when movies try and base themselves on history or facts cause there never true. MAKE A MOVIE HAVE FUN BUT DONT TELL ME TITANIC IS BASED ON A TRUE STORY. GRRR sory had to get that out. if i wanted facts i would watch the history channel. i want entertainment thats it. so now and days i realy dont expect anything from movies except fun good story.
Oh don't get me wrong. I didn't expect facts, I just wish that movies would stop perpetuating the myth that Vikings wore helmets with Horns on them. It doesn't make them any less scary without the horns. They are still Vikings!

true true. i understand where your coming from. vikings where generaly nice. they just didnt like people in there space well thats my understanding its been a long long while since i read up on them so i could be wrong.
If I go into it expecting nothing but an action movie without any historical accuracy, would you recommend it?
I drive a Pathfinder. Does that count? lol what I thought this post was before reading
I am also slightly interested in seeing this and I am willing to waive my History Channel right to facts...one thing I heard from multiple sources was the dialogue was simply horrendous when it was there at all. Is that the case, does the action make up for it?
"It is easier to be cruel than wise. The road to wisdom is long and difficult... so most people just turn out to be assholes" Feng (Christopher Walken)
The action was actually really good. I would recommend it as an action movie.
