hmmm, I had a strange occurrence yesterday. Cant be sure if it came from theis site or not, but my comp suddenly rebooted, and I had a very fast blue screen with message on it that vanished too quickly to read and then it just kept rebooting itself and doing the same thing.

I had to reformat and its running fine now.

I use IE7 but I dont have active x disabled. Maybe I'll try Firefox again then

Actixe X is what you want it to be :)

They exploit active X with IE and that contains the virus.

Hmm, dunno. Haven't been in the cronous forums in forever.

Edit; I can't even find a cronous section here. Were they posting in general discussion?

It was all over the general forums and the open beta forums. I reported a whole bunch of the posts myself. The next day after all their threads were deleted and accounts banned (im assuming) .  Quite a large number of why the hell are you banning us for no reason threads popped up. I think the guys that run cronous started some sort of idiotic flood mmorpg.com contest as they had a msg about it on their site at some point.

Heheh, I seem to recall some hasty patches for Firefox just recently, since some code that could exploit IE was also able to take advantage of Firefox.

Firefox is no doubt safer for casual/novice web surfers, and is a good alternative to IE even for advanced users as far as some things go. But it is nowhere near totally secure. No browser is, and as long as browsers require code and an internet connection, they never will be. So, saying that Firefox is safer than IE in alot of ways is true, but giving the impression that it's totally secure is not. And as evidenced already by members in this post, not everyone here is an expert on what can/can't happen regarding their browsers/software/computers, etc., so they need to know that they still have to take precautions no matter what browser they use.

Hmm, think I'll go see what they've got over at their forums. Those users might be a good place to look for the IT guys here; maybe something as far as the IP's  and such to see if someone got sloppy. Probably a long shot, with proxies and all, but who knows.

Edit: I just went over to their official forums, looks like they're having serious problems with someone hacking into all of their systems right now. Curious coincidence?

you need to quit surfing the net if your using internet explorer seriously. that thing is just asking to get your computer infected.

I think the fact IE7 prevented me from being infected sort of counteracts that point.
