duo processor question

sadeissadeis Member Posts: 152

I just saw the specs for tabula rasa which is a p4 3.5 processor so my question is this: I just bought a new duo processor which is 2 x 2.33 ghz 4mb l2 cache/1333 fsb.....does the two processors equal more than the p4 3.5 or not...I'm not quite sure how that works...thanks

    To put it bluntly.

Your C2D is far superior to the p4 3.5.

So yes, you will be able to play TR.

    I have a C2D 2.13, 2mb Cache, 8800 gts, 4 gb of 800 ram and I play TR on highest settings at 1280x1024, without a hitch.

    It looks very very good.

This all assumes you have an ok Graphic card though.. ;)

yeah I have 2 8800gts 640 mb so I think I should be ok on the video card I also bought a 22 inch widescreen monitor with a 1680x1050 resolution....I had to upgrade to play all the new games coming out but was kind of worried about the processor so thanks for easing my mind on that one.

Your processor is probably rated about 6.8ghz or somewhere there.

    I know my C2D E6600 with 1066FSB @ 2.40ghz is rated 6.8.

There's just no need to overclock.

Kind of like those old AMDs. That AMD 3200 may have had 2.1ghz on paper, but it was still far superior than, say, a 3.2 P4 at that time.

Intel with the Pentium Processor attempted to chug as many ghz as they can out of it for pure marketing reasons.  However, the increase of ghz hindered performance and increase power consumption.  So having a 3.4 ghz pentium processor, is like having a 2.0 ghz AMD processor.

so are you saying that amd is better than intel?

This was 5 years ago.  Just saying that Pentium is not as good as its AMD counterparts because they were trying to market ghz rather then performance.

Duo outperforms AMD in most areas except Memory Latency, cost, and energy consumption.

I have a 600 watt power supply do you think that's enough?
