Ha ha i plan on trying both to tell u the truth,  Which ever one seems better to me.  I will stick with.... but if i had to choose I'm leaning more toward War right now.  I'm big pvp fan, so that might be a big decision  factor.

I will ofc try before i buy, but if i had to pick one without trying i'd definatly go for Age of Conan....

Other than that Tabula Rasa is looking pretty great too.

I don't like PvP games at all, but I would choose AoC. Daoc was a really good game, but Warhammer is so wow alike, I could never play such a game.

I don't believe that War will be another WoW.  It has some similar graphics, but i think it will be a whole different game.  Mythic just follow the War original designs.  I'm not a big Wow fan and i still would put more faith in War then that.

The odds of any game actually being good or even very good is usually very low.  Warhammer and AoC have advantages in that both are well funded and being made by companies that have produced quality games.

What is differnt about the two games is the target audience.  AoC seems to be interested in attracting the worst of the kiddie audience by focusing peoples attention on blood, gore, nudity, M rating and decapitations.  The first words out of the head devs mouth at E3 this year was "Our game has boobies."  When that was said a good portion of the press people there turned around and looked at each other in disgust.  If you have followed AoC's marketing it has emphasized almost soley the the sensational kiddie apsects of this game.  It is a shame as there appears to be a lot of solid ideas in AoC which seem to be taking back seat in importantance to gaining the attention of juvenile hormones.  If one thought WoW's community was bad AoC apears to be on the way to attracting an even worse community.  All this being said if the game is a quality game people will play it even with this marketing.  I just hope they consider putting in  pg 13 servers so adults have some place to go to avoid the kiddies.

Warhmmer has been getting rave reviews from those that played it in the last two E3's.  Beta leaks are amazingly positive.  While beta leaks should be largely ignored the overall tone is important and often indicates how well a game is developing.  I have only seen one game get this many positive reviews and positive beta leaks and that was WoW.  The combat seems to be borrowing a lot from Daoc with positional, reactive and chain attacks.

If either game is good they will attract a lot of players.  Both games are highly anticipated and the only two major games we will see for quite awhile.  What else is there besides these two games.  Nothing for a major games.  STO seems to be tanking.  There are many minor games game coming out in the next few years but with limited budgets they are always such a long shot and like Eve will have a great deal of difficulty releasing smoothly and with content.  If both games are good I am sure both will be successful. and it may come down to preference.  My guess is AoC will attract the younger more immature kiddie 18-25 year old audience and Warhammer will appeal more to adults, those who have better social skills and players more interested in a cooperative game.  Regardless of my thoughts, personal playstyles and my prejudices I hope they both do well.  We would all benefit greatly by both games being well done and upping the bar of quality for what is expected in MMO's.

Don't forget that Lotro is out and is doing pretty well...it will probably have higher populations than either war or aoc.

I  agree with you about LOTRO growing.  Although my knowledge about LOTR is limited ( I played beta have a lifetime acct but rarely play due to my Vanguard addiction).  While I have played LOTR enough to make a final judgement and I have concerns about much of the game design there is no denying its a well made quality game and a game that should keep growing and adding to its subscriber base as it gets older.

Will LOTR have a higher subscriber base than AoC or Warhammer?  My exoectation is that Warhammer and AoC are both at least a year away and may even slide into 2009,  During that time and after LOTR should have its subscriber base continue to grow.   But LOTR does not seem to generate the buzz that AoC and particularily Warhammer have been generating for years.  the amount of hits that Warhammer has been geting on the fansites is nothing less than amazing.  Compare that to LOTR which despite its name was quite under the radar in terms of people paying attention.  LOTR to me is a game that has been growing because of its poplularity.  But it has nowhere near the hype and buzz that Warhammer is getting.

I doubt anygame can be the next WoW but Warhammer has the potential to be very big.  If the beta leaks are true and thew game really is good it has everything there to be a hugely popular game.  It has the name, the following, PvP and its being designed to keep people playing well past the level cap.  The question is will it be a fun game that keeps people playing?  Thats hard to do and probably unlikely bt everything we have been hearing is exceptionally psoitive aqnd I am generally a pesemist in regards to new games in development.  The same argument here goes for AoC although I am not a big fan of AoC.  But either way I hope both AoC and Warhammer do well and I hope LOTR does well its a good game and Turbine deserves to be rewarded.  The better these games are the more people will eb attracted to MMO's and hopefully the quality bard of what is expected will be raised.

I hope you are kidding.  If you really believe this maybe you should ask the Easter Bunny, Santa, or  the Tooth Fairy for a ride back to reality.
