At the recent SOE Fan Faire in Las Vegas, a couple from Chicago tied the knot both in real life and in-game. Today, the folks at SOE were kind enough to provide us with a video of the event.

Sad because two people found each other in a game they love and got married at the Fan Fair? Whats sad is people like you who feel the need to belittle people over your petty jealousy. Grow up dude.
Congrats to the newly weds.

Yes but, getting married at a gaming convention? Not a exactly a model location to vow life oaths.

I think it is sweet that two people found each other and took vows as part of something they love. People have to be turn to themselves and like who they are. If games is a shared passion, why not?

LIFE VOWS?!?! Look at the divorce rate man...so getting married at a church means you love somone more? I think not.
Wouldnt want to get married like that myself, but hey whatever floats their boat . Wonder where they went for the honeymoon .
Itsa already been done and probably in most MMO's by now.
Cant say I care to be honest but i am sure it will get milked for all the shallow free publicity its worth.
and if she turns out to be a dragon, he can always re-roll.
To err is human....to play is divine
Ha! That's brilliant!
They both obviously enjoy gaming, and they both obviously enjoy attending gaming conventions. I can't think of a more appropriate place for them to be married.
I saw this video on another website a couple of days ago. Every response to the video on the other site was something like "How pathetic" or something like "They are just stupid and sad". Although I do think their marriage was unusual, I really don`t think it is as strange as some people would say. I know a couple who met at a golf course and wound up getting married at the course that they met at. It was a nice wedding. I have also heard (and seen pics) of a couple who were married on the side of a cliff. They had met while rock climbing so that`s were they decided to have the ceramony. This Fan Fare wedding is all fine by me. I personally think it`s great that they found each other. Meeting in a MMO is just like meeting someone in any other hobby.
Raiding for sure
There is nothing wrong with a couple showing their love for each other where ever it may be my only real hatred for this type of thing is that it's clearly SOE propaganda at work, either that or I'm paranoid. Best of luck to them both though!
Quoting people doesn't make you clever, in fact, it makes you all the more stupid for not bothering to read the quotes you post in the first place.
Untrue. In a virtual world/game called Entropia Universe, there was a wedding where they were broadcasting the real-life wedding in an ingame nightclub, and on the wedding was a computer screen where it showed the ingame world with people celebrating the wedding.

Who has ever mandated that a wedding MUST be in a "conventional" setting to be valid? The fact that they have been together for four years is evidence enough of their commitment to each other, as well as to the gaming world. Mutual interests only serve as a good foundation for a lasting relationship. Hurrah to them and I hope the half-elven children realize their good fortune in choosing them as parents.
Only cats can walk through walls and appear at the darnest times/places.
I, for one, would not marry at a game convention. Or, at least, that's what I say now. Who knows if I'll change my mind down the road.
These two people found love and shared it with others both online and in the real world. It's a wonderful gesture and I do hope they have many happy years ahead of them.
It might come across as somewhat tacky, but so do Vegas weddings.
Congrats to the both of them!
