Tonight I plan to head out to EB Games to purchase a new game. I dont know which one, I just know I want to play a new MMORPG with my brother for the next few nights. We have some time off -- and are just gunna game it up for a few days straight.
Just thought I'd put this out there, if any has the answers to any of these questions for any game....let me know:
Risk Your Life
Matrix Online
Dungeons and Dragons Online
Archlord
Ryzom
1. What are the first 1-20 levels really like? Is gameplay exciting in the beginning, even with a group of say only 2 people?
2. What are the classes like? Dependable on each other? Unique from each other? You can list them if you want as well, but don't feel the need.
3. Is there PvP and how is it really set up?
4. Is armor unique? I find armor to be a big part of my game, and if it's all the same, I get bored of everyone's looks.
5. Are there mounts or other unique transportation methods?
6. Are there people playing? Or will I feel left empty in a very large world..
7. Controls. Always a biggie. I'm a huge WASD fan with my right click to control where I look -- standard, i dont like Point n Click.
Well I suppose that's all....hope to hear some awesome stuff.

I'd say if your only playing the next few nights that you probably shouldn't go with a mmo. Your better bet would be to maybe go and get counterstrike or something you can just jump right into. Besides all those games on your list haven't gotten really good reviews. If you are dead set on an mmo my bet would be to get guild wars as it would seem to meet most of your criteria..hope that helps.
Thanks for the response. However, Guild Wars isn't much of an MMO in my opinion. Although I am just playing for the next 2 night, I will continue over the year. I have CS and all that jazz, I really want a new mmo.

Just incase you didnt know Archlord is free now. This website and others are giving away free cdkeys for it.
I wonder how many of these you'll find at EB... most have free trials or is F2P.
I can speak only of the game I really know, Ryzom.
1. Ryzom is challenging from the start, especially if you solo it. Two players should do fine in most situations.
2. Ryzom is has skills, and you can level everything. It's more efficient to make a traditional party with at least a damage dealer and a healer. But you can swap roles as you wish.
3. Don't really know. The interesting PVP is wars over outposts, I have very little experience of that.
4. The armor has an "alien" look, each race have 3 different types of armor in different colors. Not the most varied armor these days.
5. Yes. But not on the free to play area
6. Ryzom isn't heavily populated, sometimes it feels a bit empty.
7. It's completely configurable.
1,4,5 are free and the 2,3 are massive failures.
while several have negative opinions about d&d online i have throughly enjoyed it for several months. and will adress your post with the information you asked for from the beging that others who have posed have failed to give. insted substuting there half ass opinoionated response.
so to answer you questions in my best ablity
1. the level cap is 14, the first 4 are easy to get in a few days. levels are devided in to 5ranks the first 4 giving u exra enhancement points to spend tward your char(toon).
2.classes are pretty standard, you got mele/ranged/magic users. they are very dependate on each other for the game, it is very group based you cant get very far in the game with out getting in to partys doing specific quests. healers(clerics/bards) are very sought after. while sorc/wizards are almost idential in spells they get, wizards have more control over selection of spells while sorc have more sp.
roges only class that can pick locks/disarm traps sucessfully. you can mulit class but pure classes are stronger and later levels and progressivly stronger at each level.
3. not a very pvp game u go to ceritan taverns in "brawling areas" and can fight each other, usualy in a free for all there.
4.armor is some what varied in ablity, but you will find your standared types are better, as far as aperaince most every one will look different, thou i have had 4 sets of armor that look are identical stat wise as well as apearince. the extra ablities and material armors are far to expensive for most players to afford. luck finding them is most way they are aquired.
5. no mounts. there are teleporters to eliviate long treks in town, town travel is not that bad, higherlevels u can find run % increese items that help. relitively small town area's.
6. just recently turbine has merged world servers in 3 in to 1 ratio, the # of players has exponintaly expanded, where b4 it was hard to find groups doing things, now its much easyer. thou good and bad players are both in abundence.
7. it is wasd based, with click to look. controls can be a bit tricky with hotkeys and such in combat, but there are extensive tutuorials at begining of each made charicter. you can have up to 10 hot key bars, the first one being your # 1-0 keys others are point and click.
well i hope that gives you some insight, if you have any specific questions feel free to e-mail me with any thing, also if you decide to buy the game. there is 14-day free trial out there, and join on the khyber server where i reside i can offer you some assistance to start with. its much easyer getting in to ddo if there is some one to show u the ropes.
g/l desideing something happy gameing
If you're only starting off with a couple nights of play anyway, why not use a free trial of the game instead of dropping cash for it? DDO and Ryzom have trials at least. Archlord just became a free game so you can jump into that one regardless. RYL, not sure if they still offer a trial or not, Matrix does not unless you can get a buddy key from someone on this site or the SOE forums.
DDO is a fast paced, real time combat, WASD movement, click to attack, awesome dungeon crawling game. There is so much to see and do as a new player, you will not get bored easily with this game.
More than likely you will get hooked on this game and want to play more.
Tons of nice looking weapons, all sorts of different color/design on armors.
The classes are different from each other, and you can customize your character to the style you like to play. What I mean by this is, if you pick a ranger, you are not limited to bow use only; you also get two weapon fighting. If you are a cleric, you can specialize in healing or become a battle oriented cleric. Fighters can be made to tank (draw agro and shield block) or be full DPS two handed, two weapon, sword and board.
Rogues are fun, but really squishy... although they do get cool skills like feign death and bluff/diplomacy which allow you to confuse mobs.
Sorcerers are high DPS casters, but you have to plan on which spells you want to specialize in. Wizards on the other hand, get every spell, but they get less mana to use.
Bards are a great asset to any party, not very good by themselves.
Paladins are strong all around. Barbarians are great at DPS, but not as good at tanking.
DDO is fun, fast, easy and addicting. Try the trail, you are not limited at all in the trial.
Did you purposely pick the worst MMOs you could find? lol cause you did

Darkfall: December or vaporware!
Matrix online:
1, The first levels are reletivly easy to get groups are very easy to come by since alot of it does invole needing groups id say 80% of the game involes grouping. At first the gameplay is exciting the combat and fancy moves the buildings just jumping of buildings was fun for me and the music really gets you into it. But having seid that the game gets highly repetative The missions invole doing the same thing over and over into buildings that are identicle.
2,The classes if i can remeber right is, Hacker (the mage type) Assasin (rogue type) Combat (uses king fu ect the warrior) and theres a few more cnt really remeber. In my opinion classes dont really dpeend on other classes no real buffs if you went with 5 assasins in a group i thik youd make the same progress as with a variety no real tanking and all that bla bla.
3. Ahh the pvp lol well its actully very very unique personaly i found it amazing the real time kung fu moves that lool amazing, As 1 guy jumps in the air and the slow motion matrix style kung fu kick u in your ass move takes place. You basically have an action bar at the top of your screen oppsed to the bottem and you have a variety of moves some that require or things to happen say you can only use headbut when one of your moves are dodged Ect... But overall i liked it alot even if it did get repetative its always great to watch.
4, Well as you stated "i get bored of everyones looks" Everyone basically wants to be Neo right? they all want to look like him. have the kool shades black overall thing, Well your gonner bump into 60% of the population if not 80% that lok exactly like that. But there is other looking equipment but all centerd round the same type of style. Armour is also a big part with its buffs that help you deal out more dmg so if you do plan on playing this game remeber to always get new equipment all the time.
5, No there is no mounts, Though many of the games players have pertitiond and begged the game creators to allow you cars or bikes and also a moterway so people can act out the scenes from matrix reloaded i guess lol. Also there is a pretty unique way of transportation you use the subway it doesent sound great but it really gets you into the matrixy real life mood.
6, There is many people still playing this wich is a shocker. Most people here will tell you its an empty game there obvoisly the people who havent played this game and are just mocking this game for there own plesure following the crowd i guess. but overall you will probobly find a group in no time and have plenty of people to speak to, even a guild. its not called a guild i think but i forgot what you call it Gang or sumit like that.
7, The controls are simple Up, down, left right. and i think you can use WASD im not sure havent played in a while and there is no real poiting and clicking so dont worry about that.
Overall if you like endless mindless repetative gameing but with a amazing graphical and awsome combat game and with a tight nit community that are pretty vibrent play this game.
My reasons for quitting this game were becuase of its repetativeness and it just got very boring but dont let that throw you of expereience the game if you want and see for yourself. Im also trying to be as no biast as i can be lol ^_^
I hope this has helped you :>
