First of all I would like to say hello to those I have met in the game, second of all I will go over a little bit what I liked and disliked about the game.
I have played this game for a little over 2 months, this game really reminds me alot of Tradewars back in the day of BBS's. If you were ever looking for an alternative for tradewars then this game is the game for you to a degree. I think the designers have a decent concept of what alot of people have in mind, however once you get your colonies in order, if you choose to take that route the game lacks other things to do besides invade others which if you have enough cash flow any planet regarless on how its defended can and will be taken. Being evil is way to easy to make cash, being a good guy is way to easy to just hide in a port and milk the exp of your colonies to win the game.
The easy fix for that is once you are over 100k exp or even 50k you shouldnt be able to hide in a starport. That way it would be alot easier for people to hunt down and even catch up to others by destroying them and their exp. If they wanna pay the UN fees then more power to them, but at least they are accessible if they arent paying the UN fees or even the starport fees, they are way too low and should be jacked up according to your exp.
I think a little more content would be good for the game, I think they should really do away with the experience on planets, a bigger solar system would be a good start, aliens that defend their sector or planets would be an interesting plot, I think since you have a pirate base you should also have sectors that are infested with pirates along with pirate planets that are well defended. as well as a good sector that people who decide to be evil can have some fun. The Player vs Player attack system is ok. But i can see how someone who likes to colonize and trade can get really frustrated spending so much time setting up some colonies only to get invaded once their un protection is up. I really think it should be harder to invade a planet then it actually is. I mean if someone is going to spend 1 million credits on turrets they should get 1 million credits worth of defense.
Ok now for some tips that people have passed on to me.
When you find a sector that you think is suitable for colonizing, I think Desert planets are the best overall planets besides a Paradise planet just because of the resources it can make as well as the spice it produces to upgrade your other planets. Mountainous are good with the atom smasher Artics are good with its special output, earth are good for populating your other colonies, volcanics are a must for your weapon factories, alot fo people neglect the research but if you want to keep your colonist happy and maximize your planets production Id suggest you read up on the research.
Always try to fill up your colonies with people ASAP, I always start with a refinery, then a biodome1 upgrade, and depending on the planet ill go for bio2 or specialization of the planet, its alot easier to defnd your planet without a starport in the sector, when they waste fuel to regen shields its more of a hassle on a well defended planet then not.
Lots of people place turrets on planet without a solar cannon, those are pretty much free turrets for an experienced player once they invade.
Anyways I did enjoy my playing experience for the last 2 months, once they implement more content I would probably play it again, I have donated to their cause and I hope they do keep up the great work that they have done so far.

I agree with a lot of what you said, especially about how it's too easy to invade a colony. I don't use a credit card, so I've spent a lot of time and millions of credits, only to have someone using a credit card takeover my highly defended colonies and then kill me in space while I'm logged out. This usually ends up destroying my whole corporation too. There really needs to be a way to prevent players using credit cards from completely destroying players who do not use credit cards.
Also, it seems really ridiculous that if you get shot down with a bounty on your head you will lose all of your experience. This is really frustrating and ruins the rest of the time on the server.
It IS a great way for getting money to the designers, but it needs to be balanced out somehow.
As for invading colonies, it allows people to get ships with shields up to 16000, neutrinos scanners for finding colonies, quick credits for nukes, quick credits for turrets, and even U.N. Commisions; all at the start of the game. You can't argue this. I got 5000 Admiral Points for writing a recommendation and I have invaded dozens of colonies so far, and it's incredibly easy, so easy that I think it's unfair.
Also, read my "Several Suggestions" topic in the Suggestions board for more reasons why I think it needs to be balanced out.
I wasnt aware you could buy scanners with admiral tokens. yes you can buy credits but it would cost you a hell of a lot of money to get enough for a scanner!
As for the ship, its not different to the other ship you can buy with normal credits. both have 16000 shields. the only thing i have ever used the credits for is the ship and the fuel. and when i die i dont buy the ship again. I like to give a little something to the writers for all the hard work put into the game.
First off, The reason it is so easy for pirates to make money and things like that, is because evil is always the easy path. And the reason positive rep people can just stay in a starport logged off is one of the greatest benefits for being good! If you took that away I dunno if i'd waste my time being good anymore, cause it's really the best thing for us good people since we can't steal and make the money that way to stay in un space or so.
Stealing for pirates and safety for good is called Balance of Power.
And with the planets, it takes an extremely experienced individual to invade a highly defended planet. You just need to learn to strategize, plan the defense, and get a sol cannon if it's worth defending.
Now for the problem with the bounties. You say you lose all your experience when you get killed with a bounty. This is true if you have a high amount of credits on your bounty. But the reason is because you did something wrong in the first place to even get a bounty started. People can't just decide to put a bounty on you, you have to do bad crap first then the police station puts a bounty on you and then it's available to other players. When you kill rob loot pillage whatever you take the RISK of getting a bounty and having people chase you all over the galaxy, and people with UN Commisions can buy intel reports on you to hunt you down.
Again, a balance of power.
Now for the INTERGALACTIC RELIC.
Yes with a credit card this ship is easily attainable.
But in my opinion the Imperial Starcruiser is an even better ship and I work every round very hard to get it, but it isn't that hard to get it. I actually kill two or three people every round i'm in and they have an IG ship, i feel sorry for them but they aren't that hard to kill honestly. I mean, yes credit cards are the easy way.. But unless you want this game to cost actually money just accept the fact that people can do that, 'cause without the admirals club this game wouldn't be so fun and FREE!
Yes i've donated before, and yes i've bought the IG ship one round, and yes it was a great learning experience. But I honestly haven't bought it since nor have i used a credit card since. But it's possible one day in the future i'll say "Hey, I really want some warp fuel cause i'm almost out so i'll go donate to the wonderful programmers" Cause yes, I recommend everyone donates at least once.
After all this i have a suggestion:
Admiral tokens should be stored Accountwide, and what i mean by this is that you can access your admiral tokens from any round(server) and be able to use them in any round.
I had personally thought that the game was actually quite well bablanced considering the number of players that usually go online.
No, the starports are just fine. It is just the amount you have to pay that annoys me - it's too little. All somebody has to do is hop around and find a starport with a 1000 credit per hour rate, and they can stay there for another 400 hours with their humble 400k credits.
I like the UN fee, can't the starport fee be based on something as well? like reputation and ship cost etc... Just an idea, but i do think the starport seriously gets on a least one person's nerves that i know of.
