Thats nice to hear, but some warning don't promise more then you can deliver and always, always be 100% honest with your player base if you know something will be left out or will fall short etc let them know don't put icing on it and say, it will be like that and this. Honesty and listening to your player base at a very early stage in development /testing is needed.

Well, if it is the emu people, it is smart of them to go ahead and build their own game rather than trying to get the old SWG running. They have the inspiration , apparently they have the talent, so...make your own world guys.
Somebody sometime is going to make a game that has what was lost with the classic SWG. If they can put together a viable and interesting game, I'm sure they can get funding.
Make EVERYTHING exactly as pre-cu with a diff. skin and i'll sign up for sure. Don't forget decay and ALL the crafting proffessions, thats what made pre-cu so great and unique. Don't forget harvesters and all the ressources, mineral and animal. (energy too)
Last thing: DON'T BRING IN ANTI-DECAY KITS !!! duh (who was the genius behind that one)
UG not only has an MMORPG focus, but a firm grasp on the core aspects and qualities of a true MMORPG. UG relishes the ideas and mechanics of some of the greater MMORPGs out there. UG remembers games like Ultima Online, Asheron's Call, and Star Wars Galaxies (Pre-CU). These are just a few examples of MMORPGs that don't fit the ever-growing "cookie cutter" mold of today's latest (and considered to be "greatest") MMOs, such as Lineage II and World of Warcraft.
An MMORPG really should allow the player to enjoy a sense of freedom and be able to decide how he or she wishes to play the game. We certainly recognize that many people enjoy different styles of play. Some people are explorers and scavengers, whereas others enjoy crafting items and then playing the business-end of things by marketing and selling their products. Of course, you can never forget those players who venture out into the depths of a virtual world to conquer any creatures and/or civilizations they may come across. Last but not least, there is also the realm of player-versus-player combat, in which players may enjoy defeating a challenging enemy, or losing to an underestimated player, whether friend or foe. Freedom of choice and the ability to have an impact on the game world as well as the game economy, are two very important aspects to UntiedGames, and such aspects will always have a key role in our games.
It's a respectable approach to development -- unfortunately for them, I doubt they have the funding required to complete their project to their scale. They're also using the MultiVerse engine which, while good, is essentially free. They won't be delivering a USA market competitive game as a result - whatever they produce just won't look "good" enough (for example, EQ2 is an all around mediocre game built on top of pretty graphics and has therefore "succeeded" in the US market).
They may still deliver a niche game, though. While I have no personal objections to that at all -- it means more specialized folks will be playing instead of the masses -- it will be a hard sell for the company.

this game appeals to me more and more each time i go over their site. i want the game to be EXACTLY like pre-cu SWG. it was the best, and with it gone this will be the best.
i wish the devs all the luck with the development of this game.
Favourite Game SWG - Sabanak, Retired Jedi, Bria
Playing: Nothing
Waiting for: SWG Pre-CU
Retired: SWG, CoX, Vanguard, MxO, Guildwars, Archlord, Auto Assault, EQ2, Final Fantasy XI, Lineage 2, Saga of Ryzom, DAOC, WoW, AOC, WAR
Yay This is clearly the game to follow. Finally a game that will replace SWG. Sandbox, skillsystem, decay, buffs, wounds and all of the old goodies that made SWG pre-CU the greatest game that ever was.

Wow, at least they made the effort to change teras kasi to martial artist and "droid" to cyborg. I realize everybody copies from everybody else but that's.....really blatant! : ' p
Alot of you are in for major dissapointment. SoE couldnt pull off a project that was overly ambitious but you think a few hobbyists can?
To a considerable degree, I think SOE did pull it off. But LA had veto power over all fixes and mods and even the most minor detail of the artwork, never mind the overall direction of the game. Over and over, we heard about fixes languishing on the shelf because LucasArts would not sign off on the change. ...Not to say that hobbyists can do as well, of course, just pointing out that SOE didn't do all that badly (before someone decided to radically change everything...)
gullible Alot of you are in for major dissapointment. SoE couldnt pull off a project that was overly ambitious but you think a few hobbyists can?
There are a lot of companies that could NOW pull it off. SOE was the first to try it (unless you consider a 2-D Ultima Online). It's always most difficult to build a prototype. I think they can do it, and using the Multiverse Engine, do it pretty quickly. They already have experience coding a similar system...

Two people made Runescape, about $65 million dollars a year.
And that is why...
Conservatives' pessimism is conducive to their happiness in three ways. First, they are rarely surprised -- they are right more often than not about the course of events. Second, when they are wrong they are happy to be so. Third, because pessimistic conservatives put not their faith in princes -- government -- they accept that happiness is a function of fending for oneself. They believe that happiness is an activity -- it is inseparable from the pursuit of happiness.
Idk if it would be as good as pre cu star wars even if they made it exactly the same, because half of the reason why I think people played SWG because it was about star wars and actually happened to have a good game behind it as well, unless you weren't a fan of Star Wars before you played the game..
Dammit and here I was about to dig up an old PRIMA official stragegy guide....
Honestly good for them, I hope it's a blatant copy of old SWG without the SW... That way no LA can come in and overide a patch or fix or update...
We want a game that had our old feel to it, and If I have to trade in my Mon Cal for a.. whatever the 2 races are so be it. Better that than live on in frustration about what was....
Medic who heals, amazing concept.
Entertainers who sooth the Battle fatigue.. uh sorry.. exhaustion.
I'm glad they are a team that had something to do with an EMU, that means they know the game I played, and what I miss. What will be funny is when this blatant rip off of a former SWG game, pulls in more subs than the current version of SWG.
Let the fanbois who defend the NGE explain how a no IP sci-fi MMO sand box style game is higher in subs than STAR WARS!!!!
Good luck ZO

Look at that. Names of developers are "Netrex" and "Whoiga" ... you ask why it matters ?

Seems like they are fed up with not having their old SWG back ( I am too ) and started to work on their own SWG ( named Zuroth Online, Lol )
Oh well we will see how well former forum administrators of a swg emu server do at programming a game ^^
Exactly the point of my last post. I'm just waiting for the inevitable "Oh shit!!! This MMOG business is no joke!" lol
Classic SWG > CUNGE
i will be optimistic about its development and wish them luck. So far it seems to be promising,

Sounds cool to me, but I think the future of MMOs is in the proper combination of sandbox and rpg.

As much as I'd love to play a PreCU game, I really don't want to be involved with a blatent PreCU rip off. WTF ever happened to originality?
Classic SWG > CUNGE
Heh, i was about to say well at least they didn't have ranger.....then I noticed it in the list. LOL.

as a former pikeman with a tattoo artist title i'm a little insulted at the profession list.
everyone "KNOWS" that creature handler was the least played profession and even THAT'S in there.
