Eve online 14 day trial - Newbie tips and tricks

Eve online is the longest i have ever played in a mmorpg , i have been playing the game ever since genesis beta and i can say at some times i have been very frustrated with the game . For all the new people trying out the 14 trial here are some tips about the game . Please keep this responses to whats missing and not a flame flest

1- Eve online is some what complicated to start off in , and the learning curve is extremely high . If you like to roleplaying , the choose of your race is very important in how you roleplay. Also choose your starting skills depending on wether you want to research . mine or fight .

2- Wen you start off you will be placed in your races starting system with a tutorial drone . Do the tutorial and once you are done , head off to an asteroid belt and mine some low end minerals with your newbie frigate . The first goal you should set yourself is to get a heavy frigate . Imicus if you like to mine or a rifter , merlin , punisher or tristan are all excelent mining craft and fighter frigates . To make quick money do level 2 agent missions of your respected races , with an imicus and cargo expanders and some micro warp drives you can easily run cargo missions all day and make 500k on your first week of play .

3- Find yourself a corp and imerse yourself in a corp and the eve community , Wen looking for a corp it is better if they are part of 0.0 space alliance . Curse Alliance , Stain Alliance , Pheonix Alliance and there are plenty more wich will allow you and your corp to get a free pass in 0.0 space and allow you to mine the good stuff

4-No mans land also known as 0.0 space is the most dangerous place in the world . Blockades , Epic 100 player battles and pirates are all in this space . But all of 0.0 space is claimed by alliances and is a very dangerous place to roam . This is why you and your corparation should join an alliance , this will give you acess to the riches of 0.0 space and will allow you to enjoy the true fun of eve .

5-Skills are very essential and wich ones you train could be importante on wich path you would rather start in . What is beatiful about eve is that there are no mistakes in skill training , so if you want to change your skills you can do it with no consequences. But it will take you lots of time to catch up to some of the other players who have been playing much longer then a person who has just begun.

I hope that this helps all you people trying the 14 day trial and that it will allow you to play eve and enjoy it . Many people play the game and dont like it beacuse they only do the very boring things and the very few things that this massive game offers . Hope this mini guide helps , if you have questions drop an eve mail ingame for akimo or give me a conv). Good luck!

Not all of the 14 day trial members will be looking into the game specific forum for help though , im just posting something small for people that are missinformed about the game or who want to try the 14 day trial and want an easier way to do it.

Im trying it right now and i think its pretty fun, so far ive hardly killed anything yet im still havig fun just explring, running missions and mining. Theres a great sense of achievement even early on, for example after doing my newbie quests and some mining ive already made about 150k in money, and have bought a new ship and a bunch of upgrades. Im having fun so far so i might consider prchasing it, you guys should give it a try if you havent already.

A valid thought, but these are good previews for outsiders (like me) who occasionally wonder about the game and don't care to wade through miles of posts (most of which are drek) to get a feel.

LOL I got the link to the trial from a friend but for some reason the trial cd key I got from here isn't being accepted any idea why? I made a post in the eve forum didn't think to check here for a post on it :D Hopefully I can get the trial to work it sounds like a fun game but I'd rather try it before I sink money into it.

edit: Scratch that tried again and it took the key yay

This is one of the main reasons why I didnt like Eve when I tried it a few months ago, I think they should have included it in game like EnB.. The other problem for me was the ship movement.. HATED IT>.. Anyways im in No Mans land agian when it comes to MMORPGS so I think I will give this game another shot.. Perhaps I need to be more opened minded this time. Hell I have to there is nothing else out there really to play.

You see, every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with their surrounding environment, but you humans do not. You spread to an area, and you multiply, and you multiply, until every natural resource is consumed. The only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet.-Mr.Smith

That's also one of the problems I had with the game as I posted my opinion here

It just seems very empty, fair enough i've only played for a few days so far but appart from a good community there's just nothing else to the game that I found interesting. And if all I wanted to do is chat all day then i'd just do it on IM or IRC :)

Let's hope that some expansions come out and make the whole thing a little more interesting.

If you have NVidia GeForce then you will want to downgrade your drivers to 53.03. There's a serious problem with mipmapping in Eve Online and the GPU on GeForce cards. I can't begin to imagine why this problem is allowed to exist considering the sheer numbers of GeForce cards in the marketplace, but downgrading to 53.03 solved the problem for me today (after spending hours trying everyting else...I am really irritated at having to downgrade my video card driver).

EVe wont or will ever have expansions that you pay for.

All of the updates are free and it will continue like that.  Eve is 1 world.  That wont change.  And they patch all the time and add new stuff.  Look at the Shive Features page the next "spansion" type update.  It adds alot to the game like owning outposts etc.

The best advice that I can give to a new person in the game is to explore at least 25 percent of your playing time.  When I say explore, I don't just mean explore space--- I also mean explore the market and player base.  I remember when I began playing a year or so ago, I made the mistake of staying in the same system, mining the same rocks.  Little did I know, there were significantly better resource deals a few systems away as well as better priced ships and equipment--- so get the hang of the market interface as soon as you can.  Checking the regional market of an area can lead you to much better centers of commerce.  For all you new people out there, systems of interest are: Pator, Yulai, Amarr, Tash-Murkon, New Caldari, Luminaire, and Nonni.  These systems are the hubs of the most populous regions in empire space.
