What about PvP?

SimonsaysSimonsays Member Posts: 64

Maybie its just me but I have seen almost no discussion about PvP servers.  Im assuming that there ARE going to be PvP servers, but I haven't seen and discussion on it. Did I miss the treads or has PvP just gotten old and nobody is interested in it anymore?

I personaly like to beat the hell out of other players once in awile, and it really brings a meaning to being  the best guild on server.

Well that completly sucks and i think will put a lot of people off buying it at first which could mean WoW could get and early lead

I think they are doing the PvP later so that people can learn how to play the game before they take on the complexity that comes with PvP dangers.  I plan on trying my hand at the PvP servers when they first open.  image

    /agree

I will start up on one of them when they go live.  I just wish I could find some info on the what the dynamics of PvP are going to be.  If they are going to be diffrent than EQI.

This is what totally turns me off from Everquest 2.  Lack of PvP.

Which is why I cant say EVerquest is my favorite MMORPG or that I would even subscribe or at least thinking about it.

WHats the deal if I wanted to kill AI I would play a single player game like the Ultima Series.  Oh wait we have a real person society in EQ...  please hardly worth it we should go play tale in the desert.

And this doesn't seem like a stupid idea to anyone? Lets retrace this. Servers go *live*. This is also known as, you pay for the game. Ok, someone pays. They play the game for 2-3 months and love it. Player vs. Player servers open... they like Player vs. Player. So basically they just wasted not only 2-3 months of money, but 2-3 months of time as well? Interesting idea there.

Only way to combat this = Character transfers... which are more of a hassle than most people think.

    Waiting for Guild Wars XD

No PVP = less worries about class balancing in the beginning and more thought into content, enhancements, and bugs. Its a smart move to wait on PVP. EQ is not a PVP game. You want PVP, go to DAoC and wait until PVP comes out in EQ. Then you will not have wasted 3 months of time and/or money . . .

EQ was always a PvE game with some PVP. Good PVP requires a lot more than just killing one another. Again, see DAoC for what PVP should be moving towards. Think about how much would go into that and how that would take away from the entire game which would cause the majority of players to not want to play.

I'll probably end up getting the game anyways... PVP is more important to me than stability or content (probably how I was able to stay with Shadowbane for so longimage).  I hope they include it at start and failing that as soon as possible.

well there is the limited PvP with the dueling and arenas, i rather they get cool solo content and get the gameplay balanced before they worry about implementing full PVP.

I dont really think EQ2 is a waste with out Pvp because PvP isnt really that big a deal compare to content. And besides you need to learn your character before hand anyways, Usually take a month or 2 to get good at it and to know the skills and spells there is. In UO (best pvp in my oppinion) I didnt really pvp untill a month or couple months later. Even in DAOC who ever decided to PvP when the game first came out (well beside me and a friend who wandered in Albion frontier and got killed by guards and we thought it was people just PKed us) I waited till I was about lvl 20  to go out there and hunt some people.  I get thrills for Pvping or even grief killing... just that i dont like to do it until i know what my characters can do.

I just hope that EQ2 pvp system will not be like EQ where it took 6 hours for a warrior-warrior duel to end.

    You just got Bootyknocked

*goes on WoW's PvP server and kills a mage*

sorry sorry, i just had to do that. i am sorry if that annoyed anyone, i just felt the sudden urge to since WoW already has PVP. that was in no way meant to offend EQ2 what so ever. despite me being a WoW fan, i can assure that EQ2 will have PvP implemented at some stage, it went the same with WoW, PvP was not heard of for ages until beta. like many of you have said, the SOE are probably focusing on content and other bigger issues. blizz did the same, so yeah, only time wil tell, but it will be in.
