what classes are group desirable and can solo in a pinch?

ValanceValance Member Posts: 189

I'm thinking of coming back to the game, and as I remember soloing was very slow to lvl up, but grouping made leveling very fast, not to mention the cool places you can only go in a group. So I'm wondering what classes make getting groups easy, and what classes are hard to find groups with. I heard bard is desireably, but can't solo well at all. I'm not looking for a solo powerhouse, just the possiblity of doing that when i feel like it or can't find a group. Thanks!

from my experience PVE servers whas Solo servers deluxe, could wait hours for a group, and it ended up in Boredom fest. PVP server on the outher hand is almost Group or die, so there its really easy to find a group.. but than again it depends on if you like raid or pvp though.

hm how are the pvp servers going? i recall hearing that they added pvp vendors where you can buy special goods for some type of pvp points/ranks. are those servers like a gank fest, or is it like a really good team v. team server? is it freeport v queynos or ffa? i'm not a raid guy - i like small group stuff.

its Freeport vs Qeynos vs Exiles. its not ffa & permadeath style pvp.. but it does have some nice adds to get the "pvp" more fun.. like Player Tressure drops, Money (60% of what the player has on them).. + Xp gain when killing & xp decay when killed.

yeah it can become a gank fest, atlest in the first tiers.. Tier2 (10-20) and tier 3 (20-30).

Every class can solo, but some are a little faster then others. What most people judge soloing ability on is the ability to kill heroic/named-heroic mobs. The best overall combination of group utility, soloing speed and soloing I’d look at a conjuror or a necromancer. Monks/Bruisers are also good but are not as desirable n groups.

Wizards/Warlock are desired for their DPS, and can kill some very impressive named heroics if speced properly, but that don’t solo that quickly and struggle until the higher levels when their roots improve.

If you are the type that likes to form you’re own groups I’d go with a healer. You can usually recruit a tank and some DPS to get started, but other then fury/warden of which there are a lot they don’t solo that well.

This is for PvE, I’m not up on the current recommendations for PvP.

Shadowknight is your perfect choice! I play one and I can solo things other people WISH they could do and I can pick up and tank any zone for a group. Great soloer, great grouper, both of the things your looking for. ANd also, its just so cool to be an evil shadowknight. Also at level 20 you can get a cheap spell that casts a black horse for you to ride. Of course its not the fastest mount in game but its great to use until you get higher and can buy a better one.

So SK isn't like a paly then? i heard paly is great for groups, but is infamous for being abysmally slow to solo level.

Hell no its not like a pally, SKs are the offensive crusaders. They use spells with lifetap components to heal. Pallies actually use healing spells to heal so they have to stop DPSing to heal. The more DPS an SK does the more he heals with Reavers Mania and all of our lifetaps and our healing/damage ward. The pallies Ive seen cant compare to my soloing ability or dps output.

Its easy for an SK to solo heroic zones with the right AA Spec (reavers mania is a must, spell crits are a must), I do it all of the time.

I have a 60 inquisitor and there awesome in groups and solo, and in fact they raise the dps of the group with there buffs and if specced correctly can out dps any healer or tank including a fury.

Sweet thanks for all the posts guys. I started an SK tonight, he's pretty fun so far with the whole dark theme. Gonna get him to lvl 10 soon so I can check out his AAs.

What exactly is "DPS"? Is that damage per second or something else? Never really heard of it before.

Yeah DPS is damage per second. you hear it a TON in mmos. It's what most players go after, and it can be quite fun pumping out the dps.

Total gankfest.  However, if you have a few people you can roll with it's a lot of fun :)
