When I first started getting interested and later absorbed completely by the world of Fantasy... it was simple and it was fun. My first love in the genre was as many I believe, Ansalon and the world of Dragonlance. D&D with characters sheets and dice, whether we were off on a new adventure with low level characters it didn't matter. It was fun, more fun then I've had with any MMO to date.
I don't expect everyone to understand this, people that got into these games and consider themselves "into" fantasy through video games, but these games are missing everything that made these "adventures" fun.
Is there any MMOs out there that actually are Roleyplay based?
I know there are some good roleplaying communities within some games, but the games themselves are still typical MMOs.. grind grind grind, quest quest quest... Just never gotten the feel from any game that I used to get with out good old D&D adventures. Although there were a couple MUDDs that had very good communities and RPing was definetly a primary focus.
Graphics are nice but not a huge thing with me, I've played almost every fantasy MMO to date thats available in an English version both p2p and f2p... and several I even went through the end game grind... but nothing compares to the good old days...
Are those times lost forever?
I would really love a game with a world I felt a part of... where anything was possible....

I have played Gemstone for over 12 years now and never grown tired of the constantly evolving world. Text based, it is one of the richest environments I have traveled. Ultima Online. Google the Free Shard "UOGamers: Hybrid". It's a Sand Box MMORPG, which means that there are no levels, just the way you play your character dictates your fun.
Does look like an amazing MUDD, but unfortunetly if I return to text base im headed to Ansalon Online, God I wish they would make a Dragonlance MMORPG
This game does look great though, Im starting to think its back to MUDDs for me.
Does anyone know if theres any sort of D&D based game... played old school in real time over the net.. with rolls and such being done through a program? All I have found are forum type communities, or through email
Looking into this atm... what type of interface does this game use? haven't been able to find any screens.
