Legends of Norrath, the Trading Card Game was announced by Smed (John Smedley) in his FanFaire address on Friday, August 3rd. To be launched September 4th, it is designed by SoE's Denver Studios (of Pirates the Constructible Online TCG and Stargate Online TCG fame) in collaboration with both the EQ and EQ2 team. The first set, titled Oathbound will consist of over 375 digital cards, with a 55 card starter pack and 15 card boosters available.
This game can be played by both EQ and EQ2 players, against each other if they choose, and a stand-alone client is also available if you don't have an account or don't want to log into game. The game is integrated into the EQ and EQ2 User Interface and players will not have to worry about Alt-Tabbing into and out of the game. Similar to building decks, players will build Avatars, choosing between Warrior, Priest, Mage & Scout archetypes and blending them if they choose.

interesting somehow. if you are into trading cards. otherwise i suspect it is simply yet another form of time-sink. and instead of hunting gear, you hunt cards.....
we will see.
it sounds alot like the card game from final fantasy 8. anyways....it beats WoW TCG
Just one more sign SOE wants to duplicate everything Blizzard does because Blizzard can make money with everything they do. Poor poor Sony, they'll never understand how to run a company...
I am:
Aserhe - Twi'lek - Scylla Galaxy (swg) [canceled]
Exar - Dark Elf - Lucan D'lere (eq2) [canceled]
Narlash - Night Elf - Emerald Dream (wow) [Active]
Well, that is completely wrong. Blizzard's card game is not online, they are tangible cards. The thing that they are copying is Stargate Online Trading card game, since the gameplay is exactly the same. If you take a look at http://stargateonlinetcg.station.sony.com/ then take a look at http://legendsofnorrath.station.sony.com/ you will notice a lot of similarities.
I find this idea of cross-promotion fantastic.
Another on the hate SOE bandwagon, its really getting trite guys. SWG was a long time ago and if you still dont know, LUCAS ARTS was in CONTROL and was dissapointed with sales so they had SOE do the NGE. Stop blaming SOE for everything, every company is out to make money. By the way, since your so knowledge in running companies whats the name of your profitable online entertainment company? Please tell us so we can consider you more then just an arm chair exec.
Hmm...
I'm not much of a TCG fan and never really got into any of them, because I've always felt that it's just a way to rip off people, who are trying to get that one rare card they need for their deck. However, the way they're planning to tie it into EQ/EQ2 sounds like it could actually be fun for a change!
I'm a big ol' fluffy carewolf. Be afraid. Be very afraid.
Hey wasn't the Everquest RTS named legends of Norrath or something like that. Oh and this looks like a cool little idea. I always like it when an MMO offers mini games and other side activities.
Yes there was. For a complete list of Everquest games and items click HERE
Yeah that whole Everquest MMORPG was just a WoW clone. Good thing Blizzard basically started the 3D MMO for us.

was just curious twohededboy if that was sarcasm , wasnt sure , because i didnt think or know that blizzard started 3-d mmo's, as i was playing earth and beyond 3-d mmorpg before i even heard of wow mmo.
playing eq2 and two worlds
I'm going to guess that was sarcasm.

In the article itself it says how sony owns that company so it wouldn't be far off.

Curt teh Juggler: our graduation ceremony was today, and right when some gamer nerd got his diploma, someone in the audience played the zelda "get item" music and he did the zelda spin-hold-out-item stance
Curt teh Juggler: it was quite possibly the most amazing thing ever.

Sorry, that was sarcasm.
Sounds like a pretty cool idea to me, especially since i love MtG, heh
actually it was called "Lords of Everquest."
B.net kiddies are so hypocritical. Shall I list everything Blizzard has ripped off from EQ?
Asinine comments aside. The major difference between LoN and The WoWzor TCG is LoN is actually fun to play, you can play in game, and there trash loot cards put WoW's "Epic "loot cards to shame. I call that beating Blizzard at it's own game.
Now make your whine about Nine Million players....Hee Haw had about the same number of viewers.......didn't make the show must see T.V. did it?
SOE have used the Stargate Trading game as the model for this, which they also own and publish. So the only thing they are ripping off is themselves.
And Blizzards Trading Card Game was actually ripped off from EvE Online, who were the first MMO to introduce a real card game, which in turn was ripped off from Magic the Gathering, which was in turn was ripped off from.. well you get the idea.
As for everything else SOE has ripped off from WoW and Blizzard, you are aware I presume that World of Warcraft is a cross between Warcraft the RTS and Everquest? And Warcraft the RTS was a sequel to Orcs vs Humans, which was a ripoff / copy of Dune 2, which was one of the first RTS games (and was out shortly before Orcs v Humans). And the idea of the Orcs v Humans game is widely thought to be a copy of Warhammer, which is / was originally a table top wargame, with models that look / looked suspiously similar to the 3d models Blizzard later "thought of" for their games.
(But then of course Dune 2 took the idea from Herzog Zwei anyway...)
So, to sum up, almost everything Blizzard has done has been ripped from a number of other companies, and they have very little original material of their own.
