Is this guy unprofessional or what? His new interview is not only embarrassing for him, but EA Mythic.

I am very sorry you feel that way, if I am not mistaken he is talking about a video game, not a new plan for a railway system, but something you are supposed to have fun in. Would you rather watch a video with a quirky little british guy jumping around, and giving you information, or a guy giving you information monotonely? I would rather watch Paul, he disperses information in a humorous, and intelligent way.
Though we have heard of stupid haste in war, cleverness has never been seen associated with long delays.

The man is a marketing dream!...any company would give their left nugget for a person like this. Paul has something you can't teach!
The fucker could sell gloves to a man with no arms!
Actually I think he's one of the shining stars in the MMO genre. It's nice to have someone who seems generally excited about the game they're making. The fact that he gets so animated draws attention to what he's saying and certainly gets attention on the game.

he is more than a man he is a legend... alright now to some more hard evidence that he is great

I wouldnt consider him embarrasing.
But depending on your personality, he can be annoying or a little too extravagant. I for one, am a lot more mellow of a speaker so i agree that he can be a little over the top.
Personally, i would like to see him tone it down a little or if not, mix up the pod casts with someone else such that i can get a more happy average of personalities providing me information about the game.
Totally agree, yeah so he uses the same jokes in almost every interview, im sure because of him theres a handfull of people who would otherwise not be intrested in WAR.
after playing DAoC this game would have to be head and shoulders above AoC before Id pay Mythic a dime. Joker devs or not.
When I said i had "time", i meant virtual time, i got no RL "time" for you.
Are you kidding me? Paul is the type of guy every company dreams of having to promote their product. He's absolutely brilliant and is part of the reason as to why I am so hyped for this game.
Paul Barnett = ROCKSTAR!

While he is great at promoting, a promoter shouldn't exactly be part of a reason to play the game. He could promote his ass off but if the game doesn't deliver it shouldn't be played. That being said you all know I am looking forward to WAR , I just wanted to chime in on that one tid bit of information he posted.
He makes the podcasts worth watching

I was focused more on his odd behavior and immaturity. It's a game, I know. However, when your having an interview, don't act like your an eleven year old kid. I guess the people we hang around are different.

I only said he's "part" of the reason, not the entire reason. Come on you have to admit, when your watching those podcasts don't you get all excited when Paul comes on the screen and starts talking about smashing things and burning stuff? Gets me pumped. Everytime he presents he's so full of energy and that says alot coming from a dev. My favourite so far was in the quest podcast, when he talks about killing bears. I got a good laugh out of that.

Ok maybe he does act a bit immature, but atleast it's in a good and humerous way...

No, I agree with you, I love the guys fire. I just misinterpret your post. For that I must say sorry.

I don't know which interview you are talking about, but I don't think he ever acts like an eleven year old kid. Or particularly oddly. I love his constant WW2 references, even in the middle of Germany...especially in the middle of Germany.
He acts like an excentric Brit. Being a rather excentric Brit myself, I like his style. He also has some of the best ideas and attitudes in gaming history...which yknow, helps his case a little.
OP:
Pff if you dont know them you dont understand them. Paul and Jeff are the most brilliant and great developers a game has ever had. They are not stiff people nobody knows of that simply develop a game as a living, theese guys are enthusiastic and focused people that are one with the fan-base.
ALOT of people knows who Paul and Jeff are, and look at all other games, does people know the people behind the game? Mostly no. That's because they aren't showing themselves or enjoying their jobs 1% as much as Paul and Jeff does.
Say anything you want about them, they will remain gods to millions of millions of people!

And I don't want to hear anything about "I don't believe in vampires" because *I* don't believe in vampires, but I believe in my own two eyes, and what *I* saw is ******* vampires! "
How many DEVs do you know are signing Autographs or asked to stand in a photo with a fan? I can think of only one person...Paul Barnett
He is great I agree but I can think of another by the name of Brad McQuaid. We know how that turned out though and I believe it is safe to say that Paul Barnett will definitely not share the same fate as him!
Honestly if you think being "professional" is your classical, talk show style, interview, then to hell with it.
No no, nothing wrong with those, having this guy telling you all the various things in the game and usually looking a bit like he actually care, they are informative and that is what they are supposed to do, but they do not sell the product, the product sell the product.
You will never buy game x cause developer x, with his a bit monotonous voice, told you that game has this this and that, you will buy the game cause it HAS this, this or that.
Not with Paul. i'm pretty certain some people at least got interested in WAR by looking him that didn't gave a crap about the game before.
another fresh idea from him is that he is NOT politically correct. He does not like High Elves and he adores Dark Elves and he clearly let you know about it.
He is clearly dedicated to the game and I'm sure he is one of the most avid gamer of it at the moment (his name was on several previous game workshop's titles as playtester and other roles of course, but also play tester)
Beside.. he knws about warhammer there more than all others people at Mythic combined, so i'm pretty sure he will do great
"If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day, if you teach him how to fish, you feed him for a lifetime"
Paul does kind of get on my nerves, he rambles a lot, and uses the same phrases over and over. Id much rather listen to Jeff hes really straight to the point about all the information he talks about and explains into detail what hes talking about so the layman can understand, while Paul would go into some random vague description thats usually not all that correct, and probably contains some sort of racial reference.
Yes, but you could get Paul completely smashed drunk, keep him awake for three days straight and stand him on his head and his most incoherent ramblings would still make more sense than McQuaid's tedious, long-winded speeches.
I can understand how some people might not like Paul's style. It's like Firefly or Monty Python. Not everyone likes them, but the fans who get it really enjoy what they offer. Personally, I think Paul has made following the game during the development incredibly entertaining.
But it is difficult for people who are interested in WAR but not in Paul to get info on WAR. If you want to follow WAR, there's no avoiding him.
paul is a nice change of pace from the normal interview were the guys just give the facts and dont really look like their gething into it as mucha s paul. he does great work IMO.
I enjoy Paul's style most of the time. I loved his Quests podcast.
so...
Paul is a God. You can really tell how much he enjoys taking part in the development of this game, and his excitement just catches you up in it, along with all the information they continue to unveil EVERY month!
