Who is currently playing Vanguard (or plan to give it a try after the merges)
What do you think so far?
Keep it positive, we already have enough hate threads. I'm just curious about what the current player base thinks.

When the trial comes out I'm going to give it a try.
Playing, been playing since day 1, my system runs it smooth, I got a nice guild, I'm having fun, waiting for merge, nice with some more PvP.
I think it's one of the most underestimated games in a long while.
If it do not die I will continue to play as long as it is fun for me.
Peace out!
Playing VG.
In a great RP guild and am enjoying it quite a bit actually.
I'm playing but currently only like once a week since it's so hard to find a group. After the merge I'm prolly going to play more because I like the game itself.
I decided to give it another shot about 1 month ago and I`m still playing. I`m actually enjoying the game this time around. I plan on playing fairly regularly till the next EQ2 expansion in November.
Very very casual, but I'm there.
Not putting much time in it, I can't give you much insight into its current state other then saying I find it enjoyable the way I play it.
My wife and I have been playing since the beginning. We have enjoyed it because we play together and we're in a good guild. We recognize the problems with the early release, and stuck with the game when many were leaving and the server pop was dropping. Well I'm happy to say that the game is improving, I'm starting to notice more people playing and the server merge should get the populations up to respectable level. The game is certainly headed in the right direction.
I've been looking for an MMO that sucked me in like EQ did back in the day, have yet to find one until I tried Vanguard. It's been a while since I've liked an MMO so much that I wanted to play it all the time. The environment is great, the diplomacy system is something I've never seen before, I love the classes. I have a pretty decent system, averaging between 50 - 90 fps in areas with graphics nearing the higher settings.
Can't wait for the server merges and seeing the world alive with players. If you're on the fence about giving this a try, check out the free trial when it becomes available.
I just got back in, and am wishing I didn’t. I played at the end of beta and a few months after. True the game has improved but it is still empty, I don’t know what the point to anything I do is. I’m hoping Tuesdays merger will bring more grouping.
I still say keep away from this one.
I came back last week. I think the perfomance is much better. I only pause for a 1/2 second when crossing chunk lines. I have not ahd any CTD.
I had to buy new equipment as a result of the Equipment Expertise being changed to level expertise.
The population on Thuderaxe was active in Southwatch. I have not really been exploring much more. I wont try to kid you though, the population is down based on region chat.
I think the server merge is going to be a very posative step for the game. They had too many servers at launch. The game is much better when played in a group.
Is the game worth coming back too? I was a fanboi, I loved the game, I never really stopped loving the game. I was also a SWG refugee and was way to leary of SOE to stay back in May. I am happy to be back. I am hoping that by the end of the year with raid content, trial suscriptions/trial island, perhaps an expansion and a re-release I will be able to be proud to say I play the game... until then I guess I would not recommend coming back if you hated it before.
I was a fanboy for about 3 months but quit (still subscribed due to buying a 6 month pass) due to lack of population and having a dagger hanging over the game and I need to know that the grinding I am doing is going to be worth it.
However I will go back after the merge as I hope there will be players to team up with and kill. The last two weeks I played on Varking I literally ran around for hours trying to find an enemy to kill. That is just bizzare...
I did log on a week or so ago. The new LFG feature looks excellent and since my rig is pretty decent I never had any performance issues really so if the population turns up I will get back into it.
At the very least SOE seem to be serious about making it work. Good on em for that.
Where is VG heading ? I mean no one in their right mind will come back to an empty game that had so many problems...<sigh>
It was really fun while it lasted
I think that's pretty clear. They are merging servers to help players find folks to interact with, adding a trial island for new players to learn the ropes and patching regularly to stabilize the game. New content to follow from what I hear.....

Vent and TS kills chat. Whole guilds are on vent/TS. I dont like that modern stuff, but thats how it ist. Actually the some T5 mobs are highly contested and groups rival for them.
But i am posting, because i am still playing.
I play on the Florendyl server (will be merged to the Serdon server after tomorrow) as Loothur VonRichten. I came back to the game a short while back, and I have honestly been loving every minute of it.
Look me up in game anytime. You can catch me online as Loothur from about 6pm to 12am Central Standard Time (USA) any given night of the week.
One word of advise to anybody looking to come back to Vanguard or try Vanguard for the first time, spend a week in game making friends and testing out various classes before deciding on one to play. The importance in making friends in game for a week is because if you can put together at least 4 people that you can rely on grouping with on a daily basis, it will make your Vanguard experience 10x more fun since it is a very group-based game. Pick up groups are hard to come by and usually end in flustration.
Right now, I am part of a regular group that plays almost nightly consisting of: Dreadknight, Cleric, Bard, and 2 Rangers. We pick up a 6th person each night usually and go hit a dungeon.
So, spend the time to make some friends and choose a class you will enjoy. It's a huge game world with tons to do.

I just resubbed 5 or 6 seconds ago... This merge will give really good reviews, and a lot less hate topics ! (YES!).. Unless, there is a huge data leak and everyone loses their characters ... but that wont happen.
Good job SOE!
My husband and i have been playing VG since Feburary.I can say ( and i'm not a huge SoE fan),that since SoE has taken over the game has improved much.We used to ctd at least once, sometimes 2 and 3 times an hour, now it's maybe every 4 hours. We have most no lag, altho in crowded cities there is somewhat but not awful .We do not have end all beat all computers but they are decent.A lot of quests have been fixed that i have personally seen.
We played Eq(among many other mmorpgs) and the lding or ctds aint nothin specific to this game,id ld in Eq1 all the time.
There are still some buggy things but over all it's commin along nicely=).
What server do you play on?
I've been playing more in the last two days than I have in the last two months. I play on Xeth as a lvl 18 rogue and I've constantly been able to find full (6) groups since the merge. The general chat on qualia is bustling with activity (Sometimes good sometimes bad ). If this population level keeps up I will definitely continue my subscription and play on a daily basis.
we play on Woefeather which is now Xeth=).
This is great advice, VG is very group-centric. Regular groups are so much fun and you'll advance much quicker to boot
Playing VG since beta, gave it up for a month due to issues with CTD and my graphics card.
Happily playing again and enjoying it.
Hit 50th and still plenty to do, looking forward to the raid content.
Guild is a nats whisker from getting a Guild Plot, its all good.
I just hope some of the features expressed before the SOE buyout will be implemented or finished as Sigil intended.
Now playing: VG (after a long break from MMORPGS)
Played for more than a month: Darkfall online, Vanguard SOH, Everquest, Horizons, WoW, SWG, Everquest II, Eve
This is great advice, VG is very group-centric. Regular groups are so much fun and you'll advance much quicker to boot
perhaps a lot of current and returning players from here could choose a server and create a guild purely for alts,at least anyone who chooses to retry it could have somewhere to call home, and have the possibility of actually getting a group. It would also give people a break from their main(s).
