Well today there will be the new update for Final Fantasy http://www.playonline.com/pcd/topics/ff11eu/detail/2213/detail.html that will feature an improvement on two handed weapons and a few modifications on some of the jobs.
Specifically Corsair, Beastmaster and puppetmaster will receive an update. Well I am curious to see how the additions on 2h weapons will be. Maybe it will be time for me to skill it up for my paladin once more
As for Corsair I heard their buffs will get a major boost and you'll really want to get that lucky 11 to get the max buff out of it
Beastmaster I won't comment.....much Is it my idea or they just will make them even better soloers than they already are?
Lastly puppetmasters is one of those jobs that can use whatever help it can get Oh well, it's good though the whole update although I am a bit sceptical about the 2h thing. The 2h update it was supposed to be so that players won't rely all the time to the ninja sub and use dual wield for maximising damage. But the update just features a speed increase of about 5% or so by introducting a new kind of items plus 2h weapons will deal more damage to high defense targets. I hope they can make it work it though since it would be cool to have more options other than the standard warrior/ninja with dual axes.

If people weren't such elitists, you could already be playing as a Warrior/Non-ninja. BUt no, People have to be asses and won't party with you unless you're something elite. Don't get me wrong, I definitely see the advantage to being a War/Nin but the whole point of the game is to be what YOU want to be, not what everybody else does.
A good example of this is once when I was lvling my Ranger. I just wanted a small party to finish getting to 20 and I didn't want to fight in the dunes. So I went to Bubu instead and found a War/Whm who nobody wanted to play with (besides his friend who I can not remember what job he was...some kind of DD though). So the three of us partied and fought Dahmals (sp?) and kicked ass. I recognised that he was a War/Whm because he was practicing for when he could get his Paladin job unlocked. Now while his attack and HP may not have been as high as if he had had a Thief or Monk sub, he still did good enough that he was able to tank and keep us alive and I applaude his efforts at being something he wanted to be and not the norm.
That was the only time I ever saw anybody do a War/Whm. I wish there had been more people like that when I played. It made the game more exciting imo. It was something different and unexplored.
More so then the UI, FFXI's min / max'ing killed the gaming experience for many many people.

Well truth to be told War/Whm has a bad stigma since it was considered that the "lazy" people play it. Although fortunately I haven't encounter cases of elitism at low-mid levels when I level as a War/Pld or a War/Thf since most people just want a hefty meat shield.
The only real cases I have met are those times that people ask me why I don't have my AF chest for paladin, and they get the same response each time, "Will you get me the 4X75 level players it needs to be done also?".
In either case those are small changes but I am sure SE moves in a good direction^^ I really want to see the 2h weapon classes be viable. And War is one of those classes that with all those weapon skills, it would be the ideal all around melee job. And let me tell you great axe does excellent damage but with the lack of good ones to compete at 50+ level all warriors then go dual.

The real problem is some SJ doesn't do anything for the main job.
war/whm does not hold aggro like a paladin, because you will never see cure II until level 22, cure I does not help aggro holding once whm get cure II.
You are also losing stats over to /whm as DD, not to mention Skills are capped, hence your heals are weak. say a level 15 war/whm couldn't get a cure 1 up to 30, he might be able to get up to 20 only.
while war/nin is not the only way to go, i saw war/thf up to 50s before, using 2hander but their DD output is not great because they don't have SATA until 60. While same with mnks, where the boost doesn't help as much as lower level does.
As your job get higher SJ ability will be more useless because of the level caps.
It might be interesting to see a party that does war/whm @ 60, but would you be better off getting a paladin who will have +3mp refresh alone with more powerful spell and large mana pool then war/whm ? Especially you could have other classes /whm to do cure aligment.
none
Thing is also that (at least on my server) there is a real shortage of Tanks. So although War/Thf can and will do good damage at medium levels, at those levels usually they'll want a war to tank. And although one can get away with /pld till 37 since you have one extra hate tool after that it becomes obsolete and to tank you'll have to /nin just to do enough dmg to tank. Add to the fact that 2h weapons especially gaxe need a good warrior to work after 50 and you'll see why there is such need for such things. And at 60+ things become worse since it's getting tough to find pld's or Nin to tank and warriors because they turned to dd's they refuse to.
It's actually the main reason I like that they buffed those classes till they add new tanking ones, because low to mid levels it has become real hard to find a tank so you'll need every help you can get. that's my opinion though.
I am curious to see how this update will go^^
So far at the forums I checked the corsairs complained because they fear their job will become "popular" because of the patch and i am curious to see how it will go

My wife and I were exping off of Lesser Colibri, I'm RDM and she's DRG, both 62. We've been duoing since 60. Anyway, with this new update to 2 handed weapons, she just destroys all of the birds outside of Aht Urghan. She already did a good job because of the pierce bonus, but she does crazy Penta Thrust damage now. She doesn't even miss either. Especially with the 1 DEX= 1 Accuracy now for 2 handers. This has been a fantastic update for the 2 handed melees.

I'm also happy to see married couples enjoying FFXI together. My wife and I played together and had a blast. She was a Sam and I was a Rng. We did crazy damage together and chained our TP all the time. It's easy to get the timing right when all you have to do is yell across the room that you are getting ready to start your weapon skill. hehe ^^
yeah and if any of you gets killed by mistake of the other then it's a short walk to slap them silly or get them chocolates to ease their fury ( I do admit that chocolate relaxes me when I tank)
