To bad everything I've read states your organism will progress onto land... I want to create an underwater civilization. Still looks like it will be cool.
In the extremely lengthy and detailed presentation video (i think i found it on google awhile ago) he specifically stated you can create underwater civilizations. They develop a "bubble" around the city just like moon colonies do when you colonize a moon/planet with no atmosphere.
Last I heard you begin in single-player. But you should be able to meet other "evolutions" or something like that. I think they also said something in one video or other that they would be player controlled.... not really sure tough.
This game gets delayed every time, it suprises me if it will be released somewhere near spring 2008. But I can't wait untill it comes out, it's a pretty unique game, so worth trying.

YES, i saw that too, you can create underwater civilizations he said, im not sure what, I think he said like an air bubble city, so i dont know if u can make like a city in "water" with sea creatures as your main guys,
Also im wondering what would happen is somone made "THE SUPER CREATURE" that could kill anything, just a thought. Somone would probably make somthing that could kill it too.

I hope you can make underwater civilizations, but everything ive seen shows that most likely you cant.
About your "Super Creature", that would be annoying before you developed a civilization, but no animal can defeat a space ship or even a good tank.
June 17 the Spore demo will become available. The Creature Creator comes in two flavors: free, with about 25% of the creation tools, and for $9.99, with 100% of the creation tools. The demo will be available from the Spore Web site on the same day. All creatures created in June can be imported into the full product when it hits in September, so that gives you a good three months to harness your creatures into perfect little abominations. ref

The only down side so far is that every phase up to the space phase is extremely short. You will be trough each phase in less than 30 minutes.
The space phase will take considerably longer.
I would have preferred the creature/tribe/civ phase to be much longer, since most of the creativity in designing creatures, building and vehicles is much more visible there than in the space phase.
Anyone having issues with the transition from one stage to another? My computer freezes sort of in a continuos loading screen. made it thorugh onece but than when i went to the next stage it happneed all over again.
From what i was able to play it was very fun. Too bad I cant play till they release a patch!

Quit releasing UNFINISHED GAMES!!!!!!!!
No, I am able to go from one stage to another okay.
It is kinda fun, in that "The Sims" kinda way. Not as in depth as a strategy game, but more along the lines of light entertainment. Overall, it can keep players amused for a bit.
Has a difficulty setting also, so you can make it more challenging. The WOW level is the tutorial.
Well I'm done with my first night with Spore Feels like I just got a taste of the perfect pie and I want more. I don't actually know when I got to bed. Some time around 2am. In anycase I LOVED IT! Progressing my cell from microbe, microbe to fish and so on until I end up with this amazing Parrot Raptor was such a rush.. Unfortunately I had two planets named almost the same and deleted it A shame since my homeworld had a moon! BAH!
Cell Stage: Surprisingly fun. I enjoyed the tactics I could come up with and the hunting. I actually lured prey in which I promptly turned around and stuck there mouth full of spikes. Lasted about 2 hours and managed to finish without dying.
Creature- The world I was on was beautiful! A vast desert world with the remanents of a dead sea. Small lakes studding the land. Made for some very interesting ecologies since animals nests seemed to stick near the rock outcroppings. Funnies thing I saw was these insectile creatures jumping on top of each other and dancing.. I think it was a fluke..6 hours play
Tribal- Enjoyed it totally! My species had the fortune of having there camp near one of the seas on my world with a beautiful outcropping behind it. Very defensable. I enjoyed seeing my little culture dance, since, and defend there lands. My species is quite blessed because it can gain most of its food fishing safely. Managed to domesticate a giant roach. Im not sure but my world seems all bugs and birds... Lost track of time
Civilization- I havent gotten far in this stage yet. So far I've spent all my time making sky scrappers. Due to the lack of life on this world I had them design green glass skyscrappers. The city looks like a field of trees
Cant wait to see whats next! Oh the storys! Oh the things Ive seen!
Comments
its about time, ive been waiting for this game for a very long time to come out

Hopefully we don't have to wait to long for the beta....
Is this going to be an MMO or just be multiplayer?

Player created creatures will be able to be shared/imported in other player's worlds... or something like that. So I heard. From somewhere.

Well didn't will wright say in an interview in germany that the game is done, they are just doing polishing and bug editing now?

I am so going to be addicted to this game for months. From what I've read and watched it has everything in a game I've ever loved and more.
Go to youtube and look for a spore demo with robin williams, he's funny as hell.
Want a taste of religion? Lick a witch.
Update since it is released now.
