Sometimes you just need to get it out....
In 2002 I started playing DAoC, my very first MMORPG, it was a blast. I joined Fury on server Kay, which was one of the most known guilds in DAoC back then. I loved the PvP/RvR there and the PvE was just something you had to get over with to reach lvl cap. When GM was given the WoW US Beta keys by Blizz, we where quite a lot who started playing WoW and found it new and interesting. When the retail version hit the marked we bought it straight away and has been playing ever since. Now the thing is that PvE in WoW is good but for me it gets booring and the PvP just plain sucks, compared to DAoC PvP. I kinda miss DAoC, but I wont return to it, due to fact that I'm affraid it will disapoint me today.
So I have within the last 3-4 month been searching for an alternative and when I stumbled across Darkfall I was instantly cought by its ideas of being able to do (almost) anything you like, building cities, fighting clans, crafting etc. but the more I visit their forum the more I loose hope of it ever comming out, and not to mention that I recently heard that their fonds are running out
One of my WoW / RL friends told me about Warhammer Online and said this would be the new game to play, but to me it seems a bit like a WoW clone, maybe with a bit more PvP??? I dont know...
So with all this you-dont-really-care-but-you-read-it-anyways-information my question to you all is, what is the game to play if WoW is out of the question?

WoW itself is an amalgamation of MMO elements which preceded it, and which are not likely to change due to its massive success. If you're really sick of the gameplay of WoW, rather than just the gameworld, then you might just be sick of the MMORPG in general.
The new game to play is game you like most.
But hell yeah, if you lked RvR wait for War. Is your best bet on this style of gameplay.
I have made thoughts on that too, but if I use the rule out method, then I'm still kinda left with MMO games. I played way to much CS before I started MMO, but when they introduced 1.5 or was it 1.6 (dont remember) and changed so many things, then it got ruined (after my opinion). RTS games gets trivial and booring after a short time, so thats no longtime solution either. just to mention a few different types of games.
What I really love about MMO is the social side and the endless possibilites, there are always something to do in a MMO game, but when you have farmed the same instances so many times that you can do them in your sleep and you have lost endless of times in BGs because your faction suck at random pvp, then you just start wondering if there is not something else out there, that might bring back the excitement of MMO, that once where.
Again Darkfall was really something I was looking forward too. The whole idea of not having to level your char as in e.g. WoW was really something that cought me. I have tried other MMO games like EVE, SWG, LOTRO, but none of them lasted long. Well EVE was due to Beta back when I tried it, SWG talks for it self and LOTRO had potensial but got really booring really fast.
I read a bit about the upcomming game called Fury, which from what I can read is a PvP oriented game, but when I visit the forum it again seems like people end up grinding, which does not really seem like PvP to me ^^. Not that I only want to PvP, but I love a good game of PvP like back in the DAoC days when you would gather 100 people and start taking back the keeps that the Hibbies or Albies had taken, or hiding in the gigants foot to make a surprise attack, damn that was fun.
If the last time you tried eve was when itwas beta then you should know that has changed a great deal since then and at the end of this year [november i think] the graphics are getting upgraded to modern levels.
