Bah the game isn't a shooter at all already (first or third person, whichever), It certainly doesn't feel exciting like Call of Duty
Call of Do
Yeah, its a FPS Style, not fully but you aren't going to get any closer to a FPS in a MMO unless you play Planetside. Ofcourse it's not going to be Call of Doody, because of obvious reasons at this point and time.
i'm sorry but this game is practically the same as every other game in terms of gameplay apart from the fact you have a gun. the fact that runing around does nothing and everyone seams to have heat seeking weapons i can't really say it's first person. In fact the gameplay is practically like the SWG NGE, well that's the impression i got from when i played it!!! nice gpx though haha
It is a THIRD PERSON ACTION RPG SHOOTER get the term FPS out of your head. Thats about all I can say due to NDA.
So that means manual aiming, correct?
I'm not interested in a game where my reflexes or ability to swing my mouse around are that important. I'd rather my tactical prowess and strategy skills (or lack there of) are what matter.
I was reading back through some of the threads here, and between the FPS comments and the "Action" comments, it is not 100% clear wether you have to aim, or you can auto-target.
From gameplay videos I've seen, it looks like manual targetting. If it is not against NDA to clarify, that would be very much appreciated.
If that's true, at least the twitch gamers have a new game coming out. Along with Huxley. And Fallen Earth. And...

Ok I'll give you what I can here.
I think my best description of the gameplay is "fast paced tactical combat" where everyting you do adds a modifier to damage you do and take. Crouching behind anything in the environment will modify how much damage you recieve and the crouching will increase your accuracy. Running around while shooting will increase your dodge modifier while also decreasing your accuracy.
As far as target acquisition goes its a mouseover to lock on to a target and as long as you keep your reticle near or on that target you will hit it. Damage is increased if you keep the reticle in the target circle when you fire. You can tab to do a hard lock or to switch to a target that is right beside or behind you original.
All of that information is located on the various reviews spread around the web so is not against NDA. That is as much as I can go into it without giving away protected information.
The gameplay has nothing to FPS gameplay. The videos that make it appear that way is misleading. You can toggle an autolock for one thing, so there really is very little twitch aspect to Tabula Rasa.
I heard they ditched the fps style and are going for another lame WoW clone, is this true?
I really hope it isnt.
No its not, they are sticking with fps style keep in mind this IS an RPG though not an fps game
Ps. though you can lock on to targets its better not to unless its a boss or something that will take you a while to kill on account of the fast paced game play
Its basically wows and every other mmo before thats ranged combat with guns. so you lock on to your target then you just stand their shooting, or you can move around a bit to reduce the chances of doing dmg etc.
theres a video on this site that explains the game quite well, the combat it self doesnt look any better than wows though, albeit its probably a bit faster but not much of a difference to care much about.

Dood!
You have to manually move your static crosshair over your enemy then it will auto target and you can gun them down. It's sticky aiming
I don't know where your getting the idea that it's a copy of WoW or SWG it plays completely different and I should know I played both of those.
If any of you would of watched the E3 video they explain that it is a third person shooter more focused on RPG elements and not so much for hardcore FPSers.
Also when I play TR I don't just lock on and shoot I make it realistic and use cover and run around trying to dodge shots and then do a cool finishing move.
To me this is one of the best MMOs out there and when it is released it should do very well. I'm so glad they didn't do the same old medieval style MMO we've seen dozens of times it's such a yawn!
TR is atlest going for a new style of play and you all have to agree that's something us MMOers definitly need!
SO DON'T COMPARE THIS TO WOW OR SWG EVER AGAIN THEY'RE TOTALLY DIFFERENT!

the GOW thing is correct think of it as more a GOW style combat but with many more aspects thrown into it. It isnt a simple point and click and its dead in 2 seconds type thing. You need to strategize how you do it otherwise you pay the consequences. I think thats bout all i can say cause NDA. Also considering the other games ive played i can honestly say i like the battlesystem alot more than say final fantasy and wow.

But yeah everything else has been recycled from old mmo's, mainly WoW.
the best blog of the net

you can find tons of gameplay clips on youtube about this game, so you can see yourself. I wouldnt call it wow copy, that is for sure.
....war....war never changes.....
Maybe more along the lines of GRAW and GRAW2

Think less CoD, think more GoW or RE 4

Yes, it's just like WoW. Except in TR even Trolls are allowed to use Laser Chainguns......

Its all good I want actual fps style in this type of game, no point in going half way it just ends out frusterating and dumb.
You just need a shotgun then aim your screen at 'em and boom! Fun stuff at least for a bit
