The end-all best MMO that will satisfy us all

Either SWG Pre-NGE (which as we all know will never happen) or another Star Wars MMO based off the previous model but with new, improved game mechanics, graphics, blah blah blah. A guy can wish tho, right? :)

Yeah I'll take a lil bit of that too. Oh man, now that game might be hard to come up with, but would it rock!

    Well...

That may be determined with the Story Line, Game Play, Graphics, Combat System, Features and the Style for non-sci fi enthusiam

none of these things change its genre.

I have nothing against scifi, and there have been some great games that fall into the category. Despite any features, story line, gameplay, graphics etc etc... not something I'de ever enjoy.

Try convincing a hardcore trekkie to play a dwarf in a tradiitonal fantasy mmorpg simply because of how great the game is. Even if its the best fantasy MMOPRG ever released, if the player doesn't like fantasy hes not going to enjoy the game.

Same with myself and scifi, I assume im not alone on this but maybe

My reason for my first post was due to the title of this thread as and the reference to an MMO to satisfy us all... which imo is an impossible feat.

You're not alone. I can't really get into the Sci-Fi MMOs either. I like fantasy. That being said, I don't think there can ever be a single MMO out there that will satisfy everyone.

Aren't these the people we plan on putting on a rocket ship and sending them to the center of the sun?

Hmm, what an ironic death for those who hate sci-fi.

Your sig says "Winners never quit and quitters never win."

    I agree, but what if........

Someone throws a frag grenade randomly in a CS match, then quits, and after they leave the frag kills the last remaining enemy, thus winning the match?

I hear you mate, 100%. SWG was by far my favourite MMO ever. Despite the it could take you 2hours to get ready to go fighting. Q's for Doctors at Coronet, then waiting for shuttles to fly around the galaxy looking for Dancers then watching them for 10mins. It had soo many problems and things that were wrong about it. But it had soooo many good parts to it.

I've always thought this. Why can't someone look at this game, take all the great things about, learn from the things that were wrong about it and come up with the greatest MMO ever. I'm so sick now of the "pick a class, grind it lvl 50 then start an alt". MMO's were always my favourite games but i'm really starting the lose interest in this now usual mix.

Bring  on "SWG 2nd Coming" !!!!

They could use the old Wizardry IP from the classic single player games of yesterday.  By versions 6, 7, and 8 the games were fantasy world  based however they threw in ScI-FI elements like races from other worlds, combat with robots, and laser weapons.....

As long as I could block incoming laser blasts and deflect grenades back at my enemies with my sword, i'd be all for it!

They've done what I like to call "hyper-fantasy" with like every Final Fantasy game since 7 (except 11 really) where they had magic and swords and guns and robots. It could be very easily done, and successful.

honestly people who hate sci-fi games are not a minority. There are so many fanatasy games, that i cant stand to play anything with swords and magic anymore. I know alot of other people who feel the same way, the MMO World needs a good sci-fi game like .... pre-cu SWG.........

    Playing: EVE Online
Favorite MMOs: WoW, SWG Pre-cu, Lineage 2, UO, EQ, EVE online
Looking forward to: Archeage, Kingdom Under Fire 2

Well, maybe Stargate Worlds is a Sci-fi-fantasy game which we can play together (players who hate sci-fi and love fantasy and the other players)

Could you think of a broader question to ask?  Everyone has their own opinion and their own likes and dislikes.  I'm really thinking people post just to read their own crap.

Maybe you didn't realize, but not everyone liked SWG Pre-NGE. Of course, looking at these boards it was the greatest game ever but the truth is after having great box sales (starting subs were over 300k and they thought close to 400k) the population was declining rapidly. My post wasn't just directed at you either, I just get sick of people acting like SWG was the best thing ever Pre-NGE when the truth is a lot of people didn't like it. (Not that I'm saying more people like the NGE, I personally don't like either of them.)

  • If your looking for another Sci-fi MMO and TR wasnt fun for you look towards Huxley or THQ's Warhammer 40K MMO.  Warhammer 40K Online should be a great game, the RTS games made by THQ owned.

    Yea, a true Shadowrun-type MMO.

It doesn't have to be shadowrun, as long as it's cyberpunk, but adding in fantasy to cyberpunk (Shadowrun-type) would be fine with me! :P

To be honest, I wish AO was more newb-friendly and had better graphics and animations, and I wish that Neocron was not dead.

Those are really the only two Cyberpunk MMO's that were ever worth anything, but sadly they both suck for some reason or another.

I've heard a good things about Stargate Worlds. They say you can find weapons AND melee weps in there. Also there will be some races with firearms and others with melee weapons like swords. And one race is mixture of those two.

Actually RELIC made Warhammer and CoH, not THQ. THQ is the publisher who bought out RELIC.

In fact, THQ bought out a TON of developers/companies.

To be honest, I couldn't stand to play Warhammer 40k because of the horrid UI and graphics (Each unit was way too big on the screen, and you couldn't zoom out enough to make them smaller, it is horrible.)

CoH is plagued with balance issues.

Relic needs to get it together.

I love Star Wars, the movies (well, 4 of them) and comics. I did NOT like Stars Wars Online. There is a difference.
