i really want to start this game again cause in my opinion this game has the most beautifully built world of any mmo out there. and also that the combat is so organized in my may of thinking of it. but i completely lost my account not by getting banned. i had a tarru tarru 40 blm, 20 whm, 22 thf, 20 war, 15 smn, 30 rdm. I had lots of good friends in my LS and i really wish i could start again but i really don't want to have to start all over again since i worked pretty hard on that character. i lost my account ID completely and other info about a year ago. all i remember is my characters name, the server i was on, and the password i used. is there any way to get my account back with just that info or is that idea hopeless?

I would totally be playing this game again, if i didnt have to start all over again.

Bad choice on SE part.  :/

I would love to start up again too. Heck, I wouldn't even care if I had to start from scratch again either. I had a blast with just about everything I did. I would definitely go a different route though if I played again. The first time through I was a Mithra and started with Thief. I then moved onto Ranger and used my Thief as a sub. I eventually leveld up my Warrior and Ninja to sub for my Ranger too, but I still mostly used Thief. It was a lot better sub than what others thought and I'm glad I played it. Crap on being like everybody else, I played for my enjoyment, not to make someone else happy. :p

Anyway, If I played again, I would go the White Mage route first then do Bard. I would still do a Thief again too so I could sub it in for farming, but stick to White Mage for my main party sub. Or maybe Bard/Corsair might work? Who knows?

Oh and as for getting your account back, my best suggestion is to contact Playonline and see if you can get it back.

FFXI was my favorite mmo, beside pre-cu swg, and the only reason I dont play currently, is because I just dont have the time to play. I have noticed that personally, for me to have fun, I need a good 3-4 hour block of free time, which is impossible for me these days, even on weekends.

But if for whatever reason, I had plenty of time and whatnot, ffxi would be reinstalled quite fast.

FFXI was my first MMORPG, and all-in-all it was a great experience. I met some truly great people through it and had a blast playing it. I was feeling nostalgic (for like...the 300th time) and decided to pop back into it again. Soem of the updates I saw were exciting to me, especially the whole two-handed weapons grip thing. So after installing all the discs again then finding out I had to uninstall it all and install some Vista compatible POL viewer I fianlly got it updated and ready to go.

That's when I started to realize some things. FFXI is a solid game, no doubt, but it is not..how should I say..."newcomer friendly". Meaning both to new players or those of us starting from scratch. It's so time intensive that it's gotten progressively harder to party up and work from the low levels, not impossible, there will always be low-level players, but it's a lot harder than I remember those first couple of weeks of the NA PC release.

Hardly anyone who spoke english knew of the game mechanics back then, we jsut went with whatever. so yeah I thought a Warrior/White Mage running around with a two-handed sword was cool. And everything was new and unexplored, I remember ceaselessly running around Gustaberg checking out this viewpoint and that vista. Thinking "How cool am I! Scale Mail baby!" and "Oh my GAWD...THAT'S what subligar is?...never again..." Learning all the lore of the game, seeing those really nifty weapon skills fire off for the first time, and all sorts of stuff like that.

When I rolle dup my new Elvaan a few days ago, I was kind of disappointed. It wasn't the same. All my friends were gone, I knew where every NPC, mob and vendor was at already. I knew what gear I should be using and how to properly plan out my progress. I guess the problem was, I knew it all already. I knew mostly where the story was going to take me, what to expect when LFG in Valkrum.

FFXI still has a magic about it, but I guess its lost some of its shine.

I still love the game, I thinks it's a wonderful thing and full of adventure and loads of fun experiences, and I would love to get it all rolling again. I just don't know if it's really possible.

    But dammit...I miss playing Samurai.

This game is really great. Used to play when I had the time. Now im in high school and have no time so I cant play but I hope one day I will get more free time and will be able to play again. Honestly, it probably wont be going anymore when that happens but hopefully something like it will. I actually forget how much time it took to play this game, just to get in and out a of a party but im sure its alot.

games that you put the most work into offer the greatest of rewards, the exprience and i guess pride or maybe that feeling of you earned it the hard way. Either or starting from scrath isn't that bad its pretty easy to get back into the game thought.
