In my honest oppinion, I'm not really sure. If your a fan of the highly-stylized fighting MMORPGs (CoH, for example, moreso than other MMORPGs currently on the market), then try The Matrix Online. Looks to have one hell of a lack of game content in general, but the fighting looks very nice, much like CoH, so that would be my best bet. Other than that... hehe I have yet to even *find* a MMORPG worth playing for more than 3 months at a time.

I've always been a huge fan of community and landed at games that lend themselves toward interaction overall. Don't get me wrong, I love a great game too, but without great people once you get all there is to get then there is nothing left. It would really depend on what you are looking for in order for anyone to offer a reasonable suggestion.

    Warmest Regards,
    LadyofDarkness

You may wish to consider EVE-Online.  It has a very active and energetic community.  The game has a steep learning curve and takes a bit of time getting used to but it really is VERY well done.

There is one server which peaks at around 10,000 users at one time. It averages around 5-7k users during peak US and Euro times.  The one server concept is quite cool as it keeps the community together.

The skill/leveling system is unique as it uses real time.  This can be frustrating for the power leveler but really quite nice for those of us that need a work/gaming balance.

If you are open to something new, if space games interest you, if pvp, and building your chararacter and corporation interest you then EVE is worth a peak.  Free Trial right now...

Oh Lord, stay away from FFXI.  Try EQ, it has a 30 day free trial no CC needed.  I played for 3 years then quit for a year and after trying 13 other MMORPG's EQ is still the best.  www.everquest.com

In EQ if you are a real Newbie, people will know. The veterans can tell if you are experienced or not just by the actions you take in EQ. You will get alot of help from people thou unless you perceive yourself as an Alt (Which alot of people have) or a Twink. All in all, just try it out if you want and see for yourself.

Everyone is different and alot of people are friendly in their own way. If you sincerly dont know EQ and gave it a try, I would be 99% certain you will get alot of help from others :)

No way... FFXI is FAR superior to EQ the way it is now. Both have a sickening grind but FFXI has an interesting storyline and better combat. I played the EQ free trial, and i couldnt stand it after level 4. On the other hand i managed 7 months and over 150 levels gained in FFXI before getting burned out.

Don't play either of em... but EQ is still the shittiest of the shitty.

Are there any MMORPG's that are heavy on the RPG and light on the constant level grind and fighting? I play EQ, but no-one seems to just want to sit around and have a few beers! image

    It's all about having fun

You must be high.  FFXI is strictly for powergamers and the ultimate grind.  EQ pales by comparison in the grinding category and it takes well over a year to get to lvl 75 whereas in EQ I got to 65 in less than 6 months.  After playing for 3 years I gained 255 levels before burning out and I only played 2 characters (both enchanters, 1 had 110 AA lvls).  You got to lvl 4????  Wow you have no idea what the game is even about yet at lvl 4.  It takes 30 minutes to get to lvl 4.  FFXI has crappy story line, horrible combat system, crappy controls, no customization, no mob variety.  Thanks but after 4 years its still the best MMORPG there is and I speak from experience in both games.

Yes its noob friendly, theres tons of new people starting because of the trial.  Im a noob again and I forgot alot of things about EQ and there are some new things as well.  I have gotten lots of help, had high lvl people buff me, someone gave me money, and people are just nice and helpful.  Spawn camping, Im not sure what you mean by that, but if you want to go fight skeletons, then your spawn camping skeletons.  Im not sure why thats a bad thing since all MMORPGs have spawns how else are you supposed to kill things?

FFXI has a Good storyline. Your character actually is SOMEONE in the world not just a person who slays monsters with no effect on the world. The grind isn't as bad as you think. Very good quests.

Oh and, someone I know can get to level 30 starting from level 1 in a day (24 hours), believe it or not. That is why I said the grind isn't as bad as you think, because if you know what your doing in FFXI, it is not hard to level fast.

Well it more about what you like in an mmorpg.

if you like fast fighting ffxi and coh come top of they list

If your competive player and want your character to stand out EQ and ffxi are both good in that area  daoc with trail of atlantis too.

If you like loads of freedom in your char creation and branching out to other proffesions eve-online, ac2 would be they ones to go for.

If you like crafting i think SWG or horizons but im not really into crafting myself so there might be better ones then that dunno.

you should state they ereas that your intrested in then you will get some more meaning full replies

if u played planet side but like mmorpg's i would of given neocron a try its realtime combat is very good but eve has a very big community and a very unique feel i didng like it a whole lot but many do my bet would of been with these two.

    -=- NC > SWG :-D -=-

    gank gank gank gank gank...

Anarchy-Online: Noob friendly with lots of startup quests and guides, after that you can probably find players to help you, allthough player quality has deteriorated a bit most are very helpful. The first 100 lvls or so are very enjoyable and fun.

Asherons call 1: No graphics but very enjoyable, and AAA+++ community and players.

Horizons: Very different game, no PvP but rather raids and projects that are community based, storyline you take part in, if you wish.

Neocron: Again different, heavy on PvP no super graphics but sufficient. Not as many griefers as people would like you to believe, but they are there.

ive played about 15different mmo's. i personally wouldnt try EQ because EQ2 is just around the corner. if u are gonna time sink an EQ game might as well wait 4months to waste 2years of your life /nod.

my suggestion to u would be to play a game that doesnt require alot of time/effort put into it b4 it comes fun to tide u over till some other next generation mmo's come out. WoW, EQ2, D&L...etc.

try City of Heroes, hilariously fun.

Oh lord, poor Gizma.  Well, see you on the FFXI forum in 2 weeks along with the other 100's of people bitching about how they wasted 50 dollars on poop.  BTW you cant pick what server youre on, I see you didnt research the game...
