My Sword of The World Review.

Im a experienced MMO player and been playing for about 10 years now

of all the MMO's i have played this has to be one of the most total waste of times ever.

If your a New player or curious player please do not download or play this game its absolutetly no fun at all

This game allows players to use 3 characters at a time, which at first i thought sounded really cool.  But this creates a major problem, the need to interact with other players is nonexistent. Its more of a single player game then anything if i would say so myself.  Why play a MMO if you never even need other people, since every player u need is already in your group (your three players you get to play). Basically the 3 players give enough power to a single player to be able to survive on there own for the entire game.  Also the 3 player system makes everything run slower, since every one person play the game has 3 players running at once it creates a horrible lag issue, and over population in most of the XP spots

The Developers tried to balance out this situation by making a lot of spawns and respawning them really fast, great..... doesnt work, just makes things more annoying when trying to move around and u cant cause u got 200 monsters chasing u

There are also major signs that this game was released incomplete and the producers were in a major hurry to get it on the english market, A lot of the translations didnt get double checked when put out for us to play.

The crafting system in this game is virtually non existent either. There is crafting though, but its hardly useuable or needed in the game. You dont need to produce anything most of everything that you need or find can be bought of vendors or the Auction Place.

The pvp system is really stupid to when you want to pvp someone, you cant unless they accept your request to battle, and if you force attack them, it ends up not being worth it in the end, even if u win the battle, since u get red tagged and everyone that sees u can PK you and u get a bad debuff effect as well. When you initiate a PVP though, you get transported to this fighting ground place to, kinda boring to, XD

The map of SOTNW is not big at all, if u want to create new characters at low levels expect to be seeing the same old places over again, cause this game gives you no other option but to xp in the same place.

I do have something good to say about it though, the graphics are great :) except a lot of the buffs that wizards and monks cast, when the buff is casted on y our whole team, its looks very cluttered all around ur characters

The Gameplay sucks to, its funny, this is the only game i played, where can play and not even be present. Since the battle system is automatic, your characters target by themselves and attack by themselves, you hardly need to use any of your characters skills anyways since the monsters die so fast in the first place. How is watching ur characters kill monsters on there own fun?

The customization of characters doesnt exist either, everyone has the same look, same characters, its boring, most of the customization goes is, WAnt a hat? or no hat? haha. you cant change the way your characters look so youll more then likely see a field of clones of yourself in a lot of places. Shouldnt the developers know by now that us Americans like dressing up our dolls as much as we can

oh well thats my review on most of the topics that involve this game

Unless you played before the horrible server merge, its not really a real review. let me confirm that AFK leveling is not a possibility if you want to level up in a decent pace. you will gain roughtly 3 ~4x the amount of XP by actually using your skills. The problem is there is a lack of mobs to kill, because of the channel merge. I suggest you wait untill K2 gets its act together and add more channels to the servers. they are simply to crowded.

After reading this review, its clear that the reviewer didnt play past level 30 lol. A significant ammount of changes happen towards the later parts of the game for instance...

You cant really afk level past 50 because your family no longer auto res after death. In pvp servers, its quite common to kill the afkers just to prevent them from getting easy exp over night. Also, early in the game, each of your dpsers can 1 shot all the mobs in the room. But as you progress, the monsters attack ratings and defensive power increase dramatically. A high level cannot 1 shot mobs unless they are atleast 8 levels higher with enhanced unique weapons. The mobs also being using debuff spells, stun, fear, knockback moves, cleave attacks which can easily rip apart your party.

The game is fairly antisocial, but joining a clan helps a lot. There are instances where you need to group, such as mission lobbies and boss raids. You can however, level to 100 without grouping. The reviewer thought this was a bad thing, imo, its a bonus. If you are more of a casual player that doesnt have time to wait around for groups and traveling and just want to play the game, you can very easily explore dungeons alone. Also, its possible to warp nearly anywhere you want making travel times instant. It is A LOT like diablo 2 with its waypoint system and warp scrolls. Also, once colony wars is activated, it is necessary to be in a clan to engage in server wide pvp to claim the zones.

There is no crafting system really, there are recipies and you simply gather the mats and find someone who can craft. However they are nowhere near useless as the reviewer mentioned. Some of the most valuable items in the game atm are high level elite recipies with stats far superior to non elite and even unique items.

Also, the reviewer must have never even pvped and based his review off what hes heard cuz hes no where close to being right. You do not have to request a battle with someone when you are in zones. the only condition is that the attacking and defending family level is 6. If this condition is met, you are free to attack. You will be flagged red if you initiate battle and can drop items from your inventory if you are pked during baron mode but it can easily be worked off. This added risk makes ganking more interesting simply because you cannot ravage an entire zone without people trying to stop you. In town, you can request a duel which requires the other person consent. Standing can be earned from duels however if you dont want to ruin your record by practicing, you can go to the pvp soldier and set up pvp without hurting your record.

now that the game is F2P, i suggest you atleast level past 30...the game is somewhat a lot like diablo 2...so if you were  fan of that you might like this one as well.

Ive been playing since closed beta of sotnw AND closed beta of granado espada (asian version) I am forum member 291 *made my account 2 days after the sotnw website opened* and am currently level 85/85/84 so unlike the previous reviewer, i actually know what im talking about.

I think I'll post some of my opinions on the game here.

I hate the channel merge they have now. I thought it would make people talk more but instead I receive comments lined with a slew of bitterness throughout the game.

There have been a number of times where I get called "dumb f***, idiot etc." with a stupid anime emoticon >.<" that punctuates their rage towards me for training a mob near a zone exit and killing a family who's slightly afking. Or the times where people tell you to "find your own spot" even when you're just passing through. The overcrowding in some areas really put people on edge.

The afkers and botters go hand in hand. It seems the bots are rampant wherever the afk hot spots are, running from point a to point b, picking up their loot.

I think the only real reasons I keep coming back to this game is because I enjoy it's 17th century theme, the 3 character control and weapon stances, and it's casual friendly.

My only concern with this game is the lack of community. I usually have to post questions on their forum board to get an answer. And even though the game is casual friendly, it's too solo centric.

like to add, i play on Orpesia. Not a big fan of PvP and player killing. So, I can't really say anything about pvp.

another thing. What is up with the Americanized voice overs for your character? The female scout pisses me off to no end. haha

I literally downloaded the Singapore version and installed it just to grab the sound file just so my characters can have a foreign accent.

I was riding the fence on whether or not install this game or not, but after reading the O.P. decided I will.

SotNW has one serious design flaw that prevented me from continuing to play.

The whole attraction of the game imo is collecting NPC's that you can add to your team. It's liek a mini game within the game. When I first seen it I thought - wow - cool concept!!! The Dev's in all their wisdom decided to nerf them so badly during beta there's really no point in getting one.

Except a few OP ones like Catherine.

The second flaw around the system is that it takes forever to a long time to level up a npc - so even after you get to high level - let's say your level 100 and you want to get a new npc - if he or she is level 80 - good luck in leveling him or her up.

All in all - another Asian game with poor execution because of exp required to level. Grinding is bad enough, without having to relevel each and every npc.

I suppose for people who really really like the game they wouldn't mind it, but at the end of the day there's no reason to play this game - except to level.

Grind to level to play the game - gee I wonder what rocket sceintist thought this up? Sometimes I wonder if every Asian mmo maker went to the same design school.

The NPC system is designed so you can switch with NPC's midgame. Most NPC's you will get will be a few levels higher or around the same levels as your members by the time you get them. The system isn't really build to do, say level up your normal stock characters first and then level your NPC's. Leveling other characters after you maxed out your stock characters is not really for what the system was designed.

creating new character really is no different that making an alt character in another game.

I don't really understand this comment:

"another Asian game with poor execution because of exp required to level"

99% of MMO's (including western) require exp to level up...
