AoC, WAR and Pirates of the burning sea

    MMO wish list:

    -Changeable worlds
    -Solid non level based game
-Sharks with lasers attached to their heads

    Fallen Earth

  • baffbaff Member Posts: 9,457

Nothing in that list looks very eye catching.

Just more of the same old same old.

What difference a Warhammer Orc, to a Tolkein Orc, to a Dungeons and Dragons Orc, to a Warcraft Orc?  I can't seem to get inspired.

I'm up for trying Huxley. I'd have to be very very bored to try any of the others.

  • SuitepeeSuitepee Member Posts: 921

Darkfall mainly. The only MMORPG out there to offer something I want and isn't the same old grindfest garbage.

As a possible second,Age of Conan. I hope they implement PvP servers properly.

  • RazephonRazephon Member UncommonPosts: 628

I'm waiting for Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures. WAR is only backup if AoC flops (which I incredibly doubt), WAR's pvp does sound somewhat interesting but its dull graphics are just that...dull and WoW-like (lets not start that debate >.>).

Aion and Huxley seem worth trying but I probably wouldnt pay a monthly fee for either.

Currently waiting for the MMO industry to put out something good.

PotBS is my next. *wishful thinking*

  • fireheathenfireheathen Member UncommonPosts: 40

HUXLEY for sure... tired of the hack and slash , whack a mole style mmo's ready for a change.

Old gamers never die...we just respawn. MMO's Played Everquest,Everquest2, Anarchy online, City of heroes/ City of villains, Vanguard, Dungeon runners( beta ), Fury ( beta ), Maplestory, Runescape, Silkroad, Tabula Rasa, Lotro...

  • Agricola1Agricola1 Member UncommonPosts: 4,977

PotBS here too, only MMORPG coming out with new and fresh ideas. Everything is another swords and sorcery "kill 10000 unicorns to get Gandalfs G-string of 1337n355!", and AoC has boobies! So that community has gone for the chop before the game is even released!

What does PotBS have what other MMOS don't?

In order of personal hype, I'm waiting for:  Aion, Age of Conan, and Pirates of the Burning Sea.

I, like many others, have lost faith in Darkfall.  I'd be more than willing to give it a try if it is released someday, but I doubt it would even approach my expectations.

Well players can design and submit their own flags, sails and even ships for approval and then have them introduced into the game. You have dynamic PvP zones that appear and collapse depending on ingame actions of the players. You have real ship to ship warfare with boarding parties, you also have an avatar and can fight with that. Avatar combat has a unique (I think) balance and initative system, everything is player built (OK that's not unique but it is rare). You can get your hand or leg blown off in special missions and have the option to replace it with a hook or pegleg, which opens up the hook style of sword fighting.  You get to be a real pirate and can have a parrot and go "HAH HAAAR ME MATEY!" and you have a cabin. The PvP is very different from anything I've seen before and you can fight on the sea and land.

take a look at the interview at Leipzig http://mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/setView/videos/gameID/68/videoId/1105

Besides who doesn't want to be a Pirate?

    Gods and Heroes and WAR.

  • pkim96pkim96 Member Posts: 168

Depends on the timeframe.  For the immediate future, WAR and AoC will beat all other newcomers easily.  I will definitely give both a try, but the RvR on WAR will probably be the biggest attractions.  We're not sure how PvP is going to be implemented in AoC.

On a longer timeframe, I seriously think The Agency is going to be worth trying.  There are so many differences from the deluge of cookie cutter MMO's in the market.  Totally different setting, combat is real time shooter, crafting system is time based, pvp for everyone, etc.

    Waiting for PotBS and War.

Much farther down the development road, I'm waiting to "see" what PE does with STO.

I'm also looking forward to seeing how Agency turns out.

I don't have high hopes for Star Trek Online, unfortunately.  The IP is just too huge and I simply don't see how any development team can meet expectations.  The success rate for Star Trek games is totally abysmal...probably the worst set of games ever made based on an IP that originated from TV/movies.  Perpetual has a HUGE task on their hands.

I'm actually waiting for SWG 2 or SWG pre-nge. Should be anyday now...

  • pkim96pkim96 Member Posts: 168

It's going to be a longass time before there is another Star Wars MMO...if ever.  That is a tainted property in this gamespace and until LucasArts knows for sure that a developer can do it right, it's not going to happen.  Maybe in the next generation of technology...assuming the SW IP is still worth pursuing instead of another SciFi world.

  • RedmowRedmow Member Posts: 196

Forget SWG. They failed, though they still have a small following.

I'm waiting on WAR. Used to be AoC, but I'm a longtime Warhammer fan (since the 80's) and will definitely try it.

  • healz4uhealz4u Member Posts: 1,065

I am waiting for Rise of Kunark for Everquest 2.  EQ 2 brings, for me, the EQ 1 feel and enjoyment.  I think the Rise of Kunark will expand on this in many positive ways.

I would be misleading if I said I was waiting for WAR.  I am waiting for WAR to be released and see what others say about it.  After that, I might (probably) will buy it to try it.  I am also considering trying Age of Conan.

Actually, I will probably buy and try them all.

I am really waiting for a good MMOFPS, if nothing decent is released I guess I'll be playing WoW casually and trying out different FPS releases like Quake Wars and UT.

I just hope that, as I suspect, a lot of you won't be disappointed.

Right, and Funcom has a pristine track record?

I really don't see why so many people have to post negatives about a game they have no personal experience of. Judge a game when it comes out, as a single product, please. The gaming community has missed out on many great games do to prejudgment.

SWG 2......or any other star wars mmo (yes i am a star wars freak...even after what LA did to SWG)

but realistically.....WAR (AoC just doesn't seem to do it for me)

And Rise of Kunark for EQ2
