I am thinking about getting this game but recommended is Vista. I have an XP machine with a Pentium 4 3.2, 1.5gig ram, Radeon x1300. This this will play ok on my machine?

Recommended is vista because Microsoft paid them to say that. You will get a better experience out of XP.. trust me.
Edit: Your machine "should" run the game just fine

Played (In order of favorite first to least): DAOC, EQ2, EVE, WOW, Vanguard, AC2, City of __, Guild Wars, LOTRO, EQ, Sword of New World, FFXI, Lineage 2, Second Life, DDO, Anarchy Online, RF Online, Archlord, Uru, Ragnarok Online, Shadowbane, Planetside, Auto Assault, Ryzom, Matrix Online, Horizons, Entropia, Sims, Runescape, Lineage 1, AC1, Dungeon Runners
I would recommend vista x64bit instead of XPx64bit. Only problematic is software that tries to rewrite system .dll files that Vista automatically blocks (vista x64bit) that can't be rewritten by any meaning. It's a protection versus most of the spyware programs and lots of weird freeward software that wants to overwrite system .dll files. Otherwise x64bit is stable as XP and provides a bit better performance.
REALITY CHECK
I run this game with windows XP and it runs awsome. I wouldn't get vista until the first service pack comes out. Until then i have no problems at all with running the game with XP. Have been running it on XP since closed beta started.
Thanks, I think I will try it out.
Both my computers run it perfectly fine, My new one is Vista, older one (2 years old) Is XP.
VISTA is only a waste of system resources IMO. I'll never get it unless I have to.

Agreed, I run Vista x64, it requires a bit of tweaking but gives better results in the end, especially on multi-core 64 bit systems.
vista is pretty much a joke in the real world (aka professions which use computers for real :P )
XP is still one of the best OS's out there
Vista on the whole is terrible for gaming. The performance hit is nuts. That being said, as for a 64bit goes, it's still not even worth screwing with due to there still being next to no support for it, unless you plan on having more than 4GB of ram, which in Vista is calculated by adding both your system RAM and the RAM onboard your graphics card. So 2GB system and 1GB graphics= 3GB used, 1GB available on 32bit.
Bans a perma, but so are sigs in necro posts.

Depends what you are doing entirely. Many companies are already upgrading to Vista, which is great, business user demands are what bring stability and security to home users.
Also, to be honest, my system is a lot faster and stable on day to day tasks when runnign Debian Linux, taking into consideration that I can't utilize the "full power" of my system. Windows has never been an optimized and well-rounded OS, Vista has a lot of potential, but as of so far not much of it has been realized.
Vista
We have some hardcore anit-microsoft punks here trying to smash Vista everywhere they go. Have you guys ever tried to use 4GB ram under Xp32 or 64bit OS? 64bit XP is as buggy as Millenium. 4GB is becoming a new standard and you can't really have that under 32bit XP OS unless you want to play with BIOS settings.
Vista x64 is working fantastic for me, i didnt encounter a single problem with it yet and I tried lots of games already on it. The only real difference between XP and Vista in terms of software availability is that Vistax64 bit OS denies rewriting system .dll files and it can't be turned off. And there is lots of software like this including spywares ad-wares etc. It's just a natural evolution in improving the defense against those programs, and it's up to the software developers that are doing serious software to not mess up with system .dll files in the future if they want to run up on Vista.
REALITY CHECK
Same as Thillian. I run Vista x64 with 4 gigs of ram and haven't had any problems at all with the OS. ATI and Creative drivers if anything gave me the most hell. ATI drivers get better every month in Vista and Creative drivers are still just as crappy as they are in XP.
The OS runs everything I've put on it. The only games that do not work is the games "inside" GameTap, the windows, staturn games will not run.
Vista x64 for me is more stable than XP ever was when I ran it, in my opinion. I have no intentions of going back.
