In early August Funcom took questions from the Age of Conan community and they have now released the first installment of their Age of Conan Community Q&A.
At the beginning of August, we took questions from our community, and today, we bring answers.
Due to the quantity of submitted questions, and some have been answered, but may appear in a later installment. Please keep in mind the answers to these questions may changed based on feedback from our beta testers.
Note that all of this is subject to change - Age of Conan is still in development!
Bloodz: How many battlekeeps will be available in the Border Kingdoms?
Based on our current estimates for server population, there will be a maximum of three Battlekeeps per region, with a total of nine possible on each server.
Entaro: Are there any differences in consequence that results from a PvE death versus a PvP death?
When you die in PvE, you receive a debuff that lowers attack and defense rating. When you die in PvP, you do not get this debuff. However, in PvP, there is of course the chance you may have lost some coin, or, who knows, maybe even an item, but looting is not something we have fully addressed at this time.

combat, combat, combat, combat, combat, combat, combat....
wtf ?
I read combat here, combat there, "will I be able to wear a double handed combat sword"
how will combat influence my combat socks? will it slow down my ass when I use a shield in a combat? will combat influence the combat I attend while combating ?
how does the new age of conan revolutionary combat system work in combat ?
sad, really sad...
if combat is the only thing and the main focus future mmopgs will have, then I rather go and play nintendo wii, which is more exciting than this...
why cant we read about something really innovative, like a revolutionary economic system or even a way to stop the poor chinase credit farmer and spammers?
what about image designers who can change your look ingame after you created a character ? what about neutral players who enjoy a game without fighting like entertainers or something like that ?
man I really miss my pre-cu star wars galaxies... it was the perfect mmorpg, R.I.P.
"You must be either retarded or a fanboi..."
Where do I sign?
I didnt realize that aoc was meant for the pre-cu crowd. Thank you for telling us.
It is not meant to Pre-Cu people, however it was targeted to people who want more than a hack-and-slash game, with some deep and intelligence (and immersion).
Well, the Pre-CU ppl are the kind of people who enjoy a game more deep than a Guild Wars or WoW (God forbids me to bring WoW on this thread, its like speaking ´Chuck Norris´ aloud).
Then, if Pre-CU is enjoyed for people who like some deepness and AoC was meant to be a deep game, then... Do the math...
um go play the sims?
i play games so i can do things i cant do in real life, to slay demons and dragons ... to kill other people. not to get my fricken hair done.
Very true post.

Go play sims??? He/She was talking about having a deep game not just a hack and slash game without any depth so I don't get the comment about "Go play the Sims". The game sounded promising but after learning about the pvp respawning and the no decay of items it kind of makes me wonder what direction are they heading in, Easy no depth casual or Hardcore depth with a grind. Oh well anyway you look at it we'll have choices when this comes out, Warhammer or back to WoW or maybe UO
And what do you think Warhammer is about? let me give you a hint ... its the first word in WARhammer. you're not going to be able to have your characters make up or nails done. not going to be able to go to a Orc barber and find out what the latest trend is.
You're gonna go out and fight and kill and maim your enemies take thier cities and cause pure and utter chaos in them. Conan's setting is a harsh kill or be killed world again not a world where the most important choice you may make is "well what outfit should i wear when i go to the market in town!".
this is not dress up barbie, this is not my little fashion show. both these games are about combat, brutality and destruction. I for one and glad they are keeping all that other bullshit out, they can then focus on whats important to many many players ... fun kick ass pvp and pve.
not ... well maybe we should add more food so players can get together and have a dance, or hairstyles.
so yes GO PLAY THE SIMS.
PS: they have already said there will not be any /dance emote in WAR so much for depth.
Another piss and moan SWG player.
The questions that were answered were some of the most commonly asked ones in the thread which had some 500 + questions in from the community on the official site.
Why dont you try reading further to some new information such as:

Did you know that AoC's character customisation has over 40 sliders for nearly all parts of the body. From the looks of it offers customization far superior to that of anything seen before.
Be anything you want to be:

I can see how you draw conclusions from your less than part time collected knowledge so far.
Fanboys, a little word... First, The Sims isnt real, you cant do on The Sims what you do in your real life, you will see that when you have a real life.
Second, War Hammer do not means WAR, it means an old RPG, older than any MMO, and as any RPG at time, it was based much on imagination,
Third, the ´SWG moans´ do compare the game with SWG because they (we) think that SWG was a great game and therefore, on a debate, we can use as compairson. The old SWG base was a loyal player base, the new MMO players of nowdays are not, and they jump from a game to another, and if (IF) AoC became too much combat oriented you will be sure that tomorrow another game, more combat driven will suck the base (which is tiny, by the way, see the LOTRO as it is sucessfull and the combat is weak and with no PvP, more about immersion), what makes a good player base to pay the every-day-money is the deepness of the game.
Fourth, everybody knows about how great the concept of AoC is, this thread is about the questions made and picked by the dev team and a probably turn on the game in the senseof becaming more of combat and less of deepness and details which would grab a good player base. IT is a fact that this questionary didnt touch the most difficulties complex partsof a virtual world, like crafting, economy, etc... And this worries a serious player base as we know what is needed to make this game a good, long time spam game.
Or this means that the dev team is combat driven and are letting, slowly, the deepnsess of the game aside or the player-base is only asking about combat, letting a bad impression on the dev team that this is what we want mostly on AoC.
I would like to let it clear that this is not the case, the real player, not the fanboys who ruin EVERY game for they lack the critical sense, do look for teh whole picture and think that AoC is terrific, have a great concept, but as the first poster said, it worries me very much this hype about combat around AoC. I do look forward AoC because of all their traits, mostly the player cities and the immersion, not about combat. If I wish more of combat, I would play Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 with my friends.
I never saw or read anything about that AOC to be a revolution on all spectrum of MMO game mechanics. I followed the game since the first time it was annouced. Where the hell did you read it will be more then just a new way to do combat?
The only big thing in this game is the way you swing and execute combo in combat. That is all.
Spellweaving as well. Being sent to hell for soul corrupting as well.
Spellweaving as well. Being sent to hell for soul corrupting as well.
Yes, and spell weaving. But it still a combat oriented feature.
It is the only reason AOC interested me. If I gonna just fight at least make in fun.
Heh its funnny how i see you everywhere making posts like this. This all seems so.....Familuar. I remember when SOE did this too now what was it called.....................Ahhh now i remember Viral Advertising.

I find it funny that your posts with AoC as topic titled anywhere have any relevance, especially considering you don't have any interest in the game. You bring nothing constructive to the table and I would seek some help for your forum stalking tendancies... Where as I pointed the guy to several relevant posts in good topics.
Its also kinda funny how you, jadedragon and anubisss all have the same writing style, all the same age, all the same goal of negative trained thought, and all fromthe same country, eh! You must be buddies, or the same person.
Its also funny how whenever you quote me you think its perjorative, yet if you look at the comments of others following your previous quotations and comments your find that they disagree with you now. A brief search concludes this for anyone to see.
The thing you quoted me on here has no relevance, its my opinion of the person I quoted and therefore its mine to correct if I want to. However, due to the original quotation I made in context, I felt it the comment appropriate if you read word for word what was said. You failed here, and because my post didn't imply any marketing technique, and AoC has its own strong brand awareness out there - proof in the hype chart.
This topic was a simple Q&A feedback for the community, not a "please give me this, please give me that" "oh, I wish it was like this, because this was brilliant" "why can't I have this explained to me" blah blah blah "I miss my game.." blah blah blah. Kinda gets tiring when you read the same crap all the time. However, TheCronic is entitled to his opinion, I just disagreed on the whole - get over it, and take your exageration with you, these are mmorpg forums. Comparing me to SoE without back up is pitiful to say the least, therefore, I'm placing you in the piss and moan club too from now on, good luck in your own exclusive club!
If you ever mention Chuck Norris and WoW in the same sentence again, he will find you IRL and do what he does best.
