Would you still buy the game if it was being built by another company? Meaning not being made by Blizzard?

I sure as hell wouldn't! If it was being made by another company, that would be illegal because Blizzards owns the rights to Warcraft in all shapes forms and sizes. I'm just kidding.

I am not too sure if I would though. I mean, a different company may change things that I feel do not need to be changed and add things that may be bad for the game and it's sales. Because we all know it comes down to that. So, it would depend on what changes this new company might make and even depends on who took over production of the game.

If someone else other then blizzard was making WoW.... Umm Hell no!! Blizzard IS WoW, WoW IS Blizzard the two go together. If someone else had the rights to make WoW (IE SoE) I would curse blizzard and never play a bliz game again... but they didnt so im glad =D

I guess it all depends on how you look at the question. SC: Ghost is only being Co-Made by Blizzard. I'm still going to be playing it. If another company were making WoW, and it looked as it is... then yeah I would probably be getting it. However, I am a HUGE Blizzard fan. They are the only company I buy games from since Diablo (for PC at least). B.net has definetly been their best creation... It's so easy and such a great service... not to mention addicting :-D

Of course I would buy the damn game, im not a Blizzard fanboy. This means I don't need blizzard to create a game for it to be good. The reason I am buying WoW is because I like WARCRAFT, not Blizard. If I liked blizzard I would buy SC: Ghost, which i will be, but not for that reason. World of Warcraft would be a good game either way, even if Maxxis made it, yes Sims creator, i mean, that game wasn't half bad.

Haha i know what you guys are saying... but if someone else made WoW it wouldnt be the way it is right now....someone else would probabaly try to make it a EQ clone game who only focuses on killer graphics rather then storyline/lore/funny things (IE the unique dances the races do)... Its because of the little things that blizzard puts into its game that makes their games FUN! If you gave another company to make WoW it would TOTALLY not be the WoW we all know and love today....

But if someone else did make WoW and it IS exactly the way WoW is right now then yeah Id play it... but I doubt someone could make a blizzard type game the way blizzard can.

Probably not because the game wouldn't feel like warcraft...

Blizzard puts very cool and unique things in their games that give them a nice addictive flavor. The atmosphere of the game, the music and sounds of the game... even voice acting!

WoW will be no different. Once you start playing, the Blizzard stuff shows and you can't stop!

If a different developer made WoW it wouldn't have the great story it does now, it would just be hack n'slash savage eden boring lame piece of crap. I forgot to add that in, but i would still play it, providing its still warcraft. Because i would want to try it.

That's like asking a room full of coffee drinkers "If another coffee house made starbucks coffee, would you still drink it?" A lot to consider, it won't be starbucks coffee anymore, if it tasted exactly the same, then who wouldn't drink it?

Same goes for WoW. If WoW was the exact same game it is now, just under a different developer I'd play it. Being made by blizzard is just a huge pluss the way I see it. I'm not blind to all that's out there though, I keep looking at other games and from time to time I come across a NON WoW mmorpg I fall in love with and look up everything I can on it, until I start to find the flaws... well not so much flaws, but gameplay features I strongly dislike, and the lacking of features I crave. WoW however... Still trying to find something to hate, that another mmorpg has. So far the best I could come up with is the art style. I don't dislike it, but there are games out there that I like the style of better. Mainly Phantasy Star online and Tabula Rasa. But if I chose a game over WoW because it has 1 thing better, hell I'd still be playing SB because you could build cities (FYI I Hate SB). It's all about finding the right mixture of features-art style-classes that "I" want in an mmorpg. What I'd love to see though, is microsoft sell the mech warrior license back to fasa, and fasa to make a mech warrior MMO. Massive mech battles, on a persisant battlefield *drools* sorry, going off topic.

Anyways, yes, I would play WoW if it was made by another company IF It was the exact same game... but if it wasn't made by blizz, would it still be the same game?... if a tree falls and no one is around to something something... forget how it goes.

If WoW was being made by another company . . .thats impossible. Blizzard would have to be shutdown in order for that to happen . . .but if it did

here's the thing

the orginal people who made Warcraft are gone, meaning the story is gone!
So its basicly a different company.

Blizzard and Blizzard North are not the same companies, the only similiarities is the name. Yes they are the same company but in a sense they are, different people.

I think a lot of people are going to buy this game only because it is in the Warcraft Series by Blizzard, and to a degree, that is a good thing. It's going to get a lot of fresh new players into the MMORPG market who have not played before, and I think some of them are going to like it.

The real question to me is that will Blizzards other developement experience lead to a game that the average player will be more apt to keep playing that other MMORPGs? MMORPG players are NOT the average gamer by any sense of the word in most cases.

No, the original people who made it arn't gone. There are still a few original people left on the team. Also the guy who wrote the lore for WoW was obviously around at the start of the project, and their lead artist is still there. Even if they all leave, they're still just "employees" If all the cooks including myself quit at the restaurant I work at, new cooks would be trained and guess what, it'd still be the exact same food.

Blizzard has a history of taking a genre and reifining and polishing it up, taking it up a notch, whatever you want to call it. I wouldn't touch it if it wasn't from Blizzard.

Max let me ask you a question. Would you wipe you ass if Charmen ultra, didnt make the toilet paper? What if starbucks made the toilet paper? Lets just say its the last roll of TP left in the world.

On a more serious side, Yes. Im sure we would all play WOW even if Blizzard didnt make it. But thats pretty much saying that Blizzard didnt make Warcraft at all. So now this new company has made all the different warcraft games. We still will play them, even if it dosnt say Blizzard all over the box. It would be different if this company was stealing it from Blizzard. Because then we would have to boycott them. Yes i know what your thinking. (What the hell does boycott meen?) LOL jk.......

The REAL question is, would you PREFER to use Charmin or some sandpaper-like TP from Wal-Mart? Blizzard = Charmin. If anyone did WoW besides Blizzard it would be like Exeter or some other brand you may never have heard of. I'll take the Charmin please!

Ya, but lets just say this new company is as good as Blizzard or better. They have made all the WC series. And now they have this new game coming out ( WOW ). If you had played this other companies games and you love them. I think you would play WOW, no questions asked. Thats what I think, but i guess its kinda stupid to play the what if game.

Honeslty i wouldn't think it would matter much, its still the same game. If its a good game then it really doesn't matter who its by. But when blizzard puts its name on something it does get a bit more intresting.
