Originally posted by DrLogic Hi! I have played Asheron's Call and Horizons for two months then AC another. Im currently back to single games for now. While I love Asheron's Call I dont like playing it because I feel like its long passed its prime. I keep thinking the graphics are ugly, the community is only going to get smaller, my computer is begging me get something that will give it a workout, and all the hype behind EQ2 and WOW... have finally taking over me. I'm also keeping an eye on Guild Wars and Saga of Ryzom. Man, have I gone off topic. Anyway, I still consider myself a MMORPG newbie because I have yet gotten addicted to one yet. My question which game do you think will have the most features yet still be fun for someone who only wants to play for three-four hour periods about four days a week?
To all those saying which mmorpg is better, did you even freaking read DrLogic's post????
DrLogic, both WoW and EQ2 will have very good tutorials for new players to the mmorpg genre and/or to their games in general. What you have to decid on is which game you like better based upon how you play and what type of mmorpg you like to play even though you are still a novice. I wouldn't call you a newb, just a novice.
As far as Saga of Ryzom, I played open beta until Nevrax decided the game was not developed enough and decided to go back to closed focus beta testing. I would not recommend this for novice or new mmorpg players unless Nevrax implements a much more user friendly interface and tutorial for new players. Guild Wars was a very fun alpha demo at E3 and very easy to play. I played with some people that have never played an mmo or mmorpg, and they found the game quite easy.
I have played both SOE (EQ1) and Blizzard products, both companies will do a good job with the tutorials. You will also find both nice people that will help you along the way and trolls that are just a-holes in most any mmorpg you play. It is just the fact of playing a mmog now-a-days, but please, don't let it discourage from playing.
I would suggest you also be open to Wish and D-n-L, but WoW and EQ2 will be available before those mmorpgs. Just keep an open mind and do the research, try out each game, and pick the one you will like.
May your mmorpging be fruitful and your xp multiply quickly.

Everquest II will rule, and the world will kneel before it's new electronic master. It shall summon vast armies of cybernetic robot warriors and roll over the world's combined armed forces. Then the WoW will develop an AI, and summon it's own vast armies of cybernetic robot warriors, but it will be too late, and Eq II will carry the day. WoW will retreat to it's stronghold around Oracle's computer, but the inevitable, unstoppable Eq II army will destroy WoW, Oracle's computer, and Oracle himself!
Then I shall be seated at the right hand of Eq II, and my name shall be Lefty!
All the world shall worship the new order!
Peace through MMORPG!
Power thourgh MMORPG!
Victory and the total obliviation of Oracle through Eq II!

Blizzard's games are always "Easy to learn, hard to master" that is one of their motto's. I think WoW will be easier to play, and more fun to play.

just because it has a 2 at the end of it doesnt make it different... and just because WoW is the first MMORPG made by blizzard doesnt make it the best...
I think World of Warcraft will be alot easier for newbies to get into, it doesint have as much content in it as Everquest 2 does but it is still an awsome and indepth MMORPG.
With everquest it will be like someone new to Rpg's playing something like morrowind.. yeah, that would be funny to watch.
Because of my experiences with the original EverQuest, and the lack of attention to the problems that led to the game being newbie UNfriendly, I would have to say World of Warcraft will be a more newbie friendly. True, EQII will only have 2 cities. New players will find more people in the same shoes as themselves, trying to figure things out. There will also be players in these areas willing to give a helping hand, I'm sure, but I think the quest system in World of Warcraft makes it a clear winner. The quest system is easy to both recognize and utilize. New characters will easily find themself drawn into the game world with relatively easy and exciting tasks which will help them familiarize and become comfortable with both the interface and their surroundings.
If it has a 2 after it thats mean theirs a 1 correct? so therefore they'll be more experienced players that know what their doing from EQ1 coming in to play. While in WoW everyone who will play it wont have played anything like it unless it was the Beta. Dont get me wrong EQ2 will probaly be a very great game but WoW will take the cake for being more simple.

Yeah, and what does that explain about which game being more newbie-friendly?
