I get tired of hearing all the "next gen" crap and the "innovation". Obviously a game doesn't need Next gen graphics nor does it need innovation to do well. World of warcraft has neither and yet is the dominate game in the market.
All I want is a new game that is FUN!
That is what is important. I could care less if it was a rehashed version of an old game as long as it was Fun!
It seems to me that too many people are focusing on wanting Innovation and next gen graphics. Why? We aren't the FPS genre. Strong fun gameplay is all that is important to me. Make the game fun for me to play and give me lots of fun stuff to do and I will be happy. Make the game innovative and yet have it end up boring and I don't care if you were the first to do something. I will quit in a heart beat. My time is too valuable to care about whether the game is the same as another game. AS long as it is FUN.
Currently playing:
LOTRO & WoW (not much WoW though because Mines of Moria rocks!!!!)
Looking Foward too:
Bioware games (Dragon Age & Star Wars The Old Republic)

Good gameplay requires an extremely rare and valuable resource that is becoming rarer each day we pass in to this age of technology and interactive multimedia. Good gameplay requires Creativity.
I wish some company would have the guts and create something that totally breaks the mold, and not rehash the same crap over and over. But I just don't see that happening anytime soon.
right, if we player wanted only graphics to us keep sitting on our chairs seeing we could see a movie, we want to get fun, not bored looking images and videos
IF PUSHED KILLING IS AS EASY AS BREATHING
Me Tooooo....I'm looking for fun, I played Tabula Rasa for the first time last night and the graphics were old but it was fun, others say it gets old quick but thats not the point I'm trying to make, point is I dont care about graphics.
I'll bet graphics are whats holding back AoC, And look what graphics did to Vanguard. and because of graphics is why every one needs to spend big money on computer stuff !!!
As long as the game is fun and has some good ideas to it and has at least some replayability then im happy. Of course good graphics would be a Plus but not a requirement.

There is a reason why I still play the first 6 Final Fantasy games. The game play and stories are great. The graphics aren't. Yes it is nice to see a great looking game, but as someone else said, you can polish a turd as much as you want but in the end it is still very much a turd.
If the game isn't engaging and has horrid game play, you can make it as pretty as you want and still have it suck.
We dont really need great graphics. Id settle for solid graphics with an interesting art style, especially if it means that all those extra resources will now go towards the game itself. Unfortunately, graphics are such a big selling point that I doubt anyone has the b@lls to try an push out a new MMO with dated graphics, even if it really is the "perfect MMO". For instance, DAOCs graphics are...well, dated at this point. But, if you took those graphics, added a unique/immersive style to them, then slapped them onto a really big, complex, fun MMO, Im sure plenty of us would get into it. Problem is, most of the mainstream MMO players would never get past the point of "OMG tehse graphics r teh suk i goin bak 2 WOW".
Im not giving up on the innovation part though. The same old formula can only work for so long. Thats the reason most of us dont stick around very long for any MMO after our first. Because, once you've played one MMO for a year+, well, youve pretty much played them all. Everything after that is just more of the same old, with a few different features, in a new skin.
2 thumbs up. got in the old time machine and traveled all the way back to AC. talk about dated graphics! but i'm having fun for the 1st ime in awhile. Even turbine couldn't/ wouldn't make the same open ended type of game twice, what a shame.
