If gear in this game 'won't make you a better player', as stated by the Devs in the recent article, then why do they expect people to spend RL cash on buying their game cards to get that gear?

*Does* gear affect Fury's game play? Is there any advantage in having good gear or not?

If it indeed dosent, then why buy it? I don't get it...

Seems to me Fury has a little identity crisis, can someone more in the know then I clarify for me plz?

Also, as for their example of a good quality set of of golf clubs not making you a better golfer... well... Are they trying to tell me that sportsmen don't rely on quality equipment to improve their performance to some extent? Heh.

Think of it this way...you are a level 60 warrior in WoW and a level 20 Warrior attacks you in some PvP area......it's lights out for the 20 Warrior. In Fury someone who knows what they are doing and has some skills with a level 1 still stands a decent chance of winning against a level 10. Is it harder? Yes. Is it impossible? No. I wouldn't even call it rare, there are lots of level 1's mixed in with other ranks having fun and getting kills or atlest helping thier team win in some significant way (healing/buffing/debuffing/ect).

In Fury there are 10 ranks, the higher you rank up the more ability points you can spend. However, ability points are used both to equip armor and to equip spells/attacks to your skill bar for use in battle. They are lumped into one points pool.

The better the armor/weapons(1-10) the more points it takes to equip. The higher you upgrade your spells/attacks(1-10) the more they cost to equip. So you must choose a balance between uber gear and uber spells/attacks becase you wont have enough points to have everything.

I hope that kind of clears up how having uber gear will net nessicarily make you better.

So the next question is why would I pay RL money for the subsription?

Answer: Becuase you really like the game and want all the cool "extras" you can get with subsription. Will it make you win more? No. Will it give you some freakish looking axe that looks like it came straight from the pits of hell? Probubly.

My understanding is the subscription will allow you to get cooler looking stuff, allow you in zones nonpayers cant get to, and let you be pushed to the front of battle ques and stuff. However it won't make you any more effective in battle.

As for the golfclub example.......Tiger Woods will beat your a$$ with a bag of 20$ clubs......because he is better than you.

Your character's incarnation level has the greatest affect on how powerful you will be compared to other players. The higher level you are, the more points you get to spend on high ranking equipment and the highest ranks of skills.

There is a very large difference in terms of power between a newbie and veteran character.

Skyless is right.  There is a big difference between ranks.  If you expect to be a newbie and go head-to-head with higher ranking characters, you're going to be sorely disappointed.  If you're an extremely skilled newbie, you're still going to be dropped by low-skilled veterans.  There is too much simple math to overcome when they are doing 2-3 times the damage that you are, and can take more damage as well...  But, in order to have some sort of advancement in the game, some sort of teir system is required.  Luckily, the match-up system is relatively good at keeping teams balanced.

This is BS; i droped many r10 while being r7. Build makes a great diffrence. I even tryed out r5 builds for challange and did pritty good in BB/elim. Ofc  i dident get the top players but still. By smart planning you can get allot out of little points. How els do you think some players rip equal equipted apart? And r1 should not even be concidered since its a matter of houers for r1-6. Obiesly someone with worst gear and no experience get totally owned by a higher rank or experienced player. But i bet allot of r8 loses to skilled r6 players.
