not sure of any MMORPG out there like that. MMORPGs want player on player interaction. Cant really have 1 player defend an entire city, nor could you have 1 player assault it. This would neccesitate a lot of NPC help. and with a city full of NPC defenders/attackers would be laggy and complicated. However, some games do have city assaults, WoW for example on certain servers and in certain PVP instances. DAOC had keeps full of them as well.
Was wondering if anyone knew of an MMO out there that is like AOE 3, where you can build a city, defend it, manage resources, etc... Thanks in advance!
The only thing close to this is Darkfall, if it ever releases and delivers on their extremely long list of promises they claim. Only time will tell at this point.
Actually there is a game in development right now thats in beta. It's called Saga. It's a fantasy rts mmo where you build your own keep/city defend it do quests with your armies and attack other keeps. It's being designed by Starcraft Lead Programmer Dallan Christensen.
There is a MMORTS, was not only the first MMORTS but one of the first MMOs ever, came out in 98.
Called Mankind. Developed by Vibes and released in 98. It got really big after a few adds in gamepro back then. Its had many updates and is version 1.9 now i think. Vibes sold the game to a Chinese company called 02oe. And is still up and running, there are free trials available as well.
Its futuristic, you start with a single ship and can expand up to over many thousands of ships. There are thousands of star system and planets to conquer, when you get really powerful you can control entire system with elaborate defenses and structures. And then go to battle against other players. There are zero NPCs or quests, it is entirely player controlled, from wars to diplomacy to economy. It is persistent, when you log off your civilization is vulnerable to attack from players online.
Its a serious game, i wouldnt suggest it to the casual player.
