I would gladly pay $50.00 for an epic Dirge dagger or $20.00 a pop for each piece of Assassination armor. Who's with me?
This would ruin the game, newbs would have what takes good players months to find, you'd be castrating the best part of wow, the finding of epics -- go pvp and get crappy pvp junk, dont take away the only thing raiders can brag about...
Yes it is quite possible to tax an MMO, already in the U.S. some states charge a tax on your subscription fee. You are technically "buying" something for that $15, so the states want their small cut.
As for the federal gov't, it is right now only at the commitee level. After the report if the Economic Commitee feels they should and can tax MMO's, then it will proceed to the congress proper for drafting of a bill. Now just because you live outside the U.S. don't think you would get out of it, you'd have to still pay taxes on anything you buy since you bought the gold/item here regardless that you live there. I would expect that the foreigner playing WoW would have to pay for the taxes after the fact, such as Blizzard paying the Gov't and then charging you the amount due at the end of the month (for example). Again though I will repeat this is only in the early stages and may NOT even get to the legislature. Just the fact this is being considered really bothers me.

disagree 100%
one thing that makes wow great is knowing that everyone with epics (other then ebayed accounts) earned those epics...
