Beta!...questions?

PRENOTE...I am sorry if there have already been several posts about this..but...

A. I'm Lazy
B. I Don't feel like reading 20 million posts about stupid WoW junkies saying WAR is the same as WoW

And I hope you all can relate to me on that :-p

Anyways, heres my question..So at Gencon I won entry to the beta test, I talked to the people there about it, they said I will need to wait between 1 week and 2 months (its been a little over 2 weeks right now)...

So heres the question, is anyone else in my situation?
Has anyone gone through my situation?
How long should i expect to wait?
And who's going to tell my guild on WoW that im leaving for WAR?

Thanks to anyone who replies,
Nameless600

    1. apply for the beta test as normal

    2. log into the war-europe (or NA) page

    3. enter the code they gave you

    4. wipe hands on pants.

then just be patient, tell people you are leaving for WAR when you leave WoW.

I won at Origins and I'm still patiently waiting.  All good things come in time.

Origins, btw if you don't know, was July 4th weekend.

    IMPORTANT Note:

Once you are cleared to enter WAR beta, I suggest you read the NDA before you click on the "I Accept" button.

The NDA may prevent you from even tellling anyone (this includes your WoW guild) that you have been accepted into the WAR beta.

quick question on that...wouldn't that mean that everyone who posts for a guild on the "guild recruitment" part of the forum guilty of breaking this rule?

Also i haven't actually been accepted to the beta..so I'm in the clear right now

You're fine. It is not against WAR's NDA to publicly state that you, or your guild, is in beta. Nothing more however, as any details about the game, the client, or even the download speeds is against NDA.

Yeah, I too logged in to email today and saw an email from "war" and got really excited until I realized it was the newsletter. Yes, I enjoy reading the newsletter, but I really want to be in playing.. er, I mean, testing!

As has been posted several times and also said from the Devs... It is not against the NDA to tell people you got into beta.

Imagine our mutual disappointment as we see the beta application ticker now showing over 400,000 applicants.

I suppose I no longer have much chance to see the beta before release, but I am very pleased at the amount of people interested in the game.

Uh oh, Maverick is on the prowl. His only obstacle - Ice Man!

God I hope I got that right.

The told me it would be late summer or early fall so I have not really been expecting the invite next.  I'll come when it comes.  Given how busy I am with work and other projects I've got plenty to keep me busy

And quite frankly, im tired of people saying that anybody who compares this to WoW is a "WoW noob" or is new to the MMO genre.  It plays like WoW and it looks like WoW and I have been playing MMOs since UO.  Only played WoW for 2 months because it was shit.

Well the concepts in Warcraft borrowed heavily from Warhammer

So I think they're just returning the favor brought upon them years and years ago.

Yes, okay, all right, we got it.  You are on a personal crusade to inform everyone that WAR is like WoW.

You played WAR at some Game Day thing and your conclusion is that it is like WoW.  And every post you make says that over and over and over again.

    All right already.

Only posting here to affirm that WesKhan1 is in fact posting ONLY in threads that have any WoW discussion in them.  WesKhan, let me ask you, where did this personal vendetta against WAR come into effect?  Where did you get your "more then enough time playing WAR"  if you are in beta then I'm sure you realize WAR isn't slated to be released for quite a few more months.  Things change...especially in beta.  I'm going to say that WAR doesn't look anything like WoW either.  I just want you to realize that going around trying to convince people that WAR is bad is pretty stupid, especially on the WAR forums.  It's like going to a Home Team's stadium and sitting right in the middle of a bunch of Home Team fans and saying the team sucks...you'll make it out alive but you'll wish you hadn't.  Enough with your personal vendetta, you don't like WAR? Fine. Go play DaoC or WoW, or PotBS. Whichever you want, but I'm tired of people trying to refute a game that is still in development.

ppl work hard on these games dont put peoples hard work down.

Unfortunately smack talkers will never go away. Tis the nature of forums sadly.

I can relate.  And I'm getting very jealous hearing about others who are making it into beta!  Does anyone know any other ways I can enter to win a spot other than applying on their website?
