i currently play WOW but cannot wait for this to release lack of conetnt no fun to play anymore wow.

the onyl thing i still enjoy in wow is leveling charcs i have masses of alts ranging ll levels and classes.

but my main charcs the 70s crowd i have just don;t have nothing to do.

i recently gave up raiding cos it was turned tottaly boring there is more nice little wipes, pvp is well same thing over and over and PVE is just a long boring rep grind at 70 nothing else i can't seem to be bothered with getting epic flying mounts as blizz wants people to grind 5000g for them and thats a definate nono in my eyes i want a game i can sink my teeth in and enjoy instead of spending every second grinding things that would make me money instead of having a good laugh with friends.

While I'm glad your excited over WAR can I ask you a favor in all seriousness?

Please for the love of god don't use shorthand...your post just totally raped the english language.

Grammar and punctuation is your friend. Learn them, use them, love them.  Also, if your gonna use slang its cause or 'cause or even because...not "cos".  I'm sorry, I'm no perfect typer myself but damn that post just was one big blur.

I agree. This game has some promise to it and should be in the top 10 when it comes out. WAR will have some competition if Age of Conan ever comes out, but WAR should definetly be a winner.

Actually, I found his post easy to read.  Yes there are run on sentences, no punctuation and misplaced subject predecate clauses (hmm .. probably got me on a mispelling there, but I am not goign to go look it up).  But those things could be explained by someone whos main language is not english.

As for the post, I have to agree with the OP as Wow did not seem to keep you engaged allof the time.  Yes, you could grind rep if you were waiting for a raid or in queue for PvP.  But that gets old really fast.  PUG's are not fun imho so there was not much to keep me excited about Wow.  And Expansions that include more of the same does not make me look forward to more Wow.

Looking At WAR.  There seems to be war going on everywhere.  You have Quests, Public Quests and RvR.  If you are wanting to do something, pop in and play in a PQ or join in the RvR.  I have not heard of any reputation grind or anythign like that, so I think there wont be any mindless grinding going on.

Immigration? I know several people who speak English as a second language yet live in an English speaking country.

Contrary to popular belief, you can't just throw the switch for perfect English the minute you set foot in the country. It's a very complex language and learning it takes years of practice. It took me 16 years to get it right (primary school and 4 years of college), and it's my first language.

Lets see you move to Russia and speak perfect Russian the minute you set foot in the country.

Expecting this from anyone is ridiculous and unfair unless they've studied English for a long time.

Speaking English != Typing English.   Its not the grammar.. or word usage... so thats an instant clue that he isn't really foreign, since he knows how to use the words... but rather that typing like an idiot is easier.. and its obvious he doesn't really care.  Thus the poking of fun.

Not calling you out or anything, but what's wrong with American? I mean English (and most all active languages) are constantly changing. American English and English from the Isles have been moving apart since the colonial period. I don't understand what makes theirs better than ours, or vica versa.

Also, WoW sucks. =P It has since the released Naxx.

Although i will in no way defend the "American" dialect(s)... (much less ebonics)

Are you saying that you do not think the mother tongue has changed in its home country since say...1620?

Also; none of the other ex-colonies have the degree of cultural mixing prevalent in the US (nor does anywhere else so far as I can imagine). Quite a few linguistic influences here... which is ironic since english itself is a bastard language of waves of conquerers anyway...

Anyway: even now; can you not identify a speaker as being from (for example) Australia as opposed to Great Britain?

ps: what the web is doing to the language is even more ... dyanmic.. than the influences in the states.

Shame; I had always hoped esperanto would become the common language of the web; lol.

i have to say how trolls ruin posts in forums by taking the main subject out

i was explaining how world of warcraft now lacked content, and life. and how good Warhammer online is looking everyday.

but someone had to go on the subject and ridicule how someone types.

even though i did type that first post while in work so didn't have much time to write so wrote it the way i write to most people in msn and such because it is understandable and not in a language thats not english.

the poeple who complain that "some" have not written in full english is kinda silly and they should get out more.

nuff said, i hope the official forums ain;t as whiny when they come out

    Yes WoW does suck :)

I don't have anything against American's (actually i would like to see all English speaking nations united as one nation) , i just find it strange that America basically watered down the English language. It was made by Britain and works perfectly, why have two versions of the same language?........

As for English constantly changing i believe that the other former colonies still use the British English so the US is unique in this.

Well, granted my knowledge of English in the Isles is limited to one professor who grew up in England and France, Green Street Hooligans, and and my weekly premiership futball. (Chealsea Blues for life!) But they aren't too different. Mostly in the slang I believe. Accents of course vary, but accents and colloquialism change in the US and the UK based on region. I will admit I do prefer the style used in the UK to that of the US, but that's probably because I enjoy change.

More importantly GO GET 'EM DROGBA!!!

Yes, I agree with everything you say about WOW, but it is important to remember that in all likelyhood, WAR will not be WOW but with all the bad things removed.

It will be a different game.  Perhaps very similar, perhaps with some  things done better, but I guarantee, WAR will have its own set of problems.

Every person will have their own view on what makes a game great and what is an issue in a game.

I made this mistake when I moved away from my first MMORPG,  entering each new game with a preconcieved idea of how it should be, rather than just play it and see if I liked it. Then I would wonder why no other game was as good, but it wasn't that the games weren't as good, it was because I now had expectations for a game.

When War is released, if you like the description try it out, but don't try to replace WOW.

BTW, WAR will not have official forums, see already you have preconceptions.

What about Canada? We take the immigrants you cannot take which integrates our cultures with those of the rest of the world, probably to the same degree or close enough.

As for The complete distaste for WoW after years of playing and the growing interest in WAR, my reasons to want to play WAR is because I enjoy the table-top version, and wish to try controlling one person at a time in a video-game environment. If I wanted to stay table-top, I'd play Inquisitor

Also, I never played WoW, didn't have the money for it when it came out, or the computer, or connection, but now that I do, I think it's too late to start up, with WAR coming next year and all.

    Close enough to on topic?

The only thing that makes WAR more interesting than WOW is the absence of Rogues. I absolutely hate the idea of getting ganked every other minute when you try to quest in a highly contested area.

It should also be "you're excited" (classic error), and there should be a comma before the "can" in that same opening sentence; otherwise, the meaning of the sentence is different than intended, implying he will ask that question while he is in the state of excitement.

"English" should be capitalized, and while he mocks "cos", he does say "gonna", which is a bit hypocritical, though I suppose "gonna" is more acceptable.

At any rate, I found the first post perfectly readable, though certainly not perfect. Then again, at least 80% of all posts here (not an exaggeration) are quite flawed and would be laughed out of any English classroom. Of the remaining 20%, most still contain minor errors, and very few are as perfect as is reasonably possible.

However, so what? Honestly. While I try my best to make grammatically and even stylistically correct posts that one does not need to decipher, I understand this is a forum, not a thesis. Therefore, I do not pick apart posts (except those made by grammar Nazis, who are typically very guilty themselves) because this place is an informal venue for discussion, potentially frequented by people the world over. Thus, as long as I can understand the meaning of the post, I am not going to complain about some technical errors that have nothing to do with the topic at hand.

So, in short, unless something is truly incomprehensible, shut it. If it is incomprehensible, well, ignore it. If one is unable to do these things and insists upon well-formed posts, then I suggest reading a book, which has hopefully been properly edited.

Yea, but I was thinking of grammar and punctuation being synanmous with one another thinking of them as more of a complete whole that cannot be taken without the other (or at least shouldn't be) and therefore as a single entity that requires a singular predicate which is "is".  Whether or not I'm right on this subject and my interpretation is more correct over yours is a moot point.  My point was that the first post (EVEN if it was comprehensible) was simply atrocious and even though I'm not perfect In my grammar and spelling it by far exceeds that of the original post.  That being said I'm glad when people point out my mistakes, allows me to remember them and hopefully not do them in the future.  So...thanks!
