I decided to reactivate my Station Pass today. I have been so busy I have not logged into Vanguard or SWG in a long time, although I play EQ 2 actively (when I can).
I was talking with people from my old WoW guild about WoW and they said they were, mostly, "bored." I think a lot of people in WoW do not know about EQ 2, but that is my theory. Nevertheless, I have decided to reactive my subscription to WoW. I want to log into my old server and my old guild. I left my guild in charge to a Music major at Harvard. I wonder if it is still active; this is my other guild from my successful raid guild that I ran. In other words, the guild I formed on a whim for fun when I returned to WoW for five minutes after canceling Vanguard.

play what you enjoy. you dont have to hate WoW to play and enjoy eq2. I float from MMO to MMO all the time. If your goal is just to have fun instead of "beating the game" or worrying about "end game" then this method should keep you happily playing something. It works for me.

Great point.
In theory, I am subscribed to EQ 1 (non SOE server); EQ 2 (the one I play all the time, and I think it is great); SWG; Vanguard; and WoW.

yeah so for 30$ a month( 2movies or 1 decent dinner out) you get to enjoy 5 game at your leisure bouncing to whatever suits your fancy that particular day. Doesnt sound insane to me.

I live in Chicagoland. A night out costs me, on average, 65.00 to 85.00. It is awful. I am a college student with no income, so it is particularly harsh.
Anyway, gaming is and probably always will be apart (even if it is a small part) of my life. I started with these games mainly with EQ 1. Ironically, I went from EQ 1 to UO (still kept EQ 1 account). Since then, I have been always interested.
It is an exciting time and a sad time for gaming. Exciting because Blizzard learns. SOE, with the greatness of EQ 2, obviously learns. Technology is at a level where companies/developers can give the gamers/consumers what they want. However, as you see with WoW, games are more or less designed to keep people playing/paying instead of the greatness of their creativity.
yep, you are insane... or you have way more time than I do.
both cases count as "bad bad bad" in my book... so.... Bad boy!
There, done. now back to tabula rasa beta.

Oh no, your guild is going to be full of bards and gaye songs of old. Everyone will speak like a Musical and raids like an Opera.

That is Yale. Not Harvard (HAAH vihd is a good pronunciation).
Anyway, I am still downloading everything. I am starting to think this might have been a mistake. Nevertheless, I look forward to talk with people I used to play with.
I do not even have time for a single game let alone any of these. LOL.

GO BACK TO VANGUARD
I think it is a good game that is dieing (literally) to become a great game.
When you play it, you can feel the vision of its creators and developers and the breath and imagination they had. Vanguard has not yet had a chance to get beyond BETA.
Some really cool people, great people play that game. I find myself, unusually, continuously emphasizing community. I think it is because WoW, from my experience, generally has a worse than bad community. EQ 2 has an awesome community. Vanguard has awesome people and a lot of jerks. Community is important.

If they'd just fix the hitching and the "flashing" textures, balance the PvP server (I hear it's very messed up) and IMO it would be fit for release.
I've played EQ2, now a month of Vanguard. They're both very good, especially graphically, but very poor in performance.
I fell in love with EQ2, but my jerk of a friend (who I bought the game for) ruined it and wasted my $50 becuase he sucks, and then later claims "Money is useless" as an excuse to justify his wasting my $50. That'll teach me to be nice and buy things for other people. He liked the game, we had a TON of fun, but because SoE screwed ME out of 23 free days, he refused to pay the $15, despite the fact I BOUGHT HIM THE GAME $50. Before I bought him the game, he said he'd pay the first month ($15) too, which was a LIE.
*twitch*
So instead I'm with Vanguard, because I can have fun playing that without IRL friends.
I never really tried to group in EQ2, but every seemed to want to solo.
[I am downloading; I have time. I cannot sleep. Not when I have a day off tomorrow, although I have a lot of work to get done.]
I agree, and they need:
A. Greater character customization such as an 1) AA point system (similar to EQ 1 but more for character enhancement instead of raid enhancement) and 2) unique spells and abilities from heroic Quests;
B. Fishing/Hunting and other activities that enhances the vast world feel;
C. Taverns similar to SWG's to enhance community and world-feel. [make them an instance if it causes lag]
D. Raids (Update 3 will have this)
You should join the Antonia Bayle server and considering joining the guild I am in, which is the Blackhawks Guild. It is the third largest in the game and the largest on the server.
It is a great community, and I have never "lfg" for very long at all.

Hmm, you're right. That raises the bar IMO, and I now feel it wouldn't be "fit for release" until they also implement those things.
Perhaps also a more complex/intelligent AI to fight instead of just giving the AI tons of hp. I'd love to see the reaction system and strategy play a bigger part in difficult fights.
Oh, absolutely. I think people appreciate "unique" and various encounters, particularly with bosses.
I could continue about Vanguard that they need:
E. Enhanced/Revamped Crafting system;
F. Greater integration of diplomacy and adventure;
but I will leave it at that.
This might be the most short-lived WoW experience, even shorter than last time. I have 4 gigs free on my computer and I am downloading The Burning Crusade now. I also cannot remove anything from my PC; I need everything I have on there.
Btw, I have two 10 day guest passes if you want one. I think they are still active; I do not recall sharing them with anyone.
Well you are insane, but I like that! We MMO players are ALL insane in a degree, so you fit in here well, hehe. ^^
I think its good when ppl arent too narrow, and you show you are open to things some perceive as opposites, like SOE games and WOW. No, I think thats all fine. They day we loose our childish curiosity is the day we're dead. ^^

At the moment and after playing wow for 2 years, eq2 for quite less, vanguard for 1 month, swg for more then 1 year, all i can say is they are ALL boring after some time. I'm still waiting for something interesting.
I subscribe to several MMOs myself. So from my perspective, you're not crazy. Just make sure you're getting your money's worth. If you don't play, don't pay.
MMO games played or tested: EQ, DAoC, Archlord, Auto Assault, CoH, CoV, EQ2, EVE, Guild Wars, Hellgate: London, Linneage II, LOTRO, MxO, Planetside, SWG, Sword of the New World, Tabula Rasa, Vanguard, WWIIOL, WOW, Age of Conan
Oh well, im the kind of person who cant play several MMO's at the same time... I would get stressed, litterally... Thats the reason i aint playing any atm, kek.
But yeah, get medication
