Seeing as I'm only 16 and can't get a credit card 
I need to give my mom some good reasons to let me get this and use her credit card. I have friends who play this game and it looks like it is really fun. Any advice?

how about this suggestion. Don't get it.. by the time you get it your friends will be bored with it and have quit.. then your stuck w/ a game and NOBODY to play it with.
FFXI is a waste of time
don't get it. It is a waste of time and endless grinding. Put your money somewhere that it would be better used such as
------------
Everquest (if you want to buy all the expansions)
Star Wars Galaxies (if you like lots of awesome features but no real quest system - semi updates)
Asheron's Call 2 (if you like awesome kvk and a great quest system - tons of added quests and features)
Just try convincing your mom that FFXI will make a bigger man out of you, in more ways then one, and that if builds character and discipline and all that kinda jazz. Personally though I think that there are way better MMORPGs out there... But are you wanting to play it on PS2 and that is why you chose FFXI? If you only have one chance to convince your mom to let you get a game then you should convince her to let you get WOW, cause that game will be the best MMORPG ever!
But I guess if you are wanting to play with your friends then you should get FFXI, you'll probably still have a lot of fun.
So try convincing her that it will make a bigger man out of you. And if that doesn't work, then you better show here who's da man!

Tell her this is the only kind of game where you can socialize with your friends, learn a bit about people all over the world, as well as teach yourselfs skills in economy.

If your mom doesn't permit you to play, then she must have a good reason (whether financial or genuine academic consideration).
MMORPG's like these require lots of hours (lvl cap is pretty low which you should have deduced from previous posts).

This is a sequence of characters intended to produce some profound mental effect, but it has failed.
Although I am not him, but I can bet almost anything that his parent's don't trust their credit card on the internet or anything related to that.
Can anyone please enlighten me about which MMORPG isn't a "huge level grind"? EVERYONE who flames this game says that, even though every other MMORPG is like that.
Stop flaming this game here. Also, why do so many people say "Go play WoW instead of this game" or EQ2? The point is that IT ISN'T RELEASED YET!
well it really depends about what she's worried about and her reasons. If she's concerned about your grades than promise her that you will only play on weekends and days off. ( but you have to keep the promise, dont just say it.) Also let her know that you will try to get a job and a checking card so you can start paying for it.
Basically just let her know that you know what your doing and are taking responsibility with it.

Oh and btw if you want to wait for he end all mmorpg, wait for Vanguard: Saga of Heroes. Its gonna blow EQ2, WoW, Guild Wars, DaoC, EQ, basically all other fantasy MMORPGs out of the water.

Tell her it's non violent, the pvp is in the form of ballista which takes place in another realm and is your choice if you wanna participate. Tell it's lotsa cutesy graphics, its not gonna turn you into a psycho murder (not till you meet steelfleece and he rapes you unsupectingly on the highlands).
it's $12 theres no extra costs, no scams, no real cs kiddy type shizzle and generall you get to meet people from all around the world so you can improve various education skills like languages n history n stuff....Square will bill it once a month, they will tell you through pol its been billed and pretty much advise you to double check so no billing errors are made. So i doubt your gonna have trouble swith bills on it as you can just cancel when you feel like it. Not that only that if you have a bro or sis then it's like $1 for another char and its more than enough to keep a person busy so she gets you of her case for hours on end
